Tes ‘Independent Senior School of the Year’ 2026 RGS Worcester has been named ‘Independent Senior School of the Year’ 2026 at the national Tes Awards, widely regarded as the ‘Oscars of Education’. The School was the only independent school from the West Midlands shortlisted and was selected as the national winner from a field that included Charterhouse, Tonbridge School and Latymer Upper School. Judges recognised RGS Worcester’s combination of academic excellence, strong pastoral care and leadership in preparing young people for a rapidly changing world. Judge David James commented: RGS is a school with a clear sense of what it wants to do, and how it wants to go about doing it.

Independent Schools of the Year Awards Success
The RGS Worcester Family of Schools was also shortlisted as one of just eight schools nationally for the Tes Award for 'Best Use of Technology', recognising our innovative approach to digital learning. To be recognised as Independent Senior School of the Year is an extraordinary honour and a proud moment for everyone connected with RGS Worcester. This award reflects the dedication and care of our staff, the ambition and character of our pupils, and the support of our whole School community.
All three schools in The RGS Worcester Family of Schools received national recognition at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards. Chamber Awards Finalist The RGS Worcester Family of Schools was delighted to be named a finalist in the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards 2026 for the second consecutive year. The Schools were shortlisted in the ‘Best Use of Technology and Trends’ category, recognising their continued commitment to innovation and its pioneering use of technology to enhance teaching, learning and the wider pupil experience.

Welcome to Excel What an incredible time we have been having at RGS Worcester and across our Family of Schools! To be selected from over 1,500 UK independent senior schools to be Independent Senior School of the Year in the Tes Awards 2026 was a tremendous achievement by everyone in the RGS community. These ‘Oscars of Education’ are awarded by national educational leaders. Such recognition comes from exceptional commitment by our staff and from pupils and parents. The award gives us the confidence to press on and keep aiming high in all that we provide for our pupils. We celebrated superb academic results again this summer with students performing brilliantly across such an incredible range of subjects in A Levels, GCSEs and more vocational qualifications such as the BTEC and CTEC. Most importantly the students secured their first-choice universities, apprenticeships and other courses. For Apple to choose RGS to host the Apple Distinguished Schools Global Summit 2026 was extraordinary and we really enjoyed welcoming delegates from every continent to the School last July. Apple was celebrating 30 years of the ADS programme and RGS is the first school ever to be asked to host the conference. Our pupils and staff did us proud as they participated in the conference and showcased RGS’s expertise in digital learning and AI to educators from around the world.
We have been enjoying new facilities with the development of our Mahjoor Innovation Centre, works completed on Perrins Hall and other enhancements across our Schools. It is important to continue to develop our provision for pupils and our innovative plans will help prepare our pupils for a future world. With all of this success, we have not lost sight of our core values and the importance of providing a superb all-round education which is of a high value for parents. The Daily Telegraph judged RGS as the only school in the area to be ‘Very Good’ value for money and we continue to develop our already ‘breath-taking’ co-curricular provision for all age groups, while ensuring that all pupils are supported in their academic progress and through our expertise in pastoral care. Oxbridge Success RGS Worcester students achieved places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Ellen-Mae will study Geography at the University of Oxford having achieved A*A*A*A in English, Geography, Spanish and Biology A Levels and an A* in her EPQ. Isabelle will study History at the University of Oxford after achieving A*A*A in History, Philosophy and Maths as well as an A* in her EPQ. During her time at RGS Worcester, Isabelle masterminded the School’s Model United Nations Conference and was also an accomplished singer and flautist. Hannah achieved outstanding results of A*A*A*A in Biology, Chemistry, History and Mathematics A Levels and will study Medicine at Pembroke College, University of Oxford. Deputy School Captain Harry, a keen rower, will read Modern Languages at Oriel College, University of Oxford after achieving A*A*A in French, Economics and Mathematics and an A grade in his EPQ. Talented musician, actor and debater Sasha will study History and Modern Languages at the University of Cambridge after achieving four top A Levels.
Upper Sixth Results Alongside another extremely strong set of A Level results, this year also saw the School’s best ever BTEC and CTEC results, underlining the breadth of academic and vocational excellence across the Sixth Form. The most common BTEC/CTEC grade achieved was the top grade Distinction*. In addition, the students achieved the School’s best ever Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) results with 22 students achieving A*/A. The diversity of student destinations is equally impressive. From Architecture, Business, Design, Education, Engineering, Geography, Languages, Law, Medicine, even to Zoology, RGS Worcester students will now embark on an extraordinary range of degree courses and career pathways. Six RGS Worcester students achieved their places at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, while others have accepted places at other leading universities across the UK. Aryan (first picture) secured A*A*A grades and will take up a place to read Biochemistry at Imperial College London. The strength of RGS Worcester’s Careers programme is reflected in university destinations and in the growing number of students securing prestigious apprenticeships. Finlay has accepted a highly competitive degree apprenticeship with EY having achieved AAB Grades in Economics, History and Maths, while Lillie has secured a place with Norland College to train in Early Childhood Education and Care after achieving a top Distinction* in the Business CTEC and A and B Grades in Sociology and Psychology at A Level.
