Wei Residence

Minimalistic, hacienda-style home for soon-to-be empty nesters.

A dream home for a recently retired couple living in Victoria, British Columbia. A U-shaped layout was requested by the client to ensure the private and social areas were separated by a wild garden, which also served as the main entrance and an outdoor cinema space. Furthermore, the design includes arched windows, nooks and framed walls throughout the home to spotlight painting and sculptures — in tune with the client’s love for art and antiques.

Remembering Howard Backen

Bringing one of Backen’s most iconic designs from reality to rendering.

Howard Backen, an inspirational architect that redefined the aesthetic landscape of Napa Valley, designed the Kutcher-Kunis residence in 2021. This project is my attempt to bring the project’s stunning images — published in Architectural Digest — from reality to rendering. I made this in remembrance of Howard Backen’s incredible work throughout his lifetime, and by no means am I taking credit for the residence’s architectural and interior design.

Illinois Kitchen

A

touch of luxe for a heritage home.

To kickstart the remodeling process, the design started with the heart of the home to define an overall look and feel. The kitchen works as it own individual space while also blending seamlessly with the family room and dining room. Marble calacatta in shades of violet and cream was used as a centrepiece, coupled with caramel wooden hues in the chevron floors and furniture to create a calm, serene and peaceful family space.

Armer Farmhouse

A modern take to the classic farmhouse style.

Located in the beautiful countryside of Royal Oaks, California, the house went through a full exterior and interior re-design. A neutral palette was used to allow for the surrounding landscape — an oak forest and colourful flowers and bushes — to shine.

4 x 6 House

Luxury, tiny home divided into different floor levels.

A rarity in the Torontonian urban landscape, with a permissable buildable area of 4 x 6 meters. Each floor accommodates a different use, starting from the ground floor with a mixed dining and kitchen space, a formal / informal living room in the second floor and a master suite at the top.

Building Blocks

Design of a shipping container home.

The one non-negotiable for the design: the house needed to be built with shipping containers. The design breaks from the traditional construction system in Honduras — concrete block — and served as an opportunity to explore a more cost-effective, simpler, yet comfortable living alternative.

French Farmhouse

Design of a calming, retreat-like home for a retired diplomat.

The spaces of the house are dispersed around the trees of the site and interconnected through courtyards, as a means to preserve the oldest trees of the site and to provide privacy for the master suite. For the house’s exteriors and interiors, the client requested simplicity, following the aesthetics of a transitional French Farmhouse.
