Thinking back to last month’s newsletter article, I started it by talking about how we were just getting over a bad winter storm. One month later, we experienced a significant blizzard that impacted the Club, our Members and the Talon Tribe; everything from losing power, heat and internet to many downed trees and limbs Thanks to C and his team for ensuring everyone’s safety while working to get the Club back open. I hope by now everyone has been able to recover from any impact they may have experienced
Even with all of that as March arrives, I am starting to see a transition here at RBCC from the winter months to the anticipation of the arrival of spring. Although due to saturated ground conditions and fluctuating temperatures the golf course was closed for most of February and now into March, the Clubhouse buzzed with some fabulous events There was a very special Valentines’ Day dinner; a Food & Wine Festival featuring wines and foods from around the globe; and a Presidential Table with a six-course dining experience that brought together historic presidential dinners and wines highlighting the historical significance behind the menu.
The Talon Tribe is planning a few more exciting events over the next few weeks. Keep your eye out for an all you can eat Snow Crabs on March 13 and a Seafood Extravaganza on March 21
Yesterday you should have received a communication from the Board regarding the operating budget; we want to ensure Members feel the Board is being transparent in explaining the budget process As detailed in that communication, the Board approved the 2027 Fiscal Year Budget which includes the smallest increase in operating dues we have had in the past four years at 6%. I would like to thank our Finance Committee, chaired by our Treasurer John McCooey, for working closely with the leadership team over the past couple of months developing a comprehensive and well-thought-out budget.
The second Future of the Golf Course update was emailed on February 21 The update includes the criteria for the selection of prospective contractors and information on the bid process There is also an update on the work our Superintendent, Alan Fitzgerald, and his team are doing this winter to help mitigate current course issues; this work is essential for the future of our course plan.
As mentioned in my February article, work has begun with GGA Partners on the next iteration of the Club’s Strategic Plan and Facilities Master Plan GGA will be at the Club the week of April 6th to get Member input through focus groups. They will be handling the randomization of the

focus groups and contacting Members directly Look for more information on these focus groups in the coming weeks.
We are now in the last month of our current fiscal year. The Board, along with the leadership team, are excited as we look ahead to the start of our new fiscal year and to welcome back many of our Members as they begin to return to Rehoboth