GCSE Results RGS Worcester pupils celebrated the School’s best ever set of Grades 9 - 4 GCSE results, with almost 99% of all grades awarded at Grades 9 - 4 (compared to 67% nationally). The results provide pupils with an excellent foundation for the next stage of their education. In the RGS Worcester Sixth Form they can choose from more than 30 subjects, alongside the unique RGS enrichment and ‘future-ready’ programme and an extensive range of co-curricular opportunities. Digital Leader and musician Ridhima achieved all Grade 9s in 10 subjects. In addition to her studies, Ridhima excels in performing arts, public speaking and digital leadership. Talented musician and actor Arthur achieved 11 Grade 9s. Arthur is a multi-talented pupil who was recently awarded a prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship for his significant potential in the field. Drama scholar Audrey achieved 10 subjects with 9 at Grade 9. A highlight of the year for Audrey was performing in the senior production of the musical ‘The Band’. 1st XV Rugby player Mick, who returned from the RGS Rugby Tour to South Africa this summer achieved all Grades 6-8 in 9 subjects.

National Sports Success Amelie produced an outstanding performance at the National Prep Schools Athletics Championships, where she was crowned National Champion in the 800m. Amelie set a new Personal Best to win the title, breaking the School record in the process. Congratulations to Lower Sixth student Issy, who won a Bronze medal in the Under 18 Women’s Épée at the British Youth Championships. Competing against the country’s top young fencers, Issy demonstrated outstanding skill, composure and determination to secure her place on the podium. Cleo was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2026 FEI Pony European Championships in Le Mans, France. Cleo and her pony, Night Fury, earned their place in the national squad following a series of outstanding performances and competed against Europe’s leading young riders. Sixth Form student Kat represented Spain in an international cricket tournament in Switzerland, competing against Switzerland, Jersey and Brazil. Moving up the batting order to open for the final three matches, Kat produced a standout innings of 88 not out. She also made an impact with the ball, breaking an important partnership in the final match, and took several excellent catches during the tournament. Jake has enjoyed a superb sailing season, becoming ITCA 4.2 National Series Champion before going on to win Silver at the ITCA 4.2 World Championships in Quiberon, France. Competing in a fleet of 187 boats, Jake produced consistently strong performances across ten closely contested races.
Former RGS Worcester pupil Zara enjoyed a remarkable season on the water, making history at the Henley Royal Regatta before going on to row for Great Britain. Zara stroked the University of Reading crew to victory in the inaugural Queen Victoria Challenge Cup at Henley, becoming one of the first names to be engraved on the new trophy. She then helped Great Britain claim Silver at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships, adding a world medal to an outstanding year. Former RGS Worcester pupil Haineala (2022-24) continues to make her mark on the international stage following a remarkable breakthrough season with the England Red Roses. After making her senior England debut during the 2026 Women’s Six Nations, Haineala earned five caps as the Red Roses secured a record eighth consecutive Six Nations title. Haineala’s outstanding season was further recognised when she was named Premiership Women’s Rugby ‘Breakthrough Player of the Season’, celebrating her impact for both Loughborough Lightning and England. She was also awarded her first England Red Roses development contract, recognising her as one of the country’s most promising emerging rugby players. Former RGS Worcester pupil Alice (2010–2023) represented England at the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands, scoring her first World Cup goal during the tournament.
Rugby at RGS Chris Pennell Leads Rugby at RGS Worcester Former England international and Worcester Warriors Captain Chris Pennell is leading rugby at RGS Worcester, bringing more than 16 years of professional playing experience to the School. As Head of Rugby, Chris is working with pupils across all age groups and abilities, helping them develop their skills, confidence and enjoyment of the game.

Worcester Warriors Partnership RGS Worcester is delighted to continue its partnership with Worcester Warriors as the Club’s Official Education Partner for the 2026/27 season. Building on a successful first year, the partnership continues to provide pupils across The RGS Worcester Family of Schools with unique opportunities to learn from elite players and coaches, while strengthening links between education, sport and the wider Worcestershire community. As part of this shared commitment, RGS Worcester also hosts the popular Train Like a Champion sports camps with Worcester Warriors, giving young people from across the region the opportunity to develop their skills in a professional sporting environment.

