Inspired by historical costume, art, and culture, the duo developed one of fashion's most distinctive design identities. Throughout her career spanning more than 50 years, Vivienne Westwood championed environmental awareness and human rights through both her work and activism. Today, the brand is recognised globally as one of the world's most influential fashion houses, while Westwood herself remains celebrated as one of the most visionary fashion designers and activists of her generation. The exhibition invites visitors on an immersive journey through the rich history of Vivienne Westwood's jewellery design, highlighting the House's sophisticated dialogue between historical references and contemporary culture. Spread across eight themed galleries, each room explores a defining era of the brand from the birth of punk and fantastical worlds of imagination to the DIY ethos of ecological thinking, 18th-century fashion and adornment, and culminating in "Orb," a gallery dedicated to the House's iconic emblem.
As visitors move through the exhibition, jewellery and fashion are brought together in a carefully curated narrative enhanced by music, runway imagery, collages, photography, and video installations. Together, these elements offer an intimate glimpse into the creative universe of Vivienne Westwood. "It is incredibly rewarding to see this exhibition travelling to different parts of the world, and especially exciting to bring it to Bangkok, where audiences can experience the history and creativity of our House firsthand," said Andreas Kronthaler, Creative Director of Vivienne Westwood. "Jewellery has always played a vital role in our design philosophy. Nothing frames the face, enhances the body, or expresses individuality quite like jewellery. It is powerful, deeply meaningful, and often marks life's most memorable moments. Even during the punk era, Vivienne transformed everyday objects including studs, safety pins, pin-up images, cans, discarded materials, bones, and found objects into jewellery and decoration. Our Orb emblem is itself a symbol of the past and the present, and with the addition of Saturn's ring, it also represents the future. It embodies British identity while perfectly expressing the spirit of Vivienne Westwood." The experience extends beyond the exhibition itself with the Vivienne Westwood Exhibition Shop, offering a limited-edition collection of exclusive merchandise, including commemorative jewellery and exhibition T-shirts available only during the Bangkok presentation. "Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery" will be on display at the Event Hall, 2nd Floor, Central Chidlom, from 11 September to 23 October 2026.
