he start of a new year has brought a refreshed range of designer wedding gowns at The Bridal Box Boutique, including those from bridal powerhouses - Rosa Clará and Demetrios and British legends such as Ellis Bridals. They are also the primary stockist of local designer to the stars - Kay Heeley.

Claire Parish started The Bridal Box and then relocated to Stockbridge in 2023. Located on Manchester Road, it’s been the go-to place for brides-to-be looking for that perfect dress.

As an Elite stockist for most of her brands, The Bridal Box Boutique has a wide range of dresses from these beautiful collections, which are beautiful, elegantly romantic and sophisticated.

Offering dresses that are as unique as the brides themselves, The Bridal Box focuses on styles which are unique to these wonderful designers.

You can view all these dresses, plus a selection of bridal accessories, including veils, sashes, jewellery and headpieces, at the premises on Manchester Road. The Bridal Box Boutique is housed in what was originally an old school and has double-height ceilings that are stained glass windows. It’s a charming dream dress.

Choosing your bridal gown should be one of life’s memorable moments. It’s an experience that should never be rushed but one that should be savoured and enjoyed where you’re allowed to take

Claire likes to offer brides-to-be ample time to look through their varied selection, making dress-buying an experience. She offers two types of appointments, the most popular of which is a one-to-one service that allows guests up to three hours to enjoy the full bridal experience.

“We purposely want to be a boutique experience, when it’s time for your appointment the shop is closed and it’s all about you,” said Claire. “You will get our full attention without any interruptions. We understand wedding dress shopping can be a little stressful or overwhelming so we will make you feel comfortable and make the whole experience relaxed, fun and enjoyable.

“We really take time to understand your personal style and you can try on as many dresses as you like during your time with us. I promise there’s nothing scary going to happen during your appointment, we’ll catch up over a drink and the full process will be explained to you before we start. You don’t need to wear special underwear

you! There’s time to retry your favourites and it’s not a pressured sale environment so you can relax and enjoy it.”

Claire advises brides-to-be to start looking for their dress when they are ready to buy, ideally 9-12 months before your wedding. On average dresses can take up to months for alterations so this helps give

Our evening visit began with an immediate sense of ease, as we were welcomed into a cosy atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of the night.

My boyfriend and I were warmly greeted by the owner of the pub, Matthew Begley, who made sure that we were looked after throughout our visit. Seated further back from the bar, in the dining area, we enjoyed a quieter atmosphere where we could enjoy our own company, with the soft hum of conversation creating a comfortable ambience behind us.

We began the night with a raspberry gin and lemonade for me, complete with a few fresh raspberries, and a Moretti zero

Matthew recommended the Chicken Parma (£15.95) which is a very common dish in Australia, with variations of the dish served in most restaurants there. Honestly, I would highly recommend this dish, the chicken was so succulent and juicy, and the portion sizes were so generous, served with crispy wedges and veg.

Alongside our mains, we also opted for the sweet pot fries (£4.50) and the onion rings with a sweet chilli dip (£3.90). Even

Big enough to cope, small enough to care

or almost 44 years, Deepcar Home Improvements have been providing their customers with top-quality products and customer service from their Manchester Road showroom.

Owner Ian Clancy established the business in September 1978 and today continues to run the business with the help of his family and fantastic team.

Ian is joined by son Tom, daughter Alice, sister-in-law Diane and his two nephews, who both work as part of the fitting team.

Deepcar Home Improvements offer a long list of products and services, whether you’re in the market for new windows, doors, soffits and fascias, one of their bespoke conservatories, or even a garage conversion. Whatever you choose, they’ll make sure it’s perfectly fitted.

Ian left school in 1976 and learned his trade at a local double glazing company before making the leap two years later in going it alone. He was described as ‘first on site, last to leave’, and this work ethic has continued throughout his working life.

Exemplifying Ian’s pride in his humble beginning, the very first door made by the company in 1978 still sits in perfect working order at the back of the showroom.

With 40-plus years’ experience comes a level of knowledge, and the whole team at Deepcar Home Improvements take pride in the fact that not only do they provide the best products to their customers, but the best service too.

“Our aim is the same today as it was back then. In today’s busy world we pride ourselves in looking after you the customer and will offer the same level of service whether you are having a new

conservatory or a lock fixed on your window,” said Ian.

An immense amount of care is taken by the team before and after the job is done, and their customers are treated just like another member of the family.

Deepcar Home Improvements will do their best to help you find the perfect products for your home, and they’ll offer you a ten-year warranty once you’ve found just what you need. Why go to a big chain when you can support a local family business who in turn can support you?

Deepcar Home Improvements have a

wide range of popular, high-quality brands in their fantastic showroom and they welcome you to come and pay them a visit and see for yourself just what they can do for you.

“We’re big enough to cope, but small enough to care,” said Ian.

Gold plated vermeil jewellery is an attractive and much more affordable alternative to solid gold.

ver the past year, it has been hard to escape the news that the price of gold has been reaching new highs almost every week, but while this may be good news for investors, it has pushed the price of solid gold jewellery up substantially, making it less positive for those hoping to buy gold jewellery.

As gold jewellery has become less affordable, a variety of alternatives have begun to take its place, with gold plated,
