The three Reception classes become two classes in Year 1. The children are therefore in different groupings, but they interact regularly with each other and work as a whole year group for some activities. There is a seamless and gradual transition from the Reception daily routines to more adult-led learning in Year 1. We continue to develop the children’s critical and creative thinking skills through practical and playbased activities. We build on what the children already know and extend and challenge their learning through our topic-based approach.
DROP OFF & COLLECTION The team will be there to guide you on the first morning. Timings for drop off and collection remain the same as they were in Reception: Drop Off 7.30–8.00 am 8.00–8.25am 8.25 am
Breakfast Club (payable) – drop to dining hall (children will then be taken to Early Class at 8.00am). Early Class (free, but children must arrive before 8.20am) – drop to the member of staff on the door at Beech House. If arriving after 8.20am, please wait with your child in the playground for the morning bell. Alternatively, children may be dropped off at the Pen in the morning and will be greeted by a member of staff. Children line up with their teacher at the entrance to Beech House. If it is raining, children can go straight to their classrooms when they arrive at school from 8.00am.
Collection – At 3.30pm children are dismissed from the entrance of Beech House or go directly to clubs. Children with siblings in Upper School can stay until 4.00pm in sibling late care (located in Kindergarten). Extended day (separately bookable) is available until 6.00 pm daily and is located in the Kindergarten classrooms. Please do not enter the school buildings unaccompanied at any time. Instead, report to the Receptionist at the school’s main entrance who will guide you.
