Redeye Label of the Month Q&A Learn more about our partners in our Monthly Label Spotlight!

This Issue: Rob Collins and Martin Goldschmidt at Cooking Vinyl

How did you personally get started in the music industry? Rob - I wrote letters to anyone I could think of and miraculously Island Records invited me to interview for a job in the post room, that I got. This was 1979! MG - As a political activist I was inspired by rock against racism and decided to set up the equivalent for the anti nuclear (CND and environmental) movement called No Nukes Music. When and where did the label begin? MG - My first label started in 1982 when I couldn’t get anyone to release a single of a band I was working with (Akimbo) and so I set up my own label (Forward Sounds International) and released it. Pete Lawrence joined in 1986 and this morphed into Cooking Vinyl. What is the meaning behind the name for the label? MG - After a bottle of finest scotch malt whisky the name made complete sense to us??? How has the label changed since it started? Rob - Small when I started in 1999 and not accustomed to success. Now we aim high on everything we do, and with Exceleration involved, there isn’t a limit. MG - When we started we got lucky with our 2nd release with Michelle Shocked, Texas Campfire Tapes. We made every mistake in the book. 40 years later we have learnt how to run a label successfully. How would you describe your overall ambitions and goals as a label from when you first started compared to now? MG - Started off to support artists, and make great music available. We still do this but have added making a profit to this list… How would you describe the average fan of the label? Rob - Someone who loves great music I suppose, although that’s very subjective MG - We are too diverse to have an “average fan.” Not sure if we have any fans? Where do you go to search for new music? Who or what has been a new find (on the label or otherwise) you’d like to rave about? Rob - I get sent a lot of music and I love discovering music, usually on Spotify as that is my preferred DSP. I was blown away by Katherine Priddy’s voice when her manager sent that to. We’ve made 2 albums with her that I’m very proud of. We know you can’t choose, but what’s been your favorite label release, and why? Rob - The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die. Changed the trajectory of the label. MG - Agreed What’s the wildest marketing promotion you’ve ever worked on for any release? Rob - Brass d****s for Psychic TV. MG - Magic mushroom tea for the Poisongirls.

If you had the budget, what would be your dream “outsidethe-box” or “crossover” marketing campaign? Rob - Burn a million pounds! MG - Put a £20 note in every CD sold. What is your stance on color vinyl? What’s the most unique color LP or overall packaging you’ve ever seen or released? Rob - I embrace it. My favourite packaging that we done recently is an Orb box set in a wrap around hexagonal sleeve that opens up like a flower. MG: All of our Alan Parsons Project Box Sets are pretty special. How do you feel about the rising costs of vinyl records? And what about the continued popularity of the CD format? Rob - We just follow the economics but try to keep vinyl prices competitive with other indies. MG - We sell tons of CDs so long live the CD! What in your opinion has been the biggest change in the music industry from when you first started compared to now? Rob - First streaming and now AI. MG - Now anyone can get their music distributed - gatekeepers are gone. How do you view the issue of being environmentally sustainable within the music industry? Rob - It’s a difficult one but we work with suppliers that help us do that. We support Music Declares Emergency. MG - We 100% support these campaigns. Just 36 fossil fuel companies produce over half the world’s CO2. Saudi Aramco alone accounts for around 4.3% of global emissions — more than any single entity on the planet, more than most countries. Scientists have now directly linked Aramco, with Gazprom, Exxon, Shell, BP and Chevron, to specific deadly heatwaves that would otherwise have been “virtually impossible.” So when we talk about the heat dome, we can name names. My point isn’t that personal choices don’t matter. It’s that “we all need to do our bit” can’t be the headline when a dozen corporations and an unaccountable, unreported military sector — including the wars our own governments fund and arm — are driving so much of this. That’s where the campaigning needs to be. How important are issues like mental health and social justice to you and the label? Rob - They are are important to me personally so I hope that’s reflected in the label as well. MG - Ethics are more important than profit. Want to shout out a personal favorite record store or retail establishment? Now’s your chance: Rob - Rough Trade in London. I’ve been buying records from them since 1976. I bought “Anarchy in the UK” from them when it came out on EMI. They say our sun will explode in about 5 billion years or sohow would you like the label to be remembered? Rob - I hope we’re not forgotten and are able to leave some kind of legacy or cultural footprint. MG - Fondly remembered.

