As the bassist and sometime frontman of black midi, Cameron Picton and his bandmates practiced an explosive form of musical world-building, weaving complex storytelling through thrilling passages of controlled chaos. When the group called it quits in 2023, the artist didn’t immediately feel like making a solo record or jumping back into another band. It was from this position of a not-quite team player, not-quite bandleader that Picton entered the studio and the seeds of My New Band Believe gradually began to emerge. The moniker serves as an open invitation, a subtle nod that if a listener is willing to meet the music on its own terms, they’ll be rewarded for taking a flying leap into the dark.

The group’s self-titled debut is a massive and hallucinatory record. It is a collection of music that swerves through wildly different emotional and thematic registers, all the while unraveling an endlessly compelling thread of dream logic. Picton is an unreliable but charismatic narrator, and together with an all-star cast including 7 members of caroline, Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble, he guides the listener through a rapidly unfolding multi-verse of the band’s making.

The record is almost entirely acoustic, using the barest amount of reverb and electronic effects possible. It would be a mistake to assume these light touches mean that their music is any less maximal. Picton leads his band so that each track forms, scatters and re-groups, so that the uplift of one song crashes head-long into the rush of another. Inspired by Bert Jansch’s hypnotic, harddriving guitar and Judee Sill’s panoramic pop, My New Band Believe is both all-encompassing and constantly in flux.

The debut album of one of Britain’s most acclaimed and influential bands, Songs to Remember takes us back to the beginnings of Scritti Politti. English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Love began her musical career in the late 70s with the legendary Dolly Mixture, a group of three teenage friends who subverted pretty much every rock cliche imaginable with their bright, energetic DIY pop music and created the template for countless non-dude bands since. No one used the words post-punk or indiepop back then, but Dolly Mixture are in the DNA of both.

After Dolly Mixture Rachel wrapped-up in 1984 continued writing and playing music, but it wasn't until 2021 that she released the first record under her own name. Picture In Mind is packed with lush, dreamy pop that sits comfortably between 60s sunshine pop and and the mod-ish sounds of groups like Saint Etienne and Broadcast. Tunes like "Primrose Hill," "Wandlebury" and "Borrowed Time" drift by like daydreams, foregrounding Rachel's lovely voice and melodies. Co-produced with her late husband, Steve Lovell (Blur, Julian Cope), "Picture In Mind" is minimal but never overly spare; rather it basks in a warm simplicity that feels like a tonic in these hectic times.

Initially released as a limited edition on CD only, we're very happy to bring "Picture In Mind" out on vinyl LP -- a beautiful orange vinyl edition at that -- now for the first time, alongside a repackaged CD.

Post Dolly Mixture, Rachel kept busy writing and playing music in various groups, leading in 2021 to Picture In Mind, an elegantly pastoral sunshine/folk/indie pop album co-produced with her late husband Steve Lovell. Rachel's 2024 album Lyra was written and recorded as she processed Steve's passing, joined by her sons David and Syd as players, with David also co-producing.

Musically Lyra is very much of a piece with "Picture In Mind," surveying intimate folktinged pop, elegant atmospheres and gentle melodicism that perfectly complements the stately, sorrowful tunes. Songs like "Without You," "Fly Me Away" and "April Love" are beautifully-effecting chamber pop, lush and dreamy odes to love, loss and family.

Initially released as a limited edition on CD only, we're very happy to make Lyra more widely available worldwide on yellow vinyl LP and as a repackaged CD, alongside corresponding reissue of "Picture In Mind."

Full Of It, the album Pitchfork praised for “expertly balancing flame-belching Mad Max riffage with lyrics frankly exploring questions of codependence and need,” captured a turning point for the band, sharpening their raw, hook-driven sound into something more focused and intense. At the heart of Home Safe is a question Crayon posed to his collaborators: “What does home mean to you?” The answer is heard across a stellar lineup of voices, including anaiis, Rhye, ELIZA, Yamê, Arthur Teboul (Feu! Chatterton), JPL (Tora), and painter-turned-singer Lossapardo, each contributing their unique perspective to this evocative sonic world.

A central figure in the Parisian music scene and a trusted producer for French rappers like Josman, Dinos, and Prince Waly, Crayon now steps into the spotlight with a deeply personal, genre-defying, communal solo project. Home Safe traverses soul, folk, jazz, hip-hop, and electronic landscapes, drawing inspiration from his roots, community, and the complex idea of home.

