Develop an intervention programme with the context of urban environment with issue based approach. The issue(es) must be explained with “story(ies) that can be defined and created by reading and observing the existing pattern. The understanding of dynamic framework of space and time within the context becomes very important to decide new ideas about how architecture may contribute to the reality of urban environment without any limitation of building types.

Hunter x Prey x Space Walking in Tebet after the sun goes down transform the area into hunting zone. A lot of hunters use a variety of ways to catch the prey among their eyes. In other way, some of the prey thinks that they are the hunter, searching what they need, looking down what they want. The truth is they would fall into the hunter’s hand, satisfying.

Hunters create a pattern of zone that can allow their prey to come into them by optimizing the building’s setback as the permeability zone to make their architecture penetrable. Another implication yet benefit for hunters is that permeability zone could be used as parking space to become decoys that attract prey. The hunters make the facade can be seen through the outside so anyone know the condition and what’s happening inside, it also can distract prey from their intention to come inside because prey that already inside can be decoys too.

The Story of Hunters and Prey

Discovering, for a fawn, is a really new thing. It is his first chance to sway his legs, smelling the freedom, making his first move, with or without a purpose, just realizing his potential.

The father let him explore like he was younger, cause he knew what it feels like to dance with nature.

Until one momment, the father lost his sight of his son. Then he began to search passing through the jungle eventhough he knew that jungle is a hunting zone and there are a lot of traps.

Going further, deeper.

‘There he is!’ The father saw his son from the distance, running, like avoiding something as stomping down the ground, the father were trying to reach him.

But it was too late. The son had already dying, fell into The Hunter’s hand. So sad that the son’s first dance was his last dance.

Big Issue: Urban Trading Site Issue: Penetrable Architecture “Analysis of one of the architectural variables in isolation from the others is a respectable scientific and humanistic activity, so long as all are resynthesized in design (Venturi, 1977)

Through the Integrity Walking in Tebet after the sun goes down transform the area into hunting zone. A lot of hunters use a variety of ways, especially trap method, to catch prey among their eyes. However, the hunting zone is still a habitate for both hunters and prey. If the hunters caught prey then they got stocks to stay alive. Otherwise, if the prey passed through the hunting zone but still survive, the hunters had nothing on his hands.

“Analysis of one of the architectural variables in isolation from the others is a respectable scientific and humanistic activity, so long as all are resynthesized in design (Venturi, 1977)

Responding the site context and potential, this notion act as an instrument for the neighborhood to enhance their physical and emotional realm. As Adams (2014) stated that quality of life and wellbeing must be stimulated by urban design. This instrument integrating both the context and program inside by being permeable from the environment as a need for necessary activities and provides tangible elements that trigger social activites (Gehl, 1996). The idea highly emphasizes human satisfaction without negating the critical needs of urban civilization.

Teamed up with Achmad Soeiro Hutomo In doing their routines, people often get influenced by places they pass across everyday. People need something as a generator for new activities that create authentic experience. In this case, the instrument proposed to enhance people’s life quality through social interaction & physical activity and make it the program at their transit space.

Issue

Most of the users are the workers who work or study at Jakarta and need to transit at the station to continue their trip to the office. But, this place aims for the real athlete and after-office athletes who set the ‘sport’ as the main activity there.

Form Development

Scenario

Site Analysis Based on the context, the site located on strategic position. The distance that is not far from the main road becomes a good choice for the neighborhood. Depok Baru Station and traditional market are the best reason for making it permeable. The site has visual potency of open space for almost 135° varying from northwest to the south. This becomes a basis of consideration for bulk and programs inside. The context divided by railway and fly over into four quadrant, separating the area which dominated by public housing. The site can be a connector for the residents while contribute to enhance the lack of diversities. Although the void space has a wide area, it more likely consists of railway and main road. Depending on the solid void space condition, the site can be a bridge from high density solid space to broad public open space.

The appreciation of balance and order embraces a coherence quality of space. This is not an emphasize for symmetry. Rather than that, it express a freedom of thoughts without getting out of track.

Monochromatic color of black and white represents the harmony between tangible and intangible realms. The ambience of sailing around in-between spaces bridge the connection within image and reality. . Different level inside act as a boundaries to distinguish the use of space. The lowest level in front of the door is the genkan to prevent bad things ruin the space. The second level is the area for activities. The highest level is the place to rest and free the mind. . The coherency of space try to expose a freedom and peace in order to increase the quality of life.

This project is about creating an ecology architecture that respond and live within the context by focus on prioritizing one aspect or element. The goals of this project is to enhance the value of the environment. Analysis and understanding every living things on the environment are crucial to decide a program that not only suitable to the context but also sustainable to merge with human activities.

Programs plotted for the project includes everything about horses as major aspects and still related to human being. Grass become pasture for horse consumption, then the feces produced from horses processed into manure for grass. This cycle maintained so the cost of horse food can be reduced. Also it contributes to reducing the transportation needed and other effects impacted by the process of domesticated animals, especially livestock. On the other side, there are still programs like restaurant, riding sport, and resort to attract customers and visitors.

Create an architecture by understanding basic architectural system in large scale buildings and the interaction among them. Developing an ideas of basic service of humankind according to Le Corbusier; to live, to work and to cultivate body and spirit become the basis for the design. Projecting how do architectural and environmental system relate to each other may demonstrate the sustainability strategies in order to provide suitable environment for the occupants.

Rietveld Schröder House Architectural Design Studio 2

First project of AD2 is to research, learn, and study about precedent of dwelling architecture. Every group in the studio were given a different ‘houses’. We had to find and extract program and spatial quality from the precedent. Then the keywords achieved are used as the base to develop spatial model of our own. At the end of project, each member of every group presents their analysis and study with various keywords and models but still maintain the part-whole of the precedent.

Ekskursi Seram 2018

Departement of Architecture - Universitas Indonesia Ekskursi Arsitektur UI is a journey of research and documenting program about vernacular architecture of ethnics or tribes in Indonesia. This is an annual program held by Department of Architecture students with different destination every year. The result of our studies presented through book, film, and exhibition. In 2018, Ekskursi Arsitektur UI went to Huaulu & Nuaulu Tribes in Seram Island, Maluku.

Journey

I am a part of the advance team that responsible for making sure the ongoing operational and the availability of research contents by meeting with stakeholders and doing an early observation of the field. We also went to Huaulu tribes located in the area of Mount Binaiya. We stayed one night there and then continue our research in Nuaulu tribes. For the expedition team, there are five divisions. One of them is mapping division, and I am a part of it. Our role is to do the mapping and measurements of any discoveries, including tangible and intangible things within the scale of macro to micro space.

Output and Exhibition Book In the Ekskursi Seram organizational committee, I work with Dwiki Ristanto as the vice head and head of research and output content division. We help to arrange and think about the overall structure and ideas of the book, film, and exhibition. We also create, improve, and correct pictures, illustrations, and narrations for the outputs. Together with every person in charge of the output division, we responsible for the overall theme and ideas of the content. Our role is to manage everything we got from our expedition and deliver it into book, film, and exhibition.