South Africa Rugby Tour Senior Boys travelled to South Africa for a 12 day rugby tour, combining high-level sporting competition with a rich programme of cultural, historical and outdoor experiences. The Under 15 and Under 17 squads tested themselves against leading South African schools, including Pretoria Boys High, Dundee High School and Northwood, gaining experience of international rugby. Away from the pitch, pupils immersed themselves in South African culture through visits to Lesedi Cultural Village, the historic battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift, and HluhluweiMfolozi Game Reserve, where they enjoyed unforgettable safari experiences. The tour also included visits to Loftus Stadium, St Lucia Wetlands, Durban's coastline and a range of team-building activities, creating lasting memories.
Shaping Regional Leadership Headmaster Mr John Pitt was invited to join a distinguished panel of business and sporting leaders at the Sixways Business Club, discussing ‘Leadership, Recruitment and Retention in Business and Sport’. Hosted by Robert Elliot from the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, the event brought together leaders from across the region to share insights and experiences of developing high-performing organisations and nurturing future talent.
National Success on the Water RGS Worcester rowers enjoyed a fantastic end to the season with impressive performances at both the National Schools’ Regatta and the British Rowing Club Championships. At the National Schools’ Regatta, Billy and Freddie qualified for the Championship Doubles B Final, an excellent achievement at one of the UK’s most competitive school rowing events. The Year Ten girls’ coxed quad of Elsa, Issy, Annabelle and Xanthe, coxed by Xavier, also impressed by qualifying for the C Final and finishing third. The same crew ended the season in style at the British Rowing Club Championships in Nottingham. Racing as a coxed quad, they won the F Final by an impressive 17 seconds, producing one of the standout performances of the day. Their success reflects the dedication, teamwork and determination shown by RGS Worcester rowers throughout the season.
A Memorable Season for Girls’ Cricket Girls’ cricket enjoyed another outstanding season at RGS Worcester, with success on the pitch and growing recognition beyond it. The Under 13 team were crowned County Cup Champions, while the 1st XI produced an impressive run to the National Plate quarter-finals, demonstrating the continued strength of girls’ cricket across the School. The season also saw four members of the 1st XI represent RGS Worcester on BBC Hereford & Worcester, sharing their experiences of girls’ cricket and reflecting on the opportunities the sport has given them. Together, these achievements highlight the talent, commitment and enthusiasm of RGS Worcester’s cricketers and the continued growth of the girls’ game at the School.
RGS Worcester Hosts Cricket Festival RGS Worcester welcomed five fellow Royal Grammar Schools for the 39th RGS Schools’ Cricket Festival, celebrating five days of competitive cricket, outstanding performances and the enduring friendship between the historic RGS schools. Lancaster Royal Grammar School were crowned Festival champions, while RGS Worcester produced an excellent week to finish as runners-up, with a series of impressive performances against strong opposition. The Festival also featured several record-breaking moments, including the competition’s first-ever 400-plus team score and its first tied match, making it one of the most memorable Festivals in recent years. Congratulations to all the players, officials, volunteers and staff who helped make this year’s Festival such a success.
Stars, Stripes & Skylines Thirty-four Lower Sixth pupils studying Politics, History, Business and Economics travelled to Washington, DC and New York City for an unforgettable educational visit, bringing their classroom learning to life. From exploring the US Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial and the moving 9/11 Memorial, to taking in the iconic New York skyline from the Top of the Rock, pupils gained first-hand insight into American history, politics and culture. The trip also included Broadway’s SIX and the vibrant atmosphere of Times Square, making it a memorable introduction to the United States.
Bonjour, Paris! Lower School pupils enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Paris, bringing their French studies to life while experiencing the culture, history and landmarks of France. From exploring the streets of Montmartre and visiting the SacréCœur, Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower, to cruising along the River Seine, pupils immersed themselves in French life. A visit to Disneyland Paris completed a memorable trip, providing opportunities to practise their language skills, broaden their cultural understanding and create lasting memories together.
Taking Learning to New Heights RGS Worcester has launched an exciting new Flying Club in partnership with British Young Pilots, giving pupils the opportunity to explore the world of aviation through hands-on learning and real flying experiences. Combining flight theory, professional flight simulators and practical lessons in the air, the programme offers a unique introduction to aviation while bringing STEM subjects to life. Flying Club encourages pupils to explore future careers in aviation and engineering. Following a structured programme led by qualified instructors, pupils have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and flying skills, with some ultimately able to work towards achieving a pilot’s licence before leaving School.