The album’s genesis took place in a shared Paris apartment, where Crayon and jazz pianist Bastien Brison hosted intimate Sunday jam sessions. These gatherings blended live music, dance, and visual art, creating an atmosphere of spontaneous creativity and raw emotion. Musicians, singers and rappers, Leo Walk and members from his dance company La Marche Bleue, together with visual artists Enfant Précoce and Julien Bernard, all came together in this unique collaborative space, shaping the spirit and energy that permeate Home Safe a record that marries the grandeur of jazz orchestration with the intimacy of bedroom production.

Following this vibrant period, Crayon faced a challenging personal chapter, retreating to his childhood home on the outskirts of Paris. There, over three years, he refined the album’s lush, warm sound a seamless fusion of orchestral richness and quiet introspection.

“Home Safe is about reconnecting with all the music I found comfort in in our little suburban home where I grew up on the outskirts of Paris,” Crayon says. “Remembering the smell of the fire in the chimney, with my stepdad’s folk records playing in the background.” The album’s cozy, intimate sound reflects this nostalgia, wrapping listeners in a warm embrace. “I had this need for quiet music,” he adds.

Home Safe invites listeners into a richly layered world where sound, image, and emotion intertwine. This debut marks the emergence of an artist with a clear vision, profound sensitivity, and a unique ability to translate the intimate concept of home into a bold, genre-blurring musical statement.

"Any Old Fool," the previously unreleased track from the stewards of sweet soul is a dancefloor friendly proclamation of love, whose funky guitars, raw bassline and hard hitting drums provide the perfect groove and vibe for Josh Lane's smooth vocal swagger. ABOUT THE ALBUM

This is the Dahmers third album “Creature Feature” and the band continues to dig deeper in to a world of dark things, the things that don't belong, provokes, gives you the creeps or just makes you want to look away.

“Our vision has been to explore and develop the bands sound but also to maintain the bands profound and colorful essence. We want people to feel good when they hear the album, take them with us to another planet and make 'em forget about all the trouble in the world for a while” - Christoffer Karlsson (Vocal/guitar) The album was recorded and co-produced by Johan Gustafsson aka “The Johan and only” from the Hives in studio Ingrid in Stockholm. There's a new level and feel to the production with guest musicians on some tracks. With instruments like brass, cello, flute and piano the songs reaches their full true potential, along with added synth elements this gives the band a fresh feel. There's a wide variety of songs on the album where every track has it's very own theme, sound and characteristics. Where deep subjects like darkness, sorrow and alienation are being explored along with the bands continuing homage to the classic slasher and giallo flicks of the 70's and 80's, but also songs about a Swedish fakir, cults, rats and creatures from outer space. This album is a celebration to trash culture and to the underdogs, all delivered with that catchy uplifting chorus The Dahmers is known for.

With Variations for Light Waves, the Swedish composer intensifies the focus that defined her 2022 debut Arch of Motion Again centered on the breath and hum of the pipe organ, the album deepens her poetic, deep-listening approach. Its seven pieces each find a resonant point on the instrument and patiently reveal its character, as though gently coaxing it into view. Talp’s path has been similarly gradual. She first emerged in the late 2010s, releasing music under the moniker Deerest before shifting toward improvisation and minimal composition, where attentive listening became central to her practice.

Recorded on pipe organs across Sweden over four years, the album features contributions from Christer Bothén (contrabass clarinet) and Mats Äkelint (trombone), whose playing merges seamlessly with Talp’s aerated tones. The improvisation “Air On Both Sides” with Bothén, captured in 2022, became the album’s starting point. Talp sought to draw out the organ’s quietest, most delicate possibilities, at times contrasting them with Buchla recordings. This intimacy is balanced by an interest in fragility: the title track slowly unravels its descending chords, while the brief opener forces the organ’s pipes to gasp for breath. Themes of light, landscape, childhood memory, and her daughter’s birth in “thick white fog” shape the album’s atmosphere. Ultimately, Variations for Light Waves is music that envelops like mist yet carries emergent power sound on the verge of transformation, always holding new potential.

Linnéa Talp (b. 1990) is a Stockholm based composer and musician (pipe organ/vocals), current with her forthcoming solo album Variations for Light Waves (Thanatosis, 2026). The record consists of seven minimalistic and airy pieces for pipe organ, contrabass clarinet and trombone, partly recorded on the meantone baroque organ in Tyska kyrkan (Stockholm). In 2022, her album Arch of Motion was released on Thanatosis. UK blog Freq wrote: A”rch Of Motion is an extraordinarily thoughtful work that is enhanced by the deftest uses of flute, trombone, piano and guitar; but really it is all about your relationship with the pipe organ and the unique ambience it brings to your world. A gentle but transportative album that is worth a place in anyone’s collection.”

