Congratulations to Mr. Jay Whitby, who qualified for the 2026 U.S. MidAmateur Championship with an outstanding 5-under-par 66 at the qualifier at Carlisle Country Club in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Jay earned medalist honors with the low round of the qualifier, securing his place among the 264-player field selected from a record 6,124 entries. The U.S. Mid-Amateur, conducted by the USGA, was held September 26– October 1 at Sand Valley Resort in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Representing Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, this marked Jay’s third U.S. Mid-Amateur appearance. His impressive competitive résumé also includes multiple Delaware Amateur and Delaware Open titles, as well as appearances in U.S.

Greens FALL COURSE UPDATE The soil testing results came back as expected, allowing us to proceed with our planned aeration schedule. The greens were deep-tined, followed by DryJect and a heavy topdressing. Fortunately, well-timed rainfall helped the greens recover quickly, allowing us to resume mowing within four days. As of September 19, the greens are approximately 90–95% healed, just nine days after aeration. The fairways were aerated with solid tines and groomed several times afterward. Thanks to the favorable weather, they recovered quickly and within a few days, it was difficult to tell any work had been done. The tees were also aerated and topdressed, with the rainfall helping the sand work into the turf and the aeration holes close quickly. The tees have recovered very well. We also used the tee cores and seed to improve several struggling

We have also seen some bentgrass dead spot on the greens, primarily in areas with older varieties. These areas will be seeded this fall with stronger varieties to help reduce the issue next summer. We recently removed the severely leaning tree behind No. 17 tee and another near No. 9 tees. Courtney is also continuing to work on fall planting plans and preparations for next year. As temperatures cool in October, we will begin converting the remaining winterkill areas to bentgrass. The cooler weather will provide ideal conditions for establishing the sod ahead of next season. Despite the recent weather challenges, the course is progressing nicely into fall. We look forward to drier weather and excellent playing conditions through the remainder of the year.