In the Driving Seat RGS Worcester’s Car Club is gaining national recognition as pupils continue restoring a rare 1953 Citroën Traction Avant ‘Big 6’. The ambitious project was recently featured in Floating Power magazine, celebrating the practical engineering skills pupils are developing through the restoration, with support from industry experts. The Car Club pupils have enjoyed the experience of working with Morgan cars on the project.
The Fellowship of the Arts This year’s Creative Arts Evening transformed RGS Worcester into a vibrant celebration of creativity, bringing together pupils, staff and families to experience the breadth of artistic talent across the School. Through exhibitions, live music, storytelling, design, fashion and performance, pupils showcased their imagination, technical skill and creativity in an evening inspired by the worlds of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’. From GCSE and A Level exhibitions to poetry readings, orchestral performances and a spectacular Fashion Showcase, ‘The Fellowship of the Arts’ highlighted the outstanding opportunities available across the Creative Arts. Bringing together departments from across the School, the evening celebrated collaboration, innovation and the confidence of pupils to create, perform and inspire.
Fashion Forward RGS Worcester celebrated an outstanding achievement in this year’s Young Fashion Designer UK (YFDUK) competition, hosting the National Final while also seeing four pupils recognised among the country’s most talented young designers. Ruby was crowned Year Nine National Winner for her striking outfit created from recycled ties, while Joyce, Dotti and Kate all received Highly Commended awards for their innovative and beautifully executed designs.
Designing for Madonna Former RGS Worcester pupil and Textiles Scholar Ed (2014-16) is making his mark in the fashion industry after designing the corset worn by Madonna during her surprise performance with Sabrina Carpenter at the Coachella Festival in California.
A Year of Music Music continued to flourish with performances ranging from informal Year group tea-time concerts and ‘RGS Live’ to ‘Cabaret’, the ‘Creative Arts Evening’ and concerts in the magnificent setting of Worcester Cathedral. Over 30 concerts were enjoyed over the course of the year. A particular highlight of the year was ‘Carnival of the Animals’, which brought together choirs, dancers and orchestral musicians from across the Family of Schools for a spectacular performance in Worcester Cathedral. Performed to a sell-out audience, the concert celebrated the depth of musical talent across the Schools and the many opportunities available for pupils to perform, collaborate and develop their confidence on stage.
Art on Display
At the Creative Arts Evening a gallery-style display of GCSE and A Level Art transformed the space into a professional exhibition, allowing visitors to appreciate each piece individually while celebrating the creativity and talent of pupils. Here are just some of the wonderful pieces.
Academic Olympiad Excellence RGS Worcester pupils have once again excelled in national academic competitions across a wide range of subjects. In the Junior Maths Challenge, 81 pupils across Years Seven and Eight received certificates, including 21 Gold Awards, while pupils also celebrated outstanding success in the Biology Challenge and Physics Olympiads, achieving 361 medals and 42 Commendations across the competitions. Success extended beyond STEM subjects, with Zac winning the University of Worcester Humanities Essay Prize for Politics. RGS Worcester also reached the finals of the Economics World Cup, where pupils tackled a complex realworld economic challenge, demonstrating the analytical thinking and academic ambition that characterise learning across the School.

DT Engineering Excellence RGS Worcester is celebrating an outstanding year of engineering success after two pupils were awarded the prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship. Year Eleven pupil Arthur secured the highly competitive award, while a pupil joining the Sixth Form this September also achieved an Arkwright Scholarship following support from the School’s Design Technology Department. The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship recognises exceptional technical ability, creativity and problem-solving skills while providing mentoring and valuable industry opportunities. Achieving two Scholarships in one year is a superb accomplishment and reflects the strength of engineering education at RGS Worcester.
From RGS to Formula 1 Old Elizabethan Amy returned to RGS Worcester as the Guest of Honour at the Upper Sixth Graduation Evening, inspiring pupils as they celebrated the next stage of their own journeys. Amy began her education at RGS Springfield before attending RGS Worcester from 2012-19, where she was an Academic and Design Technology scholar, Captain of the Greenpower Racing Team and a member of the successful Jaguar Land Rover 4x4 in Schools teams. Since leaving RGS, Amy has achieved a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering and now works as an Aerodynamics Production Planner with the Atlassian Williams F1 Team. Her address highlighted how the opportunities and experiences available at RGS can open doors to exceptional careers.
Greenpower Team Gears Up RGS Worcester’s Greenpower team gives pupils the opportunity to design, build and race an electric car, developing engineering knowledge, teamwork and problem-solving skills through national motorsport competition. This year’s Year Seven team took to the track at Mallory Park, putting months of preparation into practice on a professional racing circuit. Pupils managed the pit lane, refined race strategy and tested their car on track.