TEXAS EDIT • LIVE FROM AUSTIN, TX

New West Records Presents: Live From Austin, TX — Five Essential Titles, Now on Vinyl for the First Time

For over fifty years, Austin City Limits has been the sacred ground of American roots music — a stage where legends showed up, stripped things down, and played like the cameras weren’t rolling. New West Records is proud to bring five of the most celebrated performances in the series’ history to vinyl for the very first time. Delbert McClinton’s iconic 1982 performance — remastered specifically for this release — captures one of Texas’s most beloved musical institutions at his absolute peak, raw, soulful, and utterly alive. Robert Earl Keen’s Live From Austin, TX is the definitive document of a Texas singer-songwriter who never quite fit the mainstream mold — and was all the better for it. The Texas Tornados bring together Freddy Fender, Doug Sahm, Augie Meyers, and Flaco Jimenez in a 19-song Tex-Mex masterclass recorded just one year into their legendary run. Asleep at the Wheel, joined by original Texas Playboys Eldon Shamblin, Leon Rausch, Herb Remington, and Johnny Gimble, deliver a Western Swing performance that is part concert, part living history lesson. And the Outlaw Country guitar pull — Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Joe Shaver, and Kimmie Rhodes trading songs in a September 1996 session that felt less like television and more like a miracle — rounds out a collection that will never be replicated. Taken together, these five records tell the story of Texas music across five decades — its toughness, its tenderness, its humor, and its soul. Each one has been pressed on vinyl the way it was always meant to be heard. Five performances. Five legends. One stage. On vinyl for the first time.

The Kilans - Could You Keep It Dark? out 10/30/26

BIO The Kilans are an indie rock band from Salt Lake City known for their raw sound, kinetic guitars, and electrifying live shows. Formed in 2023, the lineup — Jack Ongman (vocals, rhythm guitar), Jacob Shultz (lead guitar), Cooper Brezoff (bass), and David Wiseman (drums) — came together after Jack and Jacob met while skateboarding in college and started jamming in basement sessions that quickly turned into something bigger. Just five months later, they released their debut single "Curly," a burst of unfiltered energy that made waves across the local scene. Their follow-up, "Why Is It Light Out?," sharpened their songwriting and expanded their reach, pairing introspective lyrics with dynamic, guitar-driven production. The track landed them on multiple editorial playlists and marked The Kilans as one of the most promising new voices in indie rock. Now, the band takes their next major step. On October 30, 2026, The Kilans will release their debut album Could You Keep It Dark via Mom and Pop Music. Anchored by key singles "Cherry, Please" and "Oliver," the record marks a bold leap forward — channeling the raw energy of their basement origins into a fully realized body of work. In support of the release, the band will embark on a North American tour, bringing their signature live intensity to stages across the continent. With Could You Keep It Dark, The Kilans aren't just delivering on their early promise — they're announcing themselves on a national stage, authentically on their own terms.

WILLI CARLISLE

THE UNIVERSAL BUBBA With a heavy-duty catalog of new material for a career-first double album, The Universal Bubba marks a half dozen releases for folksinger Willi Carlisle and reaches new heights with the added accelerant of first time producer Tyler Childers. In an all-time DIY effort, Childers and his band convened to a makeshift home studio nestled in the Bywater District of New Orleans for two weeks to cut 17 tracks that expand Carlisle’s sonic scrapbook and capture the off-kilter characters living in his songs. Hailed as "One of country music’s most important and unmistakable voices.” by PASTE, Carlisle embraced the freedom to wander across genres both familiar and new, testing out instrumentation and toying with the surreality of traditions being turned on their head. “I think this one goes to outer space,” says Carlisle. “This is the widest range of influences that I’ve ever had. It touches on funk, Americana, Cajun, oldtime, and experimental music.” Exploration aside, Carlisle’s mission as a folksinger largely remains the same - documenting the stories and struggles of the people and balancing the humor and hope of existence. “I want to write songs that prove the old weird America didn’t go anywhere, that we are living and dying for it everyday. I believe there’s noble work to do in that context. That if we feel despair, we don’t need to because there’s so much good work to do.”

The dB's · Cycles Per Second: US Tour 2024 OCTOBER 30, NOVEMBER 6,2026 2026

The dB’s Cycles Per Second: US Tour 2024 For years, The dB’s story was framed by a near-miss mythology: cherished early albums, complex release histories, a loyal following, and influence extending beyond their records. However, the 2024 Propeller Sound Recordings reissues of Stands for deciBels and Repercussion shifted this narrative. These essential albums are now available again in newly remastered versions, giving longtime fans cause for celebration and new listeners an opportunity to experience the band not just as a minor mention but as a significant force. That renewed attention brought the original quartet back to the stage for a U.S. tour that felt more like a revival than mere nostalgia. Cycles Per Second: US Tour 2024 documents that moment. Mixed and compiled by the band’s own Chris Stamey, the 13-track set brings together performances from across the tour, featuring all four original members — Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Will Rigby, and Gene Holder — joined by keyboardist Wes Lachot. Initially released as a 13-song "highlights" edition on vinyl for Record Store Day 2026, the album now features a more comprehensive 22-track edition on CD and digital formats. This version provides a broader perspective on the tour and offers a richer glimpse of the band in action.

