Council Makes History with Budget Vote After an emotional budget review process, the Jacksonville City Council approved a $2 billion budget in the early morning of Sept. 24. The marathon meeting lasted nearly 14 hours, included about four hours of public comment and multiple recesses, but, with few people left in the audience, the City Council approve a budget with an 1/8 mil property tax cut that will provide $13.4 million in relief to taxpayers. The new roundabout at Post Street and Old Roosevelt Boulevard in Murray Hill is on track for an Oct. 1 opening date, according to Jacob Pickering, community outreach specialist for the Florida Department of Transportation. The roundabout was installed to make the five-way intersection safer for pedestrians, motorists and railroad.