Middle-earth Comes to the RGS Stage Lower School pupils delighted audiences with a magical production of ‘The Hobbit’, bringing Tolkien’s much-loved adventure vividly to life through imaginative storytelling, striking costumes and memorable performances. From the peaceful Shire to the dramatic Lonely Mountain, the production showcased the confidence, creativity and enthusiasm of the young cast as they transported audiences on Bilbo Baggins’ epic journey. ‘The Hobbit’ highlighted the exceptional opportunities available to pupils from an early age at RGS Worcester, with performers, musicians, technicians and backstage teams working together to create an unforgettable theatrical experience. It was a wonderful celebration of the talent, teamwork and creativity that flourish throughout the Lower School.
The ‘Silver Shoes’ Dance Showcase Pupils from RGS Worcester and RGS Dodderhill took audiences on a journey to Oz in this year’s ‘Silver Shoes’ Dance Showcase, bringing ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ to life through a vibrant programme of Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Street, Lyrical and Musical Theatre. Featuring performers from Years Seven to Ten and the Lower Sixth, the showcase highlighted the pupils’ technical ability, expressive storytelling and creativity, with several dancers also choreographing their own ensemble pieces.
Standing Ovation for LAMDA Success RGS Worcester pupils celebrated outstanding success in their London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) Acting examinations, with all 21 pupils entered achieving Distinctions. The results included an impressive number of advanced Bronze and Silver Medal qualifications, which carry UCAS tariff points and recognise a high level of performance and communication skills.
Apple Distinguished Schools Global Summit 2026
Apple Distinguished Schools Global Summit at RGS Worcester Pupils aged 11 to 18 from across The RGS Worcester Family of Schools shared their digital leadership expertise with 250 school leaders and educators from around the world at the Apple Distinguished Schools Global Summit, hosted at RGS Worcester. During their session, ‘Empowered by Purpose: A Masterclass in Student-Led Innovation’, pupils demonstrated how the Digital Leader and AI Programme works in practice and helped delegates consider how pupil digital leadership could be established in their own schools. The summit also saw Headmaster, Mr John Pitt and Director of Innovation, Mr John Jones, deliver keynote speeches, while RGS musicians performed and Prefects welcomed delegates. Delegates from every continent joined the conference, shared their ideas and enjoyed visiting RGS Worcester. Apple celebrated 30 years of the Apple Distinguished Schools programme at the event. A film of the Global Summit was made and shared with Tim Cook, CEO of Apple at the time.

A Space to Inspire Innovation RGS Worcester officially opened The Mahjoor Innovation Centre, a flexible learning environment designed to encourage collaboration, creativity and independent thinking. With adaptable layouts and integrated technology, the Centre has been created to support the collaborative ways in which pupils will learn, develop ideas and work both at School and beyond. Opened by former pupil and entrepreneur Fasha Mahjoor, whose generosity and vision made the project possible, the Centre will be used for lessons, projectbased learning, presentations, educational partnerships and staff development. A Grand Entrance The entrance to Perrins Hall, designed by RGS parents Mr and Mrs Rea from Glazzards Architects has been thoughtfully enhanced with a new stone frontage and glass doors, creating a more welcoming and accessible entrance while respecting the historic character of the listed building. The improvements also support better heat retention, helping to ensure that this much-loved space continues to serve the School community for years to come. The project was made possible through the generous support of Ian Carmichael (OE) and Maggie Carmichael.

Celebrating Our Heritage Pupils and staff from across The RGS Worcester Family of Schools gathered in Worcester Cathedral for the annual Commemoration Service, celebrating the rich heritage of one of the world’s oldest schools while looking confidently to the future. The service brought together the communities of RGS Worcester, RGS The Grange and RGS Dodderhill to give thanks for the generations of founders, benefactors, staff and pupils who have shaped the Schools over many centuries. Music, readings and prayers were led by pupils from across The Family of Schools, reflecting the shared values that unite the RGS community. Guest of Honour, Rev. Dr Rich Johnson, encouraged pupils to use their education, talents and opportunities in the service of others, inspiring them to become “builders and benefactors” for future generations.
Outstanding GCSE Results for RGS Dodderhill Pupils RGS Dodderhill is delighted to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our Year Eleven pupils in this year’s GCSE examinations. With 96% of all grades awarded at 9 - 4, an outstanding 32% of all pupils achieving grades 9 - 7 and a further 56% of all pupils gaining at least one grade 9 - 8, these results highlight the power of individualised girls only provision which helps every pupil feel known and supported to achieve their best. I am immensely proud of every one of our pupils and the achievements they have made. Behind every set of results is a story of hard work, determination and personal growth, and it is important that we celebrate every pupil’s individual journey. Whether they have achieved exceptional grades or made significant progress from their starting point, each success is something to be proud of.

