PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Spring is such a hopeful time filled with new beginnings The days are getting longer, tulips and daffodils are popping up, and those who have been elsewhere for the winter are returning. And for RBCC, a new fiscal year begins

Nothing is more hopeful than the start of golf and racquets season! There are plenty of updates on both of those departments in this edition of Eagle Point, but I’d like to bring two specific golf items to your attention First, as you may know, RBCC was selected to host the American Junior Golf Association Tournament from April 2326 Junior golfers ages 12-15 from across the country will take part in the tournament. The tournament requires many on-course volunteers I ask that you consider volunteering to help with the overall success of the tournament. For more information you can contact the Golf Shop or the Volunteer Chair, Rudy Blancke (RCBlancke@comcast net) or click here to volunteer.

Additionally, I encourage you to continue reading the monthly Future of the Golf Course Updates; one was sent last Saturday, March 21 and the next one will come out on Saturday, April 18 These updates provide a lot of information about the current conditions of the course and plans for the future The Board, along with the Golf Course Task Force, is dedicated to keeping Members informed about the

golf course project each step of the way The next phase is to invite Members to take part in focus groups in May where we plan to gain as much Member input as possible.

The 2026 Member Handbook will be sent digitally this weekend and be mailed to all Members in the next couple of weeks Please take some time to look through it. In particular, familiarize yourself with the guest policies across all our amenities as they have been updated

It’s no surprise to learn on page 9 that our Executive Chef Carolyn Torres was named to the 40 Under 40 list by Club + Resort Chef Magazine. Chef Carolyn continues to elevate the culinary experience here at RBCC She has introduced new service standards and expanded culinary education through Member cooking classes

Next time you are at the Club be sure to congratulate Chef Carolyn.

Wishing you a wonderful start to your Spring and wishing those who celebrate a Happy Easter and a Happy Passover

LAST CHANCE! SIGN UP NOW.

John Caruso Board President

Carpiu "C" Chereches GM/COO

As April arrives and the promise of spring begins to soften the edges of a truly relentless winter, we find ourselves reflecting with deep gratitude on the resilience and spirit of our RBCC Community.

This past season tested us in ways few others have—weeks of biting cold, powerful winds that reshaped our tree lines, heavy snowfalls, and unexpected power outages that seemed to come one after another. It was, by every measure, one of the most formidable winters our hidden club has experienced in recent memory. And yet, through it all, one constant remained: the unwavering support of our Members and the extraordinary dedication of our Talon Tribe staff.

Time and again, you showed up—for one another and for your Club. And in return, our team rose to every challenge, committed to creating moments of warmth (especially in the seasonal Fireside dining room), connection, and joy despite the conditions outside. What could have been a quiet, dormant season instead became one filled with meaningful, memorable experiences.

From the intimate and engaging cooking classes led by Chef Carolyn—recently and welldeservedly recognized among the Top 40 Chefs Under 40—to Kyle’s thoughtfully curated wine dinners, each gathering offered a welcome escape and an opportunity to

GENERAL MANAGER’S MESSAGE

connect. We were also thrilled to officially welcome Emma Cioffi, who has already brought wonderful energy to our racquets program. In just a few short weeks, she has connected with many of our enthusiastic tennis and pickleball Members, and we look forward to seeing her programs flourish.

You may have also noticed a new face around the Club—please join us in welcoming Vernice, our Events Coordinator Assistant. Working alongside Andra, she is already helping to shape an exciting calendar of events for the seasons ahead.

Within our Talon Tribe family, there is much to celebrate as well. While Cosi is currently enjoying time with his growing family— welcoming his third son—we are delighted to share that Bethany is expecting a new addition this fall. These joyful milestones remind us that RBCC is, at its heart, a community that extends far beyond the Club itself.

Looking ahead, we are excited to once again host the AJGA for an expanded event this year. Volunteer opportunities will be available, and we encourage those interested to get involved. Additionally, for those who enjoy being part of championship-level golf experiences, there will be opportunities beyond our Club as well, with upcoming events at Aronimink Golf Club, Merion Golf Club, and Lehigh Country Club. It is a wonderful way to represent RBCC while supporting the broader golf community.

As we close out March, we do so not only with the hope that winter is firmly behind us, but also with pride in what has been a very successful fiscal year. We now turn the page to a new season, beginning with one of our most cherished traditions—our Easter Brunch.

