El rendimiento académico de los estudiantes universitarios podría estar afectado por diversos factores, entre ellos, la metodología del docente, los hábitos de estudio, la vocación, la autoestima, éste último es de gran importancia desde muy temprana edad. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue explorar el nivel de autoestima de los estudiantes de 4° y 5° año de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (UNT) en el año 2015. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. La población estuvo compuesta por 97 estudiantes que cursaban 4° y 5° año de la Carrera de Medicina de la UNT. Se utilizó una encuesta que fue realizada en base a la Escala de Rosenberg para autoestima, validada en Buenos Aires en el año 2010. Las variables estudiadas fueron: nivel de autoestima, autopercepción del desempeño académico, materias desaprobadas, número de exámenes de ingresos. El 89% de la población mostró un nivel normal de autoestima, siendo la media del nivel de autoestima de 29.92, correspondiendo a un nivel de autoestima medio. ABSTRACT: One can say that there are many factors that affect or may be affecting the academic performance of college students, among them include the methodology of teaching, study habits, vocation and many others, but there is another very important and that has to do from an early age, this is the General autoestima.Objetivo: Determine the level of self-esteem of students of 4th and 5th year medical career in medical school at the national university of Tucuman , in 2015. Specific Objectives: Relate self-perception of academic performance with self-esteem; Relate self-esteem disproved number of materials and number of entrance examinations; Relate self-perception of academic performance with the aforementioned variables. A descriptive study was conducted cross sectional. The population consisted of 97 students who were enrolled in 4th and 5th grade of the Medical Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Tucuman. The survey was conducted by researchers based on Rosenberg self-esteem scale, validated in the city of Buenos Aires in 2010. Variables: Level of self-esteem, self-perception of academic performance, disproved materials, number of examinations of income. It was found that 89% of the population showed a normal level of self-esteem, the average score of self-esteem Rosenberg scale as 29.92, corresponding to an average level of self-esteem.