Summer Sport Remix Pupils from Years Five to Ten enjoyed an action-packed Summer Sport Remix, taking part in a wide variety of sporting activities designed to encourage participation, teamwork and the opportunity to try something new. Throughout the day, pupils rotated through netball, rounders, dodgeball, cricket, track events, javelin, shot put, discus and long jump, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm, determination and excellent sportsmanship. The event celebrated participation as much as performance, with pupils supporting one another, trying new activities and enjoying every opportunity to get involved. It was a fantastic way to round off the term, celebrating sport, teamwork and the vibrant spirit of RGS Dodderhill.
ISA Athletics Success RGS Dodderhill pupils enjoyed an excellent day of competition at the ISA Athletics Championships in Leicester, producing superb performances. Highlights included Poppy claiming a Silver medal in the javelin, while Lori and Jess reached the 100m final. Amarah and Poppy qualified for the 200m final, Imogen finished fourth in the 800m, and both the Year Seven and Years Ten and Eleven relay teams secured impressive fourthplace finishes.
District Athletics RGS Dodderhill pupils produced an excellent team performance at the North Worcester Key Stage Three District Athletics Championships held at The Ryland Centre. Competing across a range of track and field events, pupils demonstrated determination, resilience and teamwork, representing the School with pride throughout the competition.

Junior Maths Challenge Success RGS Dodderhill pupils enjoyed outstanding success in this year’s UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, with every participant receiving a certificate in recognition of their achievement. Congratulations to Tabitha, Charlotte and Olivia for achieving Silver, and Ottilie for achieving Gold. A special congratulations goes to Eleanor, who achieved Gold, recorded the highest score in the School and qualified for the UKMT Junior Kangaroo.

A Nurturing Start RGS Dodderhill Nursery provides children aged two to four with a warm, happy and nurturing environment where they are known as individuals and encouraged to grow in confidence through play, creativity and exploration. With small group sizes, experienced staff and specialist experiences including Forest School, Music, PE, Ballet and French, every day is filled with opportunities to discover, learn and thrive. Set within the beautiful RGS Dodderhill campus, the Nursery gives children the very best start to their educational journey.
A wide-ranging programme of clubs, activities and enrichment opportunities encourages pupils to be curious, active and involved beyond the classroom. Each term offers a diverse choice of activities, from sport, music, art and drama to debating, coding, environmental initiatives and community projects, giving every pupil the opportunity to discover new interests and develop existing talents. Recent clubs have included photography, pottery and first aid, reflecting the breadth of experiences available.
A ‘Celebration of Summer’ A ‘Celebration of Summer’ celebrated the exceptional talent, creativity and dedication of RGS Dodderhill pupils. Performances from the Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, Drama Company, Dance Company, Wind Band and String Quartet were complemented by an impressive programme of solos and duets from pupils in Years Seven to Ten. The evening also marked the first event led by the School’s Performing Arts Captains, whose leadership helped ensure the event ran seamlessly. Every performance reflected the hard work, confidence and enthusiasm of the pupils, making the event a fitting celebration of the thriving Performing Arts programme at RGS Dodderhill.
ABRSM Music Exam Celebrations Well done to RGS Dodderhill pupils on their recent music examination results, celebrating their hard work, commitment and continued musical development. Izzy achieved Grade 7 Piano and is now working towards the prestigious Grade 8. Jenny passed Grade 4 Flute, Lottie was awarded a Distinction in Grade 2 Musical Theatre, and Lolly achieved a Merit in Grade 1 Musical Theatre.
LAMDA Success Congratulations to RGS Dodderhill pupils on their outstanding LAMDA examination results. Through the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) qualifications, pupils develop confidence, communication, public speaking and performance skills that benefit them both in and beyond the classroom. The excellent results reflect the hard work, commitment and enthusiasm of every pupil who took part. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the confidence they have gained through the programme.
Celebrating Creativity Families and friends were welcomed to the annual Art & Textiles Exhibition, where pupils’ artwork and textile creations were proudly displayed in a gallery-style exhibition. From Fine Art and Graphic Art to Textiles, the exhibition celebrated the imagination, creativity and technical skills developed throughout the year, with bold artistic pieces and beautifully crafted designs on display. The evening provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate pupils’ achievements and admire the breadth of artistic talent across RGS Dodderhill.
