Blue is the COLOUR
But sapphires also come in many different hues, as explained by PA Jewellery.
apphire is one of the bestknown gemstones, treasured throughout history and remaining a popular choice today. Although it is most commonly thought of as a blue gem, it is actually far more colourful than that, with sapphire being the name given to the mineral corundum when it is any colour other than red (red corundum is known as ruby). And when we say any colour, we really mean it; the gem forms in a wide range of hues including pink, yellow, orange, green, purple, and even with no colour at all.

Corundum is formed from the elements aluminium and oxygen, and in its pure form is colourless (this variety is commonly referred to as white sapphire), although few examples are truly so. Tiny traces of other elements give the mineral its colour. For example, the presence of iron and titanium can produce the blue that sapphires are so famous for, while the addition of vanadium to the mix can cause a purple hue.

Why seasonal changesMATTER
Celebrating 20 years in business, Premier Eye Care advise on how to reduce the impact of seasonal changes on your eyes.
As the days grow shorter and the nights draw in, many of us notice
how our eyes feel. Autumn brings cooler weather, dimmer light, and more time spent indoors – often in front of screens.
Natural light levels fall sharply in autumn, especially towards the end of the working day. This means your eyes have to work harder to adjust, particularly if you’re switching between screens and the outdoors. Poor indoor lighting or glare from lamps can add to the strain.
If you’re suffering from effects such as dry or tired eyes, headaches or eye strain,
focus for long periods, it may be worth considering an eye test. It’s easy to think that this is something you only need if you’re struggling to see clearly. But the reality is that a comprehensive eye examination checks much more than your vision.
At Premier Eyecare in Hillsborough, which originally opening its doors on 1 March 2005, they use advanced technology to spot early signs of conditions such as:
• Glaucoma
• Cataracts
• Macular degeneration
• Diabetic retinopathy
These conditions often have no symptoms in their early stages, which is why regular testing is so important. Eye tests can even pick up signs of wider health concerns such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
Premier Eyecare use the revolutionary iCare ‘no puff of air’ glaucoma check and also offers OCT scans for that in-depth eye examination.
To reduce the impact of seasonal changes on your eyes, try the following tips:
• Make use of natural light during the day where possible
• Position your workspace near a window
• Adjust your lighting in the evening to avoid glare and sharp contrast
• Follow the 20-20-20 rule to give your eyes regular breaks
• Keep your routine eye tests up to date Should you require glasses, Premier

fall/winter, it’s back, and better than ever.
The upcoming season is set to be characterised by an ‘undone elegance’, , ef a messy fffortless, unravelled aesthetic, inspired by many of our fashion favourites in media. “Think Carrie Bradshaw slipping a faux-fur coat over a slip dress and socks in the Sex And The City undertones of razzled English woman”, British V Voogue described.

SUBSTANCE and style
Richard Abbey test drives the most technologically-advanced MG to date – the IM6.
rom the Nevis Blue metallic paint to the 21” black alloy wheels highlighted by bright orange brake callipers, the new IM6 from MG Cars is certainly striking. And then there’s those curves, sweeping up from the perfectlyformed front end, over the panoramic roof to the tailored rear which wouldn’t look out of place on a catwalk let alone a car showroom.
But don’t be fooled by appearances. Yes, this is a seriously good-looking car but there’s some serious substance to it as well.
The MG IM6 SUV was launched alongside the smaller, IM5 Saloon (equally impressive) and both now are available to
There are three models available: the Long Range, Performance and Launch Edition with prices starting from £47,995 on the road.
The MG IM6 is in constant dialogue with the road – scanning, computing, and adjusting – providing an intuitive and worry-free experience, so you can just drive.
I drove the range-topping Launch Edition on the most perfect of sunny days so didn’t have the opportunity to put many of its features to the test. I wasn’t brave enough to try it but Automated Precision Driving allows drivers to effortlessly park, pull out, curbside park and reverse with something called ‘One-Touch iAD’. Then there’s ‘Rainy Night Mode’ which eliminates blind spots in extreme weather using integrated radar, cameras and additional sensor data to replicate your surroundings like pedestrians and other vehicles on a display screen in poor visibility conditions.
But from a driving perspective, the ride – and performance - was superb. The Launch Edition delivers supercar performance courtesy of 751hp ‘Hurricane Motor’ capable of 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds.
certainly test to the car to its fullest.
Range is also impressive. The 100kWh battery pack is capable of up to 313 miles (WLTP) combined range whilst also providing best in class DC charging speeds.
The spacious interior oozes quality, with
ultra-soft leather-style seats (available in grey or white) provided both comfort and a commanding driving position. Heating, ventilation and massaging functions make the MG IM6 feel like the business lounge of car cabins.
The showpiece of the interior is the ultradriver information on display to deliver the feel of a technological command centre. Whilst the tech is certainly impressive, strip that away and what you’ve got is a thoroughly comfortable car that drives effortlessly, is quiet and has plenty of power when you need it.
The MG IM6 comes with a full 7- year or 80,000 mile warranty, and the battery is also covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, giving customers complete peace of mind.
