“I’m Codeined up to the max and am feeling a bit s***,” he says in his familiar Salford twang.
But that aside, he’s thoroughly enjoyed being back on tour with Kermit and the boys but is gearing up for something even bigger in 2026.

“We were at a Buzzcocks gig in Belle Vue, which must have been the late seventies,” says Shaun. “I had a plastic pint of lager in my hand and I threw it at him to get his attention. We wanted Factory because we admired Tony and the bands on it. He was the dude.”
In total the Happy Mondays released while the focus on this tour will be very on Pills ‘n’ Thrills And Bellyaches, the band pleasers too.

“We do change it around every now and then, I let Dan, our musical director, choose the set so it surprises me sometimes. We’ve got so much to choose from.”
Shaun was just 18 when the Happy Mondays started, now 63, touring with the band is now a different experience but is one he wouldn’t change.
“I enjoy it more than ever now,” he says. “The sex and drugs have gone and we’re

Shaun is still buzzing from the Black Grape tour, so how easy is it to slip between the two bands?
“It’s actually three,” Shaun reminds me. “I’ve got Mantra of the Cosmos as well, with Zak Starkey and Andy Bell. But Black Grape has always been easier than the Mondays because it’s just me and Kermit, in the Mondays you’ve got a group of people who all have a say.
“But it’s great to have them all going, it feels as exciting now as it was at the beginning. And it keeps me out of the house!”
If you think Happy Mondays fans are limited to those of a certain age, you’d be wrong. Bez’s appearance on Big Brother

“Our fanbase now goes from eight to 80,” says Shaun.
Supporting the Happy Mondays on this tour are The Farm and Northside, both of whom supported the band at their legendary 1991 concert at Elland Road, Leeds.
The tour promises to be one for the ages and, regardless of age, will leave you stepping on well into the night.

Located just eight miles southeast of Doncaster, Bawtry has a reputation for being an attractive and vibrant place to live. Often referred to as the ‘Gateway to Yorkshire’,last year it was voted one of the ‘Top 25 Places to Buy a House’ by the Sunday Times – and with good reason.
Visitors can expect genteel Georgian architecture and an abundance of independent boutiques, cosy cafes, restaurants, artisan experts, cocktail bars and local pubs, not to mention a thriving community scene.
It was in 2011 that a group of Bawtry retailers decided to join forces to promote the town as a premier destination, both locally and nationally, for shopping, socialising and business. The town grew as a river port and as a local commercial centre and stopping point between Doncaster and Retford. By the mid-14th century, the port was exporting wool and other items overseas. Meanwhile, the Hospital of St Mary Magdalene was founded, which survived until the 18th century.
In more recent times, Bawtry Hall was the base for RAF No.1 Group Bomber Command during and after the Second World War and became the headquarters of RAF Strike Command.

Mr Veysi R Veysi explains this invaluable resource.
The National Joint Registry (NJR) was established in 2002 in response to a high rate of failure in a brand of total hip replacement to provide an early warning system for total hip and knee replacement implants. Since its establishment its role has expanded to provide information about the performance of not only implants but also surgeons and hospitals.
It is the biggest registry of its kind in the world with over 4.5 million procedure records. It has also expanded to include all shoulder, elbow and ankle replacements in the UK. People who are interested in data and the extent to which the registry analyses it can see the annual reports on https://reports.njrcentre.org.uk
Surgeons and hospitals review their own data yearly and use it in their annual appraisal to provide assurance about the safety of their surgical practice.
As well as measuring the performances of implants, surgeons and hospitals it is also an invaluable resource for research into joint replacements. The data collected is regularly sampled and analysed by
dedicated research fellows who publish their results and provide information about trends thus enabling improvements in patient care and outcomes.
Patients have online access to some of the information published by the NJR. This is available on njrcentre.org.uk/ and provides information on surgeons and hospitals in the UK. It includes the information about the numbers of cases surgeons have been involved in and compares them to the average in the UK.
The NJR has also developed tools to help
patients decide if they joint replacement. This is available on https:// ac.uk. It is very easy to use and, allows patients to assess how bad their joint is and what kind of improvement they should expect from a joint replacement.
All joint replacements in the UK are entered into the NJR. This data is anonymous and contains no information
patients. It does, however, require the patients’ consent to allow any subsequent included in the outcomes and performance analyses.

High praise andLOYALTY
Returning customers have been one of the cornerstones of Tharavadu’s success. Richard Abbey - back for his second visit - now understands why.
Regular visitors to Tharavadu in Leeds will not be surprised to learn that the south Indian restaurant became one of the top ten in the city - based on Tripadvisor reviews - within a week of opening. That was in 2014 and the accolades have continued to pour in ever since.
There have been commendations from the Oliver Awards, the Michelin Restaurant Guide, Harden’s Restaurant Guide, the Sunday Times and Daily Telegraph, including a superlative review from critic Jay Rayner, who is now name-checked on one of the menu’s dishes (it’s the seafood curry in case you were wondering).
So why the continuous praise and why do people keep coming back in their droves? Well, the answer is simple: amazing food, fantastic service and a welcoming atmosphere. What more could you want?
Tharavadu specialises in Keralan cuisine and offers something a little different from your usual curry house. Kerala is a state on India’s tropical Malabar Coast and has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline so
on the menu. All chefs at the restaurant were born and brought up in Kerala and have got numerous years of experience in this traditional way of cooking.
The Mill Hill restaurant is just around the corner from the station and spread over
open and large space upstairs, perfect for larger parties. The decor feels quite traditional without being twee and the staff are resplendent in their matching tunics and are plentiful in number to ensure service is always attentive.
The staff - on request - were very forthcoming with their recommendations and we left our evening completely in the hands of our waiter who selected a range

and beers (draught and bottled). Beer

First up was Tharavadu’s twist on poppadoms and pickles, which they liken to experiencing the essence of a traditional village tea shop (£7.50). It featured a Pakkavada, savory Kaya Varuthathathu, and perfectly seasoned poppadoms as well as a few banana chips, all served with an apple and mango chutney, lemon pickle and coconut raita.
It was a good start and set the tone for what was to follow.
Papidura mix seafood (£15) is a restaurant favourite and showcased a techniques. We tucked into batter-fried squid, perfectly grilled prawns, crispy fried
one. It was hard to pick a favourite.
We also enjoyed a separate portion of Kumbalangi Konju (£11), juicy shell-on coated in a special spice blend that was almost smoky with a subtle spice kick. Just delicious.
Seafood also featured in our main course choices, this time in the form of Meen Pollichathu (£21), a Keralan delicacy which and then coated with a unique sauce and grilled. These are then wrapped in banana leaves and steamed creating an aromatic
We also tried a Kerala Kozhi curry (£17.50), which is labelled as ‘better than Tikka Masala’ and had incredibly tender chicken pieces served in a rich gravy made from from roasted coconut, fragrant

on what was a truly delicious and satisfying experience. The staff are amazingly friendly and welcoming but it’s the food that’s the real stand-out and worth making a return visit for.
Tharavadu also branched out in 2025, opening Uyare in Victoria Gate, a rooftop bar and restaurant which offers a different kind of Southern Indian experience. But if you like tradition, and are open to trying something a little different, Tharavadu is still the place to go.

Lakeside Village in Doncaster is thanking the generosity of its customers over the festive period who have helped raise over £2,000 for a local youth theatre.
saw a total of £2,219 raised for Cast Youth Theatre, helping and make memories that will last a lifetime.