Learning Beyond the Classroom Educational visits play an important role in bringing learning to life at RGS Dodderhill. Year Ten Geography pupils travelled to the Long Mynd for a river fieldwork study, collecting data and investigating river features in a stunning natural environment. The hands-on experience allowed pupils to apply their classroom knowledge while developing practical fieldwork skills. Meanwhile, Year Eight and Year Nine pupils enjoyed an inspiring visit to the National Space Centre, exploring interactive exhibits and discovering more about space, science and the universe. Both visits encouraged curiosity, strengthened classroom learning and provided memorable experiences beyond the school gates.
Spectacular Splashes of Colour The school community came together for a spectacular Colour Run to celebrate the end of term in style. Pupils raced around the course, laughing, cheering each other on and finishing covered from head to toe in a vibrant array of colours. With an atmosphere full of excitement and smiles, the event marked the end of another successful year, bringing pupils together for an afternoon of fun and celebration.
Silver DofE Expedition Year Ten pupils successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award qualifying expedition, navigating routes across Wenlock Edge, the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones in Shropshire. Building on the skills developed during their practice expedition, they tackled the demanding route with confidence, determination and growing independence. Throughout the expedition, pupils showed outstanding teamwork and resilience, supporting one another and overcoming every challenge along the way. Despite cold and wet conditions at times, they completed the expedition with a tremendous sense of achievement.

A Day of Sporting Spirit RGS The Grange’s annual Sports Day brought the whole School together for a fantastic celebration of teamwork, determination and friendly competition. From Pre-Prep through to Years Three to Six, every pupil embraced the opportunity to take part, giving their best in a range of track and field events while enthusiastically cheering on their classmates.
The day was filled with energy, encouragement and outstanding sportsmanship, with older pupils supporting and inspiring the younger children throughout the competition. It was a wonderful celebration of the School’s community spirit and a memorable day enjoyed by pupils, staff and families alike.
The Perfect Start to School Life Nursery pupils enjoy a rich programme of activities designed to prepare them for the move into Reception. Every week includes experiences such as Forest School, PE, small-group learning and plenty of time to explore the School’s exceptional outdoor spaces, from the adventure playground to the all-weather pitch and expansive 16-acre field. By introducing children to many of the opportunities they will experience throughout Prep School, our Nursery provides a seamless transition into Reception. Through play, exploration and expert teaching, pupils develop the skills, confidence and love of learning that help them thrive from their very first day at RGS The Grange.
Year Two Steps Back in Time Year Two travelled back to 1666 during an immersive Great Fire of London workshop, bringing one of Britain’s most famous historical events to life. Throughout the day, pupils explored what life was like in seventeenth-century London, learning about overcrowded streets, the Great Plague, Tudor homes and the events that led to the Great Fire. The workshop concluded with a hands-on finale, as pupils worked together to tackle fires using traditional-style water pumps.
Building Digital Skills Pre-Prep pupils develop creativity, problem-solving and coding skills through hands-on sessions with LEGO® Spike, building and programming their own creations. These early experiences provide a strong foundation for digital learning, with many pupils going on to become Lego Leaders in the Prep Department, where they take on more advanced challenges while supporting and inspiring younger pupils.
Adventure Awaits
Learning Beyond the Classroom This summer, pupils swapped the computer suite for the great outdoors as Forest School became the setting for their Computing lessons. Through activities including shelter building for people and wildlife, teamwork challenges and creative exploration using natural materials, pupils developed problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills in a different environment. Set within RGS The Grange’s 50-acre campus, these sessions demonstrated how learning beyond the classroom builds confidence, resilience and independence while encouraging pupils to connect with nature.
Dream Jobs Bring Real-World Replies As part of their English lessons, Year Six pupils put their persuasive writing skills to the test by applying for their dream jobs. They learnt how to write professional application letters using the appropriate tone and structure. The results have been beyond anything they expected. One pupil received a personal reply from Jamie Laing after applying to become a Social Media Manager at Candy Kittens, complete with a handwritten letter and boxes of sweets. Another pupil, who applied for a design role at Holland Cooper, was delighted to receive a handwritten response and a selection of gifts from the company. The project gave pupils an insight into the world of work, while introducing them to the skills and confidence needed for future careers.
From Year Two onwards, every pupil enjoys a residential experience, with more than 50 trips and visits taking place throughout the year. Whether it is a first two-night outdoor adventure in Year Two, a Bushcraft camping experience in Year Four or, by Year Six, a residential in France, each trip is designed to broaden horizons, build independence and confidence, and create lifelong memories as pupils progress through their Prep School journey.