Talp’s body of work is based on air, timbre and of slowly evolving harmonic, in which she aims for the vague and subtle qualities of sounding and listening. Her practice is centered around presence and a bodily listening, with breathing as its very foundation. In recent years, she has appeared in contexts such as Alternativa festival (Prague), Norbergfestival, Malmö Konstmuseum, Organ Sound Art Festival (Copenhagen) and Café OTO (London).

Studio One Soul tracks the link between American Funk and Soul and Jamaican Reggae at the legendary Studio One Records.

Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, The Temptations, King Floyd, Booker T and The MGs - all these artists had a huge influence on Jamaican artists and this CD contains versions of songs by all of them. Featuring classic and rare Reggae Funk and Soul cuts from the Reggae giants alongside rarer cuts, Studio One Soul spans over 20 years of classic Reggae from the Rocksteady Funk through to the deep Roots music.

Following on from Studio One Rockers, this second journey into the vaults of Studio One tells the story of the important link between American Funk and Soul and Jamaican Reggae. Ranging from music taken from the mid-1960s (and the arrival of Rocksteady) through to the beginning of the 1980s, Studio One Soul features versions of US Funk and Soul hits (many rarely heard before) from some of the many classic artists who recorded at Studio One. American Soul music has always been an important influence on Jamaican Reggae.

The beginning of the Jamaican recording industry at the end of the 1950s started with Clement "Coxsone" Dodd (owner of Studio One) and a group of select in-house musicians (originally The Skatalites) recording their own version of American R'n'B. Playing on the off-beat this music became Ska. As American R'n'B progressed through Funk, Soul and Disco, Jamaican music was going through its own musical changes, from Rocksteady throught to Reggae and Roots music. The house-band at Studio One recorded on a daily basis behind all Studio One vocalists as well as recording instrumentally in its own right.

Soul singers such as Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions (Queen Of The Minstrels) had a profound influence on Jamaican artists and many other US artists were constantly re-interpreted and re-worked. Artists such as Aretha Franklin (Respect), Charles Wright (Express Yourself), King Floyd (Groove Me), Otis Redding (How Strong) were all very popular in Jamaica in the 1960s. At the end of the 1960s Black Consciousness became an important part of American Soul music. At the same time many Jamaican artists were starting to look to their roots. Many artists would shortly become involved in Rastafarianism. The "conscious" lyrics of American Funk and Soul again struck a chord with Jamaican artists. "Message From A Blackman" (originally by The Temptations) and "Is It Because I'm Black" (Syl Johnson) are examples of this. Through the 1970s Soul/Disco artists such as Barry White ("Can't Get Enough" and "Deeper and Deeper") and The Detroit Spinners ("I'll Be Around") became the flavour of the day. This CD finishes with Willie William's interpretation of Ashford and Simpson's classic "Ain't No Stopping Us Now".

It is true of Steve Miles’ lyrics. Nostalgia for an imagined past where men were men, and racism was de rigeur is eviscerated in title track When Britain Was Great. Fetishisation of a World War by patriots who are too pumped up to realise the war was a fight against Nazism is picked apart in Angels In The Clouds. And the clumsy, halfarsed struggle to seek something better, to try to escape the trap of cynical acceptance of it all, is sardonically observed in the comically accident-prone Falling Down The Stairs With Arthur Seaton. All this is interspersed with deeply personal tracks like The Space She Left, unflinchingly exposing emotional vulnerability and anxiety, and with carefree pop songs, still able to access the wide-eyed wisdom of childhood: The Sea Is A Pirate’s Best Friend expresses a kind of joy that we all had once, but have lost contact with.

The music is a refutation of ‘masculine energy’ too. Sometimes echoing the casual, intimate, fragile tones of the TV Personalities, the songs are bluntly emotional but shamelessly catchy. On other occasions - louder occasions - the echo of an angry Wreckless Eric riff can be heard. The warmth and gentleness of the vocal might remind you of Jonathan Richman. The experimentation - the brass section, the feedback, the occasional reggae rhythm – is reminiscent of the earliest, fearless phase of punk adventurism – The Slits, The Mekons, The Desperate Bicycles even. 20 years on, those feelings are just as, if not more, relevant than they were in that moment. America has mutated into a new confused version of itself, in many ways unimaginable two decades ago.
