Biography / Experience
Duringmyteachingcareer,Ialwaysengagedwith colleaguesandcommunitymembersoutsideofschool hours. For20years,Iwasateacherrepresentativefor thelocalCanadianParentsforFrenchinFlinFlon. Togetherwithparents,fellowteachersandschool divisionadministrators,weidentifiedpriorities,set goals,plannedcommunityevents,organizedstudent exchangesandtravelabroad,andfacilitated professionaldevelopmentforFrenchImmersion teachersinthenorth.
For3years,IwasamemberoftheFlinFlonTeachers’Associationand workedwithcolleaguestoaddressconcernsoflocalteacherswithprovincialMTS reps,especiallyintheareaofeducationalfinance. WhenImovedtosouthern Manitoba,IjoinedtheManitobaAssociationofTeachersofFrench(MATF)and servedontheExecutivefor5years. ThisinvolvedcollaboratingwithfellowFrench teachersfromaroundtheprovincetoidentifyprofessionaldevelopmentneeds, organizeourannualMTSPDDayconference,organizestudentworkshops, enrichmentactivities,andapplyforgovernmentgrants.
Atmyretirementin2021,IbecameamemberofRTAM. InFebruary2025,at theinvitationofanRTAMmember,IjoinedtheBoardofDirectorsandthen,in April,joinedtheRTAMExecutiveasaMember-at-largetoassistwiththehiringof ournewExecutiveDirector. DuringmytimeontheBoardofDirectors,Ihavebeen thechairoftheMembershipCommittee,workedwiththeRTAMadministrative teamtoreviewandamendpolicy,helpedsetnewprioritiesandexploredwaysto ensureourorganization’sprosperousfuture. Ialsoleadthe Club de lecture francophone SIGtoconnectFrancophoneRTAMmemberswhoenjoyreadingand discussingFrenchliterature. IthasbeenmypleasuretorepresentRTAMattheIG WalkforAlzheimer'sinMay,theGoldeyesbaseballgameinJune,theSummer SwingGolfTournamentinSeptemberandmeetingswithMembersofour LegislativeAssembly.

Election Statement
Myteachingcareerspanned3decadesand3schooldivisionsacrosstheprovinceFlinFloninthenorth,Steinbachinthesouth,andRiverEastTransconain Winnipeg. Lifeandneedsinthesecommunitiesaredifferent;onesolutionisnot bestforall. Iunderstandtheimportanceofempoweringlocalcommunitygroups aroundtheprovince,astheyknowtheircommunitiesbest. Ialsobelievethatwe retiredteachersarestrongerwhenweareconnectedtoeachother. Aseducators, wesharecommonvalues,interestsandconcerns. RTAMplaysakeyroleinuniting us,inadvocatingforseniors’needsandworkingforourpersonalandcollective well-being. IhaveenjoyedcollaboratingwithmyfellowBoardmembersofRTAM. I hopetocontinuetopromotethevaluablecontributionsofRTAManditsmembers aroundtheprovince,sothatourassociationcangrowandserveitsmembersfor generationstocome.

Brief Biography
Iretiredafter36yearsasaneducatorand administrator,withthemajorityofmycareerspent workinginFrenchImmersionandFrançaisschools. Throughoutmyprofessionallife,Iwasactively engagedinbothteachingandleadershiproles,whereI hadtheprivilegeofsupportingstudents,staff,and familieswithindiverseschoolcommunities.
Beyondtheclassroomandschooladministration,I contributedtoseveralassociationsofteachersand administratorswithinthedivisionsIserved.Theseexperiencesreinforcedforme thevalueofcollaboration,advocacy,andlifelonglearning,andtheydeepenedmy understandingoftheimportanceofprofessionalinvolvementateverystageof one’scareer.
Now,inretirement,Icontinuetofindfulfillmentincontributingtothewell-being andprofessionallifeofeducators.MycurrentroleastreasurerofRTAMhas allowedmetosupporttheorganizationinameaningfulwaywhileremaining connectedtocolleagueswhoshareapassionforeducation.
Why I Am Seeking Election
Ibelievestronglythatretiredteachersbenefitfromstayingengagedwiththe issues,activities,andopportunitiesthatdirectlyaffectusasprofessionalsandasa community.RTAMplaysavitalroleinofferingsocialactivities,specialinterest groups,andinformativeworkshopsthatsupportmembersinretirement.
Iamseekingre-electionbecauseIwishtocontinueservingRTAMintheroleof treasurer.Inmyfirstterm,Ihaveenjoyedtheresponsibilityofcontributingtothe soundmanagementofRTAM’sresourcesandsupportingtheBoardinitsmissionto servememberseffectively.Iwouldbehonouredtocontinuethiswork,ensuring transparency,accountability,andstabilityinRTAM’sfinancialmatters.
Asbothaneducatorandadministrator,Ihavealwaysbelievedintheimportanceof activeparticipationandservice.Inretirement,thisbeliefremainsunchanged.By

IamcurrentlyafullmemberofRTAM,who startedsupportingtheBoard,asaDirectorAt LargeinJune,2024.Ithasbeen18monthswith multiplechanges,challenges,andcrisesofone kindoranother.AsaDirectorAtLargeduringthe initialmeetingoftheBoard,itwasquiteapparent thattheBoarddidnothaveafullslateofpeople. Wewere2or3membersshortofafullBoardof Directors,andExecutivememberpositionswere alsodownbyoneortwomembers.IwanttocomplimenttheBoardinitsabilityto workthroughoraroundissuestomakethe8-memberboardviableandtheir abilitytocarrythedemandsplaceduponthemforward.

IhaveservedontheStudentAwardscommitteeforafourthyear.Inmyopinionthis isoneofthemostupliftingcommitteestobecomeamemberofwithinRTAM.The achievementsofthestudentapplicantsremindusthatthefuturebelongsto grandchildrenwiththeloveandsupportoftheirgrandparents.
IalsoworkedwithasmalldedicatedgroupofRTAMmemberswhoservedona collapsedAdvocacy(politicalactioncommittee),PublicRelations,andPension Committee,includingJoanGoble(Thompson),whoservedRTAMasPresident,Past President,andgaveofherknowledgerelatedtotheseareas,whileJuliaMcKay(The Pas),GuyHansen(formerlyThompson/nowWinnipeg),andKarenMozdenz (Winnipeg)whowerehelpfultotheboardbydiscussingissuesrelatedtotheareas mentioned.ThecommitteemembersandIagreedtorecommendthatthis committee(s)structureneedstobereviewed.