Masters week, we will also begin an important series of focus groups in partnership with GGA as part of our ongoing strategic planning efforts. Invitations have been sent, and I strongly encourage your participation— whether in person or via Zoom. Your perspective is invaluable, and hearing from a wide range of voices will help shape the future of our Club. These sessions are distinct from the upcoming discussions centered on the Future of the Golf Course, so please stay tuned for more information on those.

As you continue through this month’s newsletter, I leave you with a simple but heartfelt sentiment: we are truly grateful to call this Club our home. In a time when the world around us can feel uncertain and everchanging, the strength, camaraderie, and warmth of this Community remain a constant source of deep connections and comfort.

We want to thank you for being such an essential part of it.

C's
Poem of the Month

"The very first Easter taught us this: that life never ends and love never dies."

I invite you to join me the Saturday prior (April 4) for “Coffee with “C” at 9:00am, an informal opportunity to connect and share thoughts as we look ahead. The following week, during t series of focus groups in partnership

Dear Member,

RBCC VETERAN’S GROUP

As a valued Member of Rehoboth Beach Country Club and a Veteran of the Armed Forces—or a family member or friend who supports those who have served—we invite you to join the recently formed RBCC Veterans Group.

Our purpose is to build a community within the Club that honors military service through fellowship, education, and shared purpose. Many Veterans find that the transition from military to civilian life—and the journey that follows—is strengthened through connection with others who understand the unique bond of service.

Our Core Objectives

Cultivate fellowship and promote social interaction among military-affiliated members and their families through gatherings, events, and activities.

Provide opportunities for members to engage in community service projects supporting active-duty personnel, Veterans, and military families.

Promote recognition of military service within RBCC through special events, programs, and observances.

Serve as a resource for RBCC leadership on matters related to the military and Veteran community and provide support and assistance to Veterans who may need it.

Recognize important military holidays and traditions such as Veterans Day, Women’s Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, Gold Star Veterans, Canine Veterans, the service branch birthdays and other appropriate holidays.

Honor the enduring values associated with military service: Duty, Honor, Country, Integrity, Respect, and One Nation Under God. Share and teach the heritage and traditions of military service with current and future generations of RBCC Members.

Encourage understanding between Veterans and the broader civilian community.

Get Involved

We welcome Veterans from all eras and all branches of service, as well as family members and supporters who wish to engage with and support our Veteran community. Whether you served on active duty or the reserves, for many years or a single tour, in combat or stateside, your service and perspective are valued. If you joined us at our inaugural social last November—or are just learning about the Group—we would be honored to have you participate.

Next Steps

Join us for our next social gathering: May 19, 2026 – 5:00 PM, Rehoboth Beach Country Club

If you cannot attend but would like to receive future communications, please email Gary Talley (talley.gary@gmail.com) (a 55-year RBCC Legacy Member), Ron Chaney (chaneyrh@gmail.com), or contact Assistant GM Spaska Ivanov (Spaska@rehobothbeachcc.com.

We are also continuing to identify RBCC Members who are veterans. If you know someone who may be interested, please feel free to share their name with us so we can extend an invitation. Thank you for your service to our nation. We look forward to seeing you at the Club.

Respectfully,

RBC

FASTED CARDIO: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

What is fasted cardio?

Exercise performed without recent food intake, usually first thing in the morning before breakfast

Can also include any workout after a 3-4 hour fasting window

Does fasted cardio burn more fat?

Food provides energy immediately. Any leftover energy is stored as glycogen or body fat

During exercise in a fed state: body primarily uses glucose from food or stored energy depending on intensity and duration.

During fasted exercise: body relies more on stored energy, increasing fat oxidation

Higher intensity workouts still rely more on carbohydrate/glycogen, even when fasted.

Energy balance is key

Overall fat loss depends on calorie deficit over time aka energy in vs energy out.

Burning more fat during one workout doesn’t guarantee greater total fat loss

Resistance training can increase daily energy expenditure long-term, sometimes more than fasted cardio.

Pros of fasted cardio

Can increase fat utilization during lower intensity exercise

Convenient for morning workouts.

Can feel lighter without food in your stomach.

Limitations of fasted cardio

Not superior for long-term fat loss

Higher intensity performance may be limited.

Not a sustainable replacement for consistent calorie control and resistance training

The bottom line

Fasted cardio does burn more fat during exercise.

It’s not a magic solution for fat loss. Calorie deficit over time is what matters most

Cardio (fasted or fed) is still valuable for heart health, recovery, and overall fitness.
