‘My Crew, My Dawgs’, a live Band Concert in Brooklyn NY
L
egendary dancehall quartet T.O.K is set to deliver an unforgettable night of music when they return to Brooklyn for 'My Crew, My Dawgs', a live band concert on Friday, August 7, at Crown Hill Theatre, 750 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11216. Promoted by Jamrock Starz owner Richard "Shams" Browne, the event marks the first stop of an exciting three-city North East tour that will also take the internationally acclaimed group to Connecticut and Boston, making for three performances in one action-packed weekend. Known for their explosive stage presence, T.O.K will be giving fans the opportunity to experience the its timeless catalogue in a way that few dancehall acts can deliver. While a handful of New York-based acts will also perform, the night is designed as a full-scale T.O.K 4
concert, allowing the quartet to showcase hit after hit without compromise. "Brooklyn only got a glimpse of T.O.K when they performed at Reggae Fest. With a career spanning more than two decades, T.O.K has built an impressive catalogue that includes international favorites such as She’s Hot, Footprints, Gal You Ah Lead, I Believe, and Money 2 Burn. Their seamless blend of dancehall, reggae and harmony has earned them a loyal fan base around the world.

SAM NEILL Jurassic Park Star, Died at 78
S
ir Nigel John Dermot Neil aka Sam Neil was born September 14th, 1947 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He is best known for playing Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park franchise. But has had many other memorable roles in major movies, including: Event Horizon, The Hunt For Red October, Dead Calm, The Dish and two upcoming films that will be posthumously released co-starring in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and starring in the romantic comedy The Last Resort, both of which are releasing in 2027. His credits don’t end there. He is credited in over 159 acting roles and 9 directing and producing credits. He is also an accomplished TV series star, as well, with leading roles in Merlin, Merlin’s Apprentice, Reilly, Ace of Spies, One Against the World and Peaky Blinders. Sam was nominated for over 50 television and film awards, including 3 Golden Globe nominations and 1 Primetime Emmy nomination, and he won 14 International film and TV awards in Australia. For his incredible success in the arts, he was Knighted in both Britain and New Zealand. 8

His great success is even more amazing when taking into account that as a child and teen he had a stutter that made him shy away from even basic conversations with people around him. Over time he overcame his fears and his disability and in College he began acting in Shakespearean plays like A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this passion for acting continued into local playhouses in New Zealand, and eventually led to a career in local television beginning with a part in a New Zealand television film in 1971 called The City of No. After several successful films in New Zealand, he got his break in Hollywood in 1981 getting his first major international role as Damien Thorn in The Final Conflict. From there, he went on to major success in the U.S. and International film markets up until this day. Continued on page 10

Unfortunately, Sam Neil was dealing with a weakened immune system from 4 years of Chemotherapy and CAR TCell therapy to treat stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a type of blood cancer; which he was diagnosed with in 2022 after feeling swollen glands. He beat the cancer and was declared cancer free earlier this year in May and June of 2026, however the weakened state from the
treatments left him at risk to more mundane ailments and he died from Pneumonia on July 13th, 2026 at the age of 78. Sir Sam Neil was at the height of his career and was taken far too soon. However even in great sadness there is light. And that light is the joy he has brought to countless people around the world who are fans of his films. That legacy will continue forevermore. You will be missed dearly by family, friends and fans alike, but never forgotten. Rest in Peace, Good Sir. By Michael Devine u 10

The Best Chicken-Fried Steak
Step 1
Four 3- to 4-ounce cube steaks (see Cook's Note)
Liberally sprinkle the steaks with salt and pepper (see Cook's Note). Put them on a rack set inside a rimmed baking sheet and let sit at room temperature while you make the gravy. Step 2 Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over mediumhigh heat. Stir in 3 tablespoons of the flour until combined and cook until golden and bubbling, about 1 minute. Whisk in the whole milk, 1 1/4 teaspoons salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper and cook, whisking frequently, until the gravy boils. Reduce the heat to medium and cook, whisking occasionally, until the gravy thickens, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and keep warm; it will seem loose but will thicken as it sits. Step 3 Whisk the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt in a large bowl. Whisk the buttermilk, egg and hot sauce in a medium bowl. Working with 1 steak at a time, dredge in the seasoned flour, turning to coat and packing into the crevices. Shake to remove any excess and return to the rack. Repeat with the remaining steaks Step 4 Pour 3 tablespoons of the buttermilk mixture into the seasoned flour and work it in with your fingers; it should feel like wet sand with some clumps. (These clumps will give the steak a crispy, shaggy crust.) Dip the dredged steaks into the remaining buttermilk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Pack the moistened flour firmly onto each steak. Very gently shake off any excess and return to the rack. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Step 5 Pour the oil into a large cast-iron skillet fitted with a deep-fry thermometer (the oil should come about halfway up the sides). Heat the oil over high heat until the thermometer registers 350 degrees F. Fry the steaks in 2 batches until golden brown, about 1 1/2 minutes per side. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