GREENLAND CRACKER Released 11/06/2026 Greenland, the seventh album by Cracker, arrives on vinyl for the first time on a Limited Edition Orange Eco Mix Double LP. Also available on an updated re-issue CD and indies exclusive Transparent Ocean Green and Dark Green Algae Splatter Vinyl, limited to 500 copies. Cracker was formed in 1990 by David Lowery and Johnny Hickman. The main lineup on Greenland includes some of its longest standing members, Frank Funaro on drums, Kenny Margolis on keyboards and Victor Krummenacher on bass. A truly international affair, Greenland takes us from Californian rock & roll, to space-age-reverb-drenched Moroccan inspired riffs. This edition also includes the previously unreleased track ‘I Know Your Sister, She’s Big in Japan’, penned by Lowery and Hickman and recorded during the original album sessions. Cracker continue to play live through 2026 in the US and Europe, and are proud to present the Greenland reissues off the back of their ‘Alternative History: A Cracker Retrospective’ from 2024. Expect the same classic Cracker alt-country-rock n’ roll guitar work set against the idiosyncratic lyricism that set both Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven on their own journeys to cult status. Or to Greenland as it were.

BIO feeble little horse is naturally delighted to present their third full-length LP, bitknot. Always spurred on by the simple motivation of being the best band in the world, this collection of 11 songs slowly percolated for the three years that

have passed since their acclaimed sophomore album, Girl with Fish – a digitally-altered noise rock shockwave that not-so-gently shepherded them everywhere from Coachella Valley to the scenic river routes of Paris. The ever-developing class of studious admirers that this increasingly experimental band has generated during this

time will surely find familiar respite in the overwhelming squall of guitars throughout “Doorway,” “Dior,” and “Shopping,” representative trademarks of their general disregard for the traditional contours of a guitar’s capabilities.

n an exchange of information, Oso Oso comes across as a band who knows exactly who they are without being too precious about it. It's a big sounding rock record that lets Jade's songwriting move where it wants to, from the indie rock Oso Oso has naturally grown into over the years back toward some of the emo and punk energy it started with. Lead single “know you know me better” gets at that right away — loud, upbeat pop-punk that keeps building before breaking wide open with the chorus. “You get to a point where you are on your sixth LP for a particular project and it's almost like the previous releases themselves become an influence,” Jade says. “You know what the ‘band’ is about… but you also have to figure out where you wanna go that you haven't been before.”

The record started with a call from Quinlan, who was getting Feral Twin off the ground and initially reached out about repressing some earlier Oso Oso records. Jade was more interested in the batch of new songs he was already sitting on, and the conversation turned into making a new record together. “I've spent most of my life around independent music, as a musician, an agent, a talent buyer, touring, booking shows, and working with artists,” says Quinlan. “I want Feral Twin to be a home for music and ideas I genuinely believe in… an exchange of information is the perfect way to introduce Feral Twin.”

Scott Fagan – Soon . Scott Fagan’s new album Soon, 55 years in the making, revives songs from his lost 1971 Broadway rock opera.

Alongside songwriting partner Joe Kookoolis, Fagan conceived and wrote the rock opera, an age-old story of an artist forced to make a devil’s bargain between their principles and success, intending it to be the follow-up to his classic 1968 debut, South Atlantic Blues. But fate intervened. The production (which starred Fagan and a young Richard Gere) closed early, the album was shelved, never to be recorded or heard. Until now.

Artist: Scott Fagan Title: Soon Release date: 2026-11-06 Label: Fire Records/ Earth Recordings

Track List

Recorded over seven days in July 2025 at the hallowed Sam Phillips Recording Service in Memphis with a crack rhythm section, the thirteen songs on Soon illustrate Fagan’s extraordinary facility and range as a singer and songwriter of great sensitivity, passion, and humour.