As winter slowly loosens its grip on the shoreline, we are reminded once again of the resilience and warmth that define our RBCC community.
The past several weeks have tested us in ways few seasons do. Two significant winter storms swept through our area, with the most recent snowfall leaving us with 19 inches of snow, more than 48 hours without power, and unavoidable impacts to our Club operations, especially the restaurant. The extended outage resulted in the loss of food and select beverages, as well as damage to electrical equipment that temporarily hindered our ability to restore services at full capacity.
Throughout it all, your patience, encouragement, and unwavering support meant more than we can adequately express- and fun evenings were created by the genius of our culinary staff and your curiosity.
gathering, sharing meals, and lifting spirits —was a powerful reminder of what makes RBCC so special. Your enthusiasm brought a renewed sense of spring hope, even as winter weather persisted outside.
February proved that even in the heart of winter, this Club thrives. A full calendar of specialty dinners and events kept our dining rooms lively, and our small but mighty Talon Tribe demonstrated extraordinary dedication and energy. Thank you to every Member who joined us and supported the Club during a month that is traditionally quieter.
March promises to carry that momentum forward. We are delighted to bring back some of your favorites, including All You Can Eat Snow Crab Legs Night, our traditional Seafood Extravaganza, and several highly sought-after wine events. These gatherings are not only culinary highlights, but they are also opportunities to reconnect, celebrate, and continue building memories together.
Behind the scenes, we have been preparing diligently for the busy season ahead. After an intense period of recruiting and “negotiations”, we successfully secured our seasonal team, welcoming talented international professionals from Florida and El Salvador. We look forward to hosting them and entering the new season fully staffed and ready to serve our growing crowds.
running (pun intended) and looks forward to meeting many more Members of our racquet's community in the weeks ahead.
This winter was not idle for any department. Our team invested heavily in education and professional development, attending industry-leading conferences and training programs, including the PGA Show for our golf professionals, the GCSA Conference for our course superintendents, and the CMAA World Conference. In addition, we hosted on-site HR classes and conducted weekly service training sessions across departments. A full report from the CMAA World Conference will appear in next month’s Eagle Point; however, key themes included the return of staffing challenges across the industry, the competitive race among clubs to enhance amenities and attract new members, and the expanding role of AI and autonomous robotics in hospitality operations. We remain committed to thoughtful innovation while preserving the traditions and personal service that define RBCC.
Our March Coffee with C will feature a sitdown conversation with the Talon Tribe. In April, we will provide updates on several important initiatives, including:
Our Strategic Plan update with GGA Proposals for the outdoor bar
Expansion of the pool deck
While the golf course and pickleball courts remain closed due to lingering snow and ice, we are pleased to share that the Fitness Center, wellness programming, and the Clubhouse are fully operational. When we reopened our doors after the storm, seeing Members arrive in such strong numbers—
We are also thrilled to welcome Emma Cioffi, our new Director of Racquets, in March. Many of you had the pleasure of meeting her in Florida—where she connected with several of our Members, including one of our newest Members, Terri Gaskill. Emma is eager to hit the courts
Installation of speed bumps and a new speed limit within our privately owned parking lot (distinct from the 25 mph ESD and WSD limits on the state roads surrounding us)
The installation of a back-up generator to help prevent future business interruptions like those we recently experienced March also marks a significant milestone.
While it often surprises us with its activity as
we close out another fiscal year, this year it carries even greater meaning. With the turn of the calendar, we begin our 101st year as a Club.
Our second century begins now.
Few clubs have the privilege of reaching such a milestone, and even fewer can say they have done so with a membership that remains so engaged, supportive, and united. We are profoundly grateful to be part of a community that stands together through storms, celebrates together in sunshine, and continues to write unforgettable chapters in the story of club life at the beach.
Thank you for your continued trust, loyalty, and belief in RBCC. We look forward to a vibrant spring and a remarkable new century—together.
"March bustles in on windy feet And sweeps my doorstep and my street. She washes and cleans with pounding rains, Scrubbing the earth of winter stains She shakes the grime from carpet green Till naught but fresh new blades are seen. Then, house in order, all neat as a pin, She ushers gentle springtime in."
- Susan Reiner,Spring Cleaning

As we turn the page to March, it’s hard not to feel the excitement building, golf season is right around the corner. While winter has slowed play, the team has been working hard preparing for what promises to be another outstanding year on the course and in the Golf Shop.
As we approach the start of the new fiscal year at the club, there are a few important items to consider:
GHIN Handicap – If you plan to participate in any club events, you must hold an active handicap through RBCC via the United States Golf Association GHIN system
Men’s & Ladies Associations – Now is the perfect time to plan your participation for the upcoming season.
Pushcart Memberships – Convenient and popular, these memberships will also renew with the new fiscal year
Bag Storage – If you are planning to keep your bag at the club. As a reminder, if you participated in any of these services or groups in 2025, you will automatically renew for the upcoming year unless you notify us otherwise.
Makaela has officially completed the spring merchandise buy and is already hard at work preparing our fall selections. We are excited about the brands, styles, and fresh looks coming to the Golf Shop this season New merchandise is set to arrive around April 1.
In the weeks ahead, you will begin seeing more information about our 2026 merchandise goals and how you can be part of supporting and achieving them. In November 2025, RBCC Members
Lucas Skonieczki and Cole Martin cohosted the inaugural Delaware Cup in partnership with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) at Bayside. As part of the AJGA State Cup Series, the event raised funds to support the Liberty National ACE Grant, which provides need-based scholarships to junior golfers.
In addition to contributing to the ACE Grant program, Lucas and Cole designated that half of the event’s proceeds would benefit a local charitable organization. As a result, The First Tee of Delaware received a meaningful donation. Scott Allen recently reached out regarding receipt of the check, which served as a timely reminder of the impact this event made.
With the upcoming AJGA Junior All-Star Tournament at the club, this is a wonderful opportunity to highlight how the AJGA and junior golfers collaborate not only to elevate the game, but also to strengthen and give back to the local community