Year Six Brings Annie Jr. to Life Year Six pupils took to the stage with confidence, energy and talent in their production of Annie Jr., delighting audiences with a heartwarming performance of the much-loved musical. From solo performances to lively ensemble numbers, the cast brought the story to life with impressive acting, singing and choreography, supported by a dedicated backstage crew. The production received high praise from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), which commended the pupils’ enthusiasm, characterisation and musical performances, describing the finale as “rousing” and congratulating everyone involved on a fantastic show.
Summer Showcase Year Five pupils celebrated their musical learning with a Summer Music Showcase, performing in front of family and friends. The showcase highlighted the progress they have made throughout the year, from singing in harmony as a year group and choir to performing together as a class band on a wide range of instruments. It is just one of the many performance opportunities available at RGS The Grange, where pupils build their confidence through year group showcases before progressing to larger concerts including the Choir this year singing at the Royal Albert Hall.
RGS The Grange Reaches National Barnardo’s Choir Final The choir proudly represented both the School and Worcestershire at the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition 2026 Junior Grand Final, held at Birmingham Symphony Hall. Having earned their place among the country’s finest junior choirs, the pupils performed alongside talented choirs from across Great Britain. As the only school from Worcestershire to reach the national final, it was a tremendous achievement and a wonderful opportunity to perform on such a prestigious stage. The pupils made the School incredibly proud with their confident and accomplished performance, which highlighted the musical talent, dedication and teamwork that earned them a place in the Grand Final. Reaching this national stage was an outstanding achievement and an unforgettable experience that the whole School community celebrated.
Speech Day Current RGS The Grange parent, actress, presenter and media personality Afshan Azad was the Guest of Honour at Speech Day 2026. Best known for playing Padma Patil in five of the Harry Potter films, Afshan shared how an audition she attended “just for the fun of it” after casting agents visited her school led to a life-changing opportunity and an unexpected career. She encouraged pupils to seize every opportunity that comes their way, reminding them that they never know where it might lead.
Young Musicians Take to the Stage Reception, Years One and Two pupils delighted families with a wonderful Musical Showcase celebrating their growing confidence and musical talent. From Reception’s imaginative performances of ‘The Toothbrush Song’ and ‘In the Forest’, to Year One’s lively retelling of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and Year Two’s varied programme featuring body percussion, recorders and songs inspired by the Great Fire of London, every pupil took to the stage with enthusiasm.
National IAPS Swimming Final Congratulations to Angela on an outstanding achievement at the National IAPS Swimming Finals. Competing at the iconic Olympic Pool in Stratford alongside some of the country’s finest young swimmers, Angela delivered an excellent performance in the heats to secure her place in the final. Angela went on to finish an impressive tenth in the country.
Regional Cricket The Under Eleven Boys’ Cricket Team enjoyed an excellent season, finishing as Regional Runners-Up after a series of impressive performances against some of the strongest schools in the region. Having first been crowned County Champions, the team progressed to the regional finals, where they demonstrated skill, determination and teamwork throughout the competition. Alongside the team’s success, RGS The Grange was named one of The Cricketer’s Top 50 Prep Schools in the UK, recognising the strength of the School’s cricket programme and the commitment shown by pupils and coaches alike.
National Shooting Champions The Under Eleven Shooting Team claimed the IAPS National Championship with a superb performance at the West London Shooting School, competing against schools from across the country. Will finished as individual runner-up with an outstanding score of 26 out of 30, closely followed by Harry with 24 out of 30. In her first ever competition, Ava also impressed, finishing as runner-up in the girls’ competition.
Top Eight in the Country The Under Eleven Boys’ Football Team secured a place in the quarter-finals of the ISFA National Finals at St George’s Park, finishing among the top eight teams in the country. The boys impressed throughout the competition before their journey came to an end against the eventual national champions.
Football Achievement The Under Eleven Girls’ Football Team enjoyed a day at the ISFA National Finals at St George’s Park. The girls finished third in their group, narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals on goal difference. Impressively, the team they finished level on points with went on to become the national champions, underlining the quality of the competition.
National Triathlon Champions! RGS The Grange celebrated success at the IAPS National Triathlon Championships. Competing against the best young triathletes from across the country, our pupils produced an outstanding set of performances. Arthur was crowned Under Ten National Champion, while Lucas finished as Under Eleven National Runner-up. The pair combined with Rupert and Jude to secure the Under Eleven Boys’ Team National Championship title. Year Five girls Annie and Edie also impressed with excellent top-25 finishes in their category.

RGS Springfield Nursery and RGS Dodderhill Nursery provide dedicated nursery settings for children aged 2-4, while Nursery and Pre-School at RGS The Grange offer the first stage of a child’s journey through the School, with a natural transition to Reception and beyond. It is intended that RGS Springfield will offer Nursery from 3 months later this term.
