Repton is a wonderful and inspiring place: one of the UK’s foremost coeducational boarding and day schools, located in the heart of the English countryside, yet within easy reach of major cities; strengthened by a history that goes back over a thousand years, yet with a keen eye on the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. A major programme of investment and expansion has been completed across both Repton and Repton Prep in recent years, and the Repton family of schools now comprises schools in Dubai (2), Abu Dhabi (2), China and Egypt, with four UK prep schools and plans to open more international sister schools over the next few years. We are a school with ambition and purpose. We are eager to share our values and aims with partners across the globe.

AN INTRODUCTION TO REPTON SCHOOL
Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia, and the School, founded in 1557 from a bequest from Sir John Port of Etwall, was established on the site of a 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and latterly a 12th century Augustinian priory.
The School today incorporates many of the original buildings from the estate, namely, the Guest Chamber and Prior’s Lodging (which as the Old Priory currently houses the School Library and Common Room), Overton’s Tower, Tithe Barn, and the Arch The latter is all that now remains of the Priory’s original gatehouse and helped inspire the School’s motto: porta vacat culpa

As a pre-eminent co-educational boarding and day school, Repton provides an exceptional broad-based education, blending heritage with the pursuit of excellence in a 21st century context, offering world class facilities as well as high quality teaching and pastoral care.
The School has a thousand pupils across the Prep and Senior School, making it large enough to achieve excellence in and out of the classroom, yet small enough for individuals to grow and flourish At Repton Senior, each pupil, whether day or boarding, is a member of a House, of which there are ten (six for boys and four for girls)
Academic standards are high and creative activities, including music, art, drama and design, flourish The School has a national profile in sport, in particular in football, hockey and swimming. Our pupils thrive both in and out of the classroom and they develop the skills, qualities and values that will lead to a successful life.
Whilst Repton is undoubtedly modern in terms of practice and outlook, the traditional values of encouraging pupils to aim high whilst showing respect for all are still of utmost importance The School continues its strong educational vision, recognising the importance of being able to offer a Repton education to potential pupils from all backgrounds by providing scholarships and bursaries in a wide range of subjects
The School’s considerable strengths were recognised in the 2020 ISI Inspection which found Repton to be ‘Excellent’ in each of the areas examined The inspectors judged that Repton pupils ‘achieve highly and make excellent progress across the wide range of academic and extra-curricular opportunities available to them’

Repton Prep provides pupils with a strong set of values, a broad and sophisticated skills set, as well as important qualities such as adaptability, creativity and resilience
Established in 1940, Repton Prep caters for children from three to 13 years old, at which point pupils transfer to Repton Senior Situated three miles from Repton, in the 55-acre grounds of the beautiful Foremarke Hall – a Georgian Palladian manor – the School develops nurturing relationships with pupils that motivate and inspire them to success in ways they perhaps never thought possible.
With 400 pupils, Repton Prep, a boarding and day school, is both broad and balanced in its approach to education, enabling pupils to enjoy their childhood, whilst benefitting from the wonderful range of opportunities both in and out of the classroom.

Through the centuries many Reptonians have gone on to achieve notable success in business, the arts, sport and philanthropy
Perhaps our most famous alumnus is Roald Dahl, author of much-loved children’s books such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and The BFG.

Sport is for every Reptonian. Over 80% of Reptonians represent the School in at least one sport.
Repton has a long history of success on the sports field and we are very proud of the achievements of our pupils and former pupils (Old Reptonians, or ORs) The 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympics all featured Old Reptonians, with medals being won on the hockey pitch at both Rio and Tokyo games.
Repton has firmly established itself as the most successful hockey school in the country, having won 53 national titles since 2005 across every age group for both girls and boys in both indoor and outdoor hockey
SPORT AT REPTON
At Repton, sport is inspirational to all and integral to daily life; over 80% of Reptonians represent the School in at least one sport and every Reptonian participates in sport at least three times per week.
Repton has six focus sports; Hockey, Football, Tennis, Swimming, Netball and Cricket. Cricket is synonymous with Repton, and the School has a rich history in the sport Current pupils are coached by former England wicketkeeper and Nottinghamshire CCC captain Chris Read Repton also holds a very strong national reputation for football with a number of players in recent years leaving us to start a professional career.
The swimming provision is exceptional: Ash Morris leads a world-class coaching programme in our specialist facilities. Swimmers at Repton have every opportunity to maximise their potential and achieve at the highest levels
The School’s new sports centre caters to everyone from elite-performance athletes to those seeking overall health and wellbeing It was opened in 2019 by Adam Peaty OBE, two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 100m breaststroke Peaty trained at Repton prior to his first Olympics and holds Repton close to his heart.

IAN McINTYRE
Appointed as Managing Director in 2026, Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in establishing and developing highperforming British schools around the world over the past 15 years
Following an early career spent teaching in UK independent schools including two Headships, Ian went on to lead the international development of Brighton College, opening their schools in the Middle East and South East Asia
From 2019 he was the International Development Director at Rugby, responsible for developing Rugby's schools in Japan, Nigeria and Dubai
Sarah is the Chief Operating Officer of the Repton Group
Prior to joining Repton in April 2024, Sarah was Bursar at all-through boarding and day schools Dover College and then Ashford School in Kent for 6 years
Sarah’s first career was in the British Army, where she attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served across the world, deploying on operations in Iraq in 2006
As a keen sportswoman, Sarah has spent time working with the British Olympic Association and UK Sport investment team and attended the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea as a Team Manager Sarah is also a Director of the British Biathlon Union
