Dear Readers,

There is a particular kind of travel that does not announce itself loudly It arrives quietly in the way the light falls across the Huangpu River at dusk, in the scent of frangipani drifting through an open pavilion in Nusa Dua, in the moment a chef lifts a whole fish from the flames and the entire table leans forward at once

This is the travel that Tides & Tables was made for

Our June edition began, as the best editions always do, with a map and a question: what does the world's most compelling hospitality look like right now, across every continent and culture? The answer, as you will find in the pages that follow, is surprisingly consistent The properties that move us most are those that know exactly where they are that draw their identity from their landscape, their history and their community rather than importing a version of luxury from somewhere else entirely
