Hello and welcome to all you first time guests and welcome back to those who have been here – most probably many times – before. We’re very glad you all chose to visit the uniquely beautiful and perfectly family friendly Red River Gorge Area. You’re gonna love it; I promise. You also not only chose a wonderful destination, you also chose a perfect time to be here. Of course there are reasons to visit the Red River Gorge any time of year because every season here has its own enticing specialness. But and this is just my own preference I love Spring most of all the seasons and May is by far my favorite month of the year. Be prepared for way, way more than you expected. Yes, you are going be pleasantly surprised when you discover there is so much more to do than you could have expected. There are family adventures at every level of participation and excitement. In every direction, you’ll find family-centric venues within just a few minutes from one to another and to another and... Some are well beyond just fun and well into the area of awesome. Maybe even amazing. Accommodations in the Gorge Area range from tent camping to motels. From perfectly planned and furnished rental cabins to luxurious large capacity lodges perfect for family reunions, corporate and church retreats and are certainly the place for wedding guests and receptions. And, if you get ‘round to it, there are several fully modern and comfortably furnished yurts. However, if peace and serenity as well as pleasant surroundings are what you are craving, we gotcha covered there. Big time! There’s nothing like a lazy few hours just lounging in a porch swing or rocking chair, snoozing suspended in a hammock or drifting slowly across a lake or gentle stream. Heck just breathing fresh clean country air and listening to the birds and tree frogs, crickets chirping and the drone of those busy, busy bees can do wonders to calm and refresh. But don’t take that to extremes. After all, there are lines to be zipped, canoes to be paddled, trails to be hiked, and spectacular scenery to be gazed upon. No matter how you choose to spend your time in the Gorge, I guarantee it will be a vacation to remember. And very probably, one you will look forward to repeating. That’s the Red River Gorge Area in a (hickory) nutshell.
