Claire advises brides-to-be to start looking for their dress when they are ready to buy, ideally 9-12 months before your wedding. Dress deliveries can take up to
six months depending on the designer with alterations taking around two months. Claire also wants to put brides’ minds at ease when it comes to attending an appointment: “I promise there’s nothing scary going to happen during your appointment, we’ll catch up over a drink and the full process will be explained to you before we start. You don’t need to wear special underwear and the only time to retry your favourites and it’s not a pressured sale environment so you can relax and enjoy it.”

PA Jewellery look at the unique qualities – and colours – of
ourmaline offers a beautiful rainbow of colours, with no other gemstone having quite the same range of hues, or even stones that have more than colour!
TThe gem was recognised as a distinct mineral species in the 1800s, often being confused with other gems previously. The name tourmaline originated in Sri Lanka, deriving from the Sinhalese meaning ‘mixed gems’ and referring to the multicoloured assortment of crystals found in the gem gravels of that country.
as pink or green tourmaline, some varieties also have their own names, such as rubellite for red or indicolite for blue.
A rare variety with a vivid blue to
discovered in the state of that name in Brazil although the name is often now applied to similar gems from Mozambique and Nigeria. The presence of traces of copper gives a stunning ‘pop’ to their colour.
It is not uncommon for a single tourmaline crystal to display more than one colour due to alterations in the chemical environment during growth. The crystals form as long prisms with a rounded triangular cross-section and those displaying more than
one hue may vary along the length (so one end of the crystal is one colour and the other end a different colour) or have concentric zones of different colours when viewed in cross-section. Because of the range seen in tourmaline it is possible to see a variety of combinations, but the most common is green and pink. A variety called watermelon tourmaline is often cut into slices to display a bright pink centre framed by an outer zone of green.
Tourmaline also exhibits strong pleochroism, a property that is connected to the way light interacts with a gemstone and means that it can appear different colours when viewed from different directions, in tourmaline’s case often darker and lighter shades of the same colour; darker when viewed along the crystal and lighter when viewed from the side.
It is quite common to encounter carved tourmalines in both jewellery and decorative objects, since it can form in large sizes and such a range of colours. The gem is rather prone to inclusions, and using it in this way, or for beads, cabochons, and rose cut gems, really shows off the beautiful colour in material that would not be especially attractive as a faceted gem. The inclusions can then add texture to the gem’s appearance and give each stone a unique look.
If you would like to learn more about tourmaline or view our tourmaline jewellery please visit our showroom or you can also view some of our tourmaline jewellery on our website.

Moving away from crisp, overly-curated coastal looks, this particular take on the nautical aesthetic hooks us in with its eclectic, laid-back seaside charm - favouring more rugged and playful components. bathroom should be a place of sanctuary and although it’s one of the most used rooms in the house, it’s often one of last places to get renovated by homeowners.
I say this from experience. After moving into our family home almost 15 years ago, we’ve pretty much tackled everything –extensions, driveways, kitchen, garden – before turning our attention to the bathroom.
There was nothing wrong with the bathroom, it was functional rather than fantastic but with a bath, walk-in shower, sink (and separate toilet) it was very cramped and after all those years in dire need of a makeover.
I’d been introduced to Rachel Nowak through a work colleague and our timing
alongside her husband Shaun, opening a showroom on Middlewood Road in May
After years of supplying bathrooms for other businesses, the couple decided to do it for themselves and have hit the ground running.
“We come with a wealth of knowledge and experience, supported by a group of tried and tested professionals we have worked with for many years,” said Rachel who has worked in the industry since 1997 and has long working history with lots of leading bathrooms brands such as Roper Rhodes, Vitra and Roca.

When it came to our bathroom, Rachel and Shaun both came out to see us before producing a detailed plan with our preferences. We opted to lose the walk-in shower to create more space and instead had a larger bath with shower overhead as well as a white vanity unit with extra storage as well as marble-effect
a new ceiling with sunken spotlights. The separate toilet was updated to mirror the new bathroom.
The installation, completed
by Shaun, was seamless and fell within the expected time frame with little disruption to our everyday lives. We were delighted
We couldn’t be happier and were proud to recommended them to friends and family.
“We provide a personal and professional service,” added Rachel. “No two bathrooms are ever the same - it’s all about what’s right for the customer.
“We’re a small family-run business and I think that shows. People love that we’re local and we’ve been told that we’ve really brightened up this part of Middlewood Road, which is undergoing something of a revival.”
Whether it’s a complete renovation, a change from a bath to a walk-in shower or a simple spruce up of an existing bathroom,
