Cikidang Fish Landing Base
The diversity of resources in Pangandaran Regency offers significant poten al for produc ve economic u lisa on. One of the key sectors influencing the income of Pangandaran Regency is the fisheries sector. However, the income from fishermen’s catches does not consistently significantly impact their earnings. This is due to several factors, including the uncertainty of fishing seasons and fish scarcity periods, extreme weather condi ons, unpredictable wind direc ons, and inadequate facili es and infrastructure. Addi onally, there is a lack of proper sales venues to support fishermen’s secondary livelihoods, such as ebi shrimp processing, handicra produc on, palm sugar produc on, salted fish produc on, and more. The fishing village in Babakan Village emerged as a result of the 2006 Pangandaran tsunami, which destroyed several fishermen’s se lements. Consequently, the current fishermen’s se lements are located near the Cikidang Fish Landing Base (PPI) in Babakan Village, Pangandaran. PPI Cikidang serves as a mooring facility for fishermen’s boats. However, revitalisa on is needed to enhance the produc ve economic ac vi es of fishermen and the fishing village area. This revitalisa on aims to reinvigorate the fishing area and a ract both local and interna onal tourists to the new tourist des na on in the PPI Cikidang area. The revitalisa on approach should incorporate local wisdom to create a dis nc ve impression and highlight the cultural characteris cs of the fishermen's area, drawing from tradi onal Sundanese cultural forms to strengthen the site's image. The expected outcome of this discussion is to increase the primary income of fishermen, which fluctuates due to certain factors, by providing and improving the quality of facili es and infrastructure. Addi onally, it aims to boost fishermen’s income through secondary earnings by establishing a produc on centre in Babakan Village.