From its rousing gospel opener (“Let The World Begin Again”), through fiery, protest songs (“Faces Names and Places”, “Straight”), and tenderhearted ballads (“Child of Sympathy”, “To Touch the Sky”), the album is by turns, uplifting, mournful, righteous, giddy, soulful (title track, “Soon), and anthemic (closer, “Please Be Well”). This feels like an album of lost classics waiting to be rediscovered.

DUSTY SPRINGFIELD: HOME AGAIN—THE COMPLETE UNITED ARTISTS RECORDINGS

(REMASTERED 2-LP VIOLET PET PLASTIC EDITION/REMASTERED 2-CD EDITION) STREET DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2026 Here is the next volume in our ongoing effort at Real Gone Music to chronicle every step of Dusty Springfield’s artistic journey through the ‘70s: the first-ever collection of her United Artists sides! In the mid-1970s, legendary British singer Dusty Springfield took a break from performing and recording following a dramatic divorce from ABC/ Dunhill Records. The soulful songbird had relocated to Los Angeles in an effort to focus on her American career but had suffered from her infamous insecurity which caused her to abandon an album in 1974. Although Dusty was courted by longtime admirer Elton John for his Rocket Records label, when she returned to recording in 1977, Dusty chose United Artists Records for her new home. Young songwriter Steve Dorff was assigned to produce a pair of his compositions with Dusty from which to choose a kick-off single release. Although “Let Me Love You Once Before You Go” only briefly bubbled under the Billboard Hot 100, it set the stage or follow up sessions headed by Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker. The result, IT BEGINS AGAIN, was heralded as Dusty’s comeback in 1978. The tracks on IT BEGINS AGAIN reflect a mature Dusty covering a variety of genres: pop, rock, soul and disco. Baker surrounded her with the cream of the west coast studio musicians and Dusty brought her A-game to the project. Projecting both warmth and fragility, her voice expressed new textures and techniques which were new to her sound. She would pursue a somewhat softer approach with her second UA album, LIVING WITHOUT YOUR LOVE, from 1979. This sophomore set, produced by David Wolfert for the Entertainment Company, focused on soulful pop with a little light dance music in the mix. In both LIVING WITHOUT YOUR LOVE and IT BEGINS AGAIN, it was clear that Dusty had regained both her confidence and joy as a songbird supreme. For this 2-LP/2-CD set, we’ve added five non-LP bonus tracks including the promotional-only extended mix of “That’s The Kind of Love I’ve Got For You” by the renowned Tom Moulton that put Dusty on the Billboard dance charts and set the stage for her smash collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys a decade later. Most of the tracks have been pulled from the original American masters for the first time, and the whole collection’s been remastered by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision. Joe Marchese’s notes amply fill an LP-sized 4-page insert boasting rarely seen period photography. Pressed on violet PET plastic or available on double CD! Although Dusty’s three years with United Artists often are overlooked, these recordings prove that she was still artistically potent as the greatest female blue-eyed soul singer of all time.

Spring Rain

(Limited, Remastered Blue with Black Swirl Vinyl Edition) STREET DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2026

Columbus, Ohio’s Rudolph Johnson drew comparisons to John Coltrane during his career; like the jazz legend in his later years, Johnson eschewed drugs or alcohol and spent his time every day either meditating and rehearsing on his horn. You can definitely hear a little bit of Coltrane in Johnson’s playing on this, his 1971 debut release for the Black Jazz label, the first of two he recorded for the imprint and the first he recorded as a leader after some sideman work (most notably for organist Jimmy McGriff); his ability to explore the upper registers and overtones of his tenor sax while retaining control is quite striking. Of course, this being a Black Jazz release, along with the bebop sounds of “Sylvia Ann” and the mid-‘60s Blue Note stylings of “Sylvia Ann,” there’s the soul jazz of “Diswa” and the groove funk of “Devon Jean,” all played by, as is typical on Black Jazz releases, by top-notch sidemen including drummer Raymond Pounds, who’s played with everybody from Stevie Wonder to Pharoah Sanders to Bob Dylan, and pianist John Barnes, whose work is very familiar to Motown fans (Supremes, Temptations, Marvin Gaye). Bassist Reggie Jackson, who appeared on the Walter Bishop, Jr. Coral Keys record we previously released, rounds out the quartet. Remastered for vinyl by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision and featuring liner notes by Pat Thomas, author of Listen, Whitey! The Sights and Sounds of Black Power 1965-1975, this blue with black swirl pressing is limited to 500 copies!

