n any year, a Cricket Festival allows teams to learn how to sustain and develop performance across a number of high class matches in close succession. After the last few months, taking part in sport is all the more important and it has been a particular joy to see a return of competitive fixtures recently. We are delighted that we are able to go ahead with hosting the RGS Cricket Festival and I hope you all enjoy the experience. Welcome to Newcastle!

am writing this in late May as we scramble to get logistics finalised, having just received confirmation that we can proceed with the RGS Newcastle Cricket Festival 2021. A week away with friends, playing competitive sport against likeminded opponents is something that should be cherished, more so given circumstances since we were last together in 2019 at the brilliant RGS Worcester Festival. And so it is with great pleasure (and considerable relief!) that we welcome you all to Newcastle and hope that you enjoy your week. You will be playing on some excellent grounds, loaned to us amongst busy schedules, so please look after them… .similarly the umpires, staff and opposition. All the very best.

RGS Bursary Campaign The RGS Bursary Campaign, supported entirely by voluntary donations, has supported almost 400 students since the campaign was launched in 2002. Currently, 82 RGS students are benefiting from bursary funding, the vast majority on a 100% bursary in line with our commitment to direct our finite funds to those who demonstrate the greatest need. The immediate impact is tangible. And yet, if this story is to continue, long term, very long term, we need to grow the fund both in terms of financial strength and the numbers of bursary students. From the Penrith generation of 1939 - 1944, to the current day, Old Novocastrians provide valuable support to the Bursary Campaign, along with current and former parents and staff, local charitable trusts and North-East businesses. We are grateful for every donation which we spend with great care.
