and bringing a sizeable portion of our already-low per-minute rates even lower. We always want to give Ultra customers the best service we possibly can at the most affordable rates, and of course we want to provide retailers with even more reasons to continue "Picking Purple." These plan changes are our latest advancement in fulfilling that promise.

Please note that if a customer already subscribes to the $29 or $44 plan, they'd need to actually make the switch to one of the new plans in order to gain the benefits listed here. Otherwise, their plan will stay exactly the same, and they may remain on their current plan for as long as they'd like. (However, once they switch to a new plan, they cannot go back to a Classic plan.)

SECOND,

we're increasing the number of unlimited-calling destinations on every one of our existing Ultra plans. Subscribers on our $19, $34 and $44 plans now get unlimited calling to over 30 destinations, while our $29, $39, $49, and $59 plans include unlimited calling to over 60 destinations.

THIRD: A large portion of Ultra destinations have new per-minute rates,

and while a great deal of them are lower, a few have been raised. Customers who are heavy-callers to countries with rate changes will receive direct SMS messages telling them about the rate changes. FOR MORE DETAILS ON THIS NEW PLAN REFRESH, visit UltraAgents.com starting

June 2nd, or contact us with any questions at salesops@ultra.me.

LAST

but not least, we want to make sure you know that Ultra's plans aren't the only thing getting a refresh – our website is, too! Ultra's online home is getting a major overhaul, and this month it'll be making the transformation from Ultra.me into the new UltraMobile.com. Be sure to check out the updated site at its new online address!

Pandas are protected in their Chinese mountain habitats by strict conservation laws, and the panda sanctuaries in China's Sichuan province are even recognized on UNESCO's World Heritage list. STICKY RICE IS EVEN STICKIER THAN YOU THINK: The pieces of the Great Wall of China built during the Ming dynasty (roughly 600 years ago) are held together by a mixture of powdered limestone and sticky rice. This mortar is exceptionally weather-resistant, and is still used today for restoring historic structures.

DID YOU KNOW.. ? June 17 marks the 70th anniversary of the first mobile phone call, and we've decided to celebrate by looking at the evolution of the mobile phone through the years: THE FIRST WIRELESS PHONE CALL WAS MADE IN 1946 from a

dashboard phone through a network developed by Bell Labs. The service would span over 100 cities, but each local network could only handle three callers at a time. While cellular technology was still decades away, this was a crucial first step toward the mobile calling of today.

THE FIRST HANDHELD CELLULAR CALL WAS MADE IN 1973 on

a prototype of what would later become Motorola's DynaTAC 8000X. Aptly nicknamed "The Brick," this phone weighed about 2 pounds and required 10 hours of charging for 30 minutes of use. The DynaTAC went on sale in 1984 with a retail price of $3995 (equivalent to $9000 today). THE ANALOG VERSION OF THE FIRST FLIP PHONE – Motorola's

Micro TAC 9800X – was released in 1989. Its light weight and pocketfriendly size made it a groundbreaking advancement in the world of handheld phones.

JUNE 2016

IBM LAUNCHED THE SIMON IN 1994, and the device is widely

considered to be the world's first smartphone. In addition to making phone calls, it was used for paging, faxing, and emails. The Simon featured a backlit touchscreen, built-in modem, and a mindblowingat-the-time 1 MB of memory.

THE YEAR 2000 SAW THE DEBUT OF THE Nokia 3310 which is still

regarded as one of the best mobile phones ever made due to its compact size and impressive durability. It boasted innovative features like voice dialing, mobile chat, picture messaging, and games – including Snake II, of course! WITH THE MID-2000'S CAME THE RELEASE OF THE MOTOROLA RAZR, which had the thinnest profile of any phone available at the

time. Its sleek design, fashionable color options, and relatively modest price made it a fixture in pop culture, and it became the bestselling "clamshell" phone of all time.

pretty sure you're already well-informed about this one.

At Ultra, we are fascinated – and humbled – by the advancements of phone technology over such a relatively short period of time. We can't wait to see what's next, and we know Ultra will be right at the forefront of whatever the future of mobile calling brings!

WHEN DID YOU FIRST BECOME A N U LT R A ? I've been onboard from the beginning! In early 2012, I started working for Ultra's company founders as a web developer on some non-Ultra related projects. I was lucky enough to take part in the development and launch of Ultra Mobile later that year, and have been on the team ever since. H O W I S U LT R A D I F F E R E N T F R O M A N Y O T H E R C O M PA N Y YOU'VE WORKED FOR? Ultra is definitely the youngest company I've ever worked for, and therefore the fastest-paced and most exciting. I've been given the opportunity to learn skill sets based on company needs, and to work with up-and-coming technologies that are necessary to keep the business right on the bleeding edge. It also stands out culturally, both with the company's vibe

and the nature of the product. Ultra offers internationally-focused service, and the diversity and attitude of the office definitely reflect that. The response from our retailer channel was very positive, and it continues to provide us a foundation on which we set ourselves apart from the competition. W H AT ' S T H E G E E K I E S T T H I N G ABOUT YOU? Interest-wise, my geekiness manifests itself in my fandom of

"The Bachelor" and all of its spin-offs. On a personal level, I am highly prone to weird ailments and bizarre workplace injuries. For example: During one project, I developed carpal tunnel syndrome AND a strange sinus issue at the exact same time (the latter of which never went away). I've nearly blinded myself with an optical mouse, twice. I sneeze when I chew gum. By the time this newsletter goes out, I'm sure I'll have another one to add to the list!