RUDOLPH JOHNSON:

The Second Coming

(Limited, Remastered Blue with Black Swirl Vinyl Edition) STREET DATE: NOVEMBER 6, 2026 The album title is apt, as this was saxman Rudolph Johnson’s second album for the Black Jazz label. But more importantly, the quality of the music it contains renders the more common, Messianic meaning of the phrase “the second coming” equally applicable. Saxman and bandleader Rudolph Johnson never attained the commercial success of some of his contemporaries, but his fans consider him the rightful heir to John Coltrane’s improvisational genius. And with keyboardist Kirk Lightsey in the band for this go-round, sparks are gonna fly, starting right off with the cookin’ album opener “The Traveler,” which if you close your eyes will definitely bring to mind Coltrane’s classic quartet circa the early ‘60s. Indeed, unlike most of the other releases on the Black Jazz label, The Second Coming barely nods to the fusion and soul jazz trends that were sweeping jazz at the time. Instead, this is expressive, free improvisation at its best, beautifully recorded by producer Gene Russell and deserving of a much wider audience than it found the first time. Remastered and annotated, and limited to 500 blue with black swirl copies!

TRACKLIST

BIO Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee to a deeply rooted musical family, songwriting quickly became Oscar Lindsey’s second nature. His self-released 2025 LP, Glitter, allows influences such as Elliott Smith and Alex G to shine through sonically while providing a wholly original experience to listeners via personal anecdotes and storytelling. His first single with Mom+Pop, “Metal Through Her Lips,” takes the intangibles of the coming-of-age experience and neatly packs them into a single sucker punch. At 24, Oscar has solidified himself as a songsmith through and through, making introspective folk music feel accessible to the everyday listener, creating his own world within the songwriting that draws fans in through its soulbearing and identifiable qualities.

Janky Bungag

Hangin' Out & Hangin' On

Release Date: November 6th, 2026 Janky Bungag is a Filipino-Canadian flatpicker from Vancouver making alt-country for everyday people — bluegrass-fast, outlawwarm, and charged with punk energy. A Royal Mountain Records signee who's shared stages with Dougie Poole, The Mary Wallopers, Dead Ghosts and many more, he turns the rent, the romance and the last-call math of city life into a genuine good time.

Distributed Exclusively by Redeye info@royalmountainrecord.com www.royalmountainrecords.com

His new album, Hangin’ Out & Hangin’ On, out November 6th, is a record about the beautiful math of being broke in the city. The debitcard roulette of one more round at last call, the lovers who turn into strangers, and the strangers who turn into songs. It's a snapshot of life as a working musician in Vancouver: the ups, the downs, the love and the lust, all carried with a picker's hands and a half-full cup. The title track says it best: no money in the account, ends up at the bar anyway. Crunchier and more sure of itself than anything Janky's done 505 Eno St., Hillsborough, NC, 27278 www.redeyeworldwide.com before, and pointedly free of wagon wheels and hay bales, it's his Jeanette Wall most realized work yet. Alt-country for everyday people. Real music jeanette@redeyeworldwide.com for real people and a reminder that we're all hangin' on to something.

MAQĀM RECORDS AMIR ELSAFFAR FEAT. KHALED ALHAFEZ ASHWAAQ Amir ElSaffar is an Iraqi-American composer, trumpeter, santur player, vocalist, and modular synthesist who has achieved international renown for his work combining the Maqam tradition of Iraq and the Arab world with jazz. The New York Times calls him “the celebrated trumpeter and composer who explores vital connections between jazz and Arabic music,” while SPIN dubbed him “THE INNOVATOR,” writing that he “mixes jazz and traditional Arabic sounds to glorious effect.” With Ashwaaq, he displays a new facet of his work with a composition for string quartet, santur, and vocalist Khaled AlHafez, a master of the musical tradition of Aleppo, Syria. This dialogue between AlHafez’s warm voice and interpretive style that blends rigor and grace and string quartet explores the microtonal resonances of the maqam and the possibilities of a polyphony rooted in Arab traditions. The texts come from Turjuman Al-Ashwaaq (Translator of Desires) a collection of mystical and ecstatic love poems written by the revered 12th century Sufi mystic, Ibn Arabi, and explore the universal power of love, the inner quest, and the

search for unity in the diversity of the world. Ashwaaq is a captivating moment of celebration, where poetic and musical heritages intersect beyond cultural and disciplinary boundaries.

“LEAF MINER’S DAUGHTER” STREET DATE - 11.06.2026 11.13.2026 GAR HOLE RECORDS, GHR-036

GENRE: ALTERNATIVE, ALT-COUNTRY, INDIE ROCK KEY MARKETS: TEXAS, CHICAGO, NEW YORK, DENVER DALLAS / SAN ANTONIO TX (HOME MARKET) Comfort with ambiguity, dynamic experimentation and melancholy are rife throughout Brody Price’s newest record, Leaf Miner’s Daughter. Classic alt-country at its core, this collection meticulously weaves together Americana into sluggish, heavy grooves; overdriven guitars, hook-laden acoustic dissonance - all bolstered by a songwriter full of heart and intention. An integral member of the Dallas / Texas scene and national DIY touring community, Price has been quietly building a dedicated community of fans across the US since 2017, entirely independent and reliant on each other to build and shape the tours by word of mouth. Following a cassette recorded collection of country songs, ‘What’s The Point In Trying’ (2017), and the gorgeous and chaotic ‘Win A Trip To Palm Springs’ (2022), Price is tracing a sonic and narrative arc that feels specific, earnest and whimsical - not without its dark corners and deep questions. The innate ability to find beauty among the rubble is rife throughout his newest, revealing an authentically tender desire to dig deeper to find relief and understanding. He invites us to empathize and sit alongside his turmoil in an effort to make ours more bearable. At home in his musicality and the discomfort of living, Price revels in the act of putting the pieces back together, giving us all permission to do the same.

3TWI - Fatima Al Qadiri’s new EP - is Kuwaiti femme slang for dirty old man; literally “male alley cat.” Over four regional club tracks, Al Qadiri explores this humorous background character with vocal collaborators Bobo Secret, Lama3an and Gumar, conceptually following her long-term pre-occupation with dance music, gender identity and performance in West Asia. A musical homage and love letter to WA folk dance traditions, 3TWI celebrates the region’s ethnic diversity and the shared love of music lore across borders through a coy queer lens. Lyrically split between suggestive spoken word and yearning anthems, the songs are queer in intent and largely improvised, in Kuwaiti and Classical Arabic, and the 3eemi Farsi dialect.

DANNY BROWN | ATROCITY EXHIBITION (10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EDITION) OVERVIEW Celebrating a decade since the release of this landmark hip-hop album, Warp are proud to present special edition formats of a modern classic. Boasting features from Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, Ab-Soul, Kelela and B-Real; production from Paul White, Alchemist, Black Milk, Playa Haze, Evian Christ and Petite Noir; and mixed by Derek ‘MixedByAli’ Ali as the cherry on the cake. The melding of Brown’s unique flow and tone with an innovative soundscape, pulling samples from such esoteric sources as 70s German cosmic rock records, radiophonic experiments and industrial techno, set a new high watermark in experimental rap, with tracks like “Really Doe” and “Ain’t It Funny ” becoming leftfield anthems.

On Beginningless, Anna Butterss, John Raymond, and Ben Lumsdaine combine acoustic instruments and effects to create a nocturnal, neon landscape both grounded and otherworldly. Recorded live over two days in a Los Angeles studio, the album expands the trumpet-bass-drums format through shared intuition, fluid textures, and patient, elastic interplay. The music is entirely improvised, with little overdubbing or post-production: what you hear is essentially the sound of three musicians discovering the music together in the room, using pedals and processing as extensions of their instruments. The trio draws on musical relationships stretching back more than a decade. Butterss and Lumsdaine first met as students in Bloomington, Indiana, in 2010, beginning a collaboration that has continued through numerous projects, including Butterss’ recent solo work. After Butterss moved to Los Angeles, Raymond moved to Bloomington in 2017 to begin teaching at Indiana University where he and Lumsdaine developed their own musical rapport through Call & Response, a weekly jazz series Lumsdaine founded as a space for improvisation

and visiting musicians. Raymond inherited the series when Lumsdaine moved to Los Angeles in 2019, and when Butterss and Lumsdaine returned to Bloomington together in 2024, a performance became the genesis of the trio. This history is audible on Beginningless. It captures musicians with a deep understanding of one another allowing that familiarity to lead them somewhere new. The trio cites Jon Hassell and the innovative Fly, the trio of Mark Turner, Larry Grenadier, and Jeff Ballard, as touchstones. But Beginningless arrives at its own particular balance between atmosphere and immediacy. Unlike the live, improvised performances that often become the raw material for Butterss’ work with SML and Jeff Parker ETA IVtet, these improvisations were made in the studio, allowing the trio to listen closely and continually vary their approach to sound, space, decay, resonance, electronic color, mood. The result feels spontaneous and atmospheric without sacrificing the physical presence of three people playing together. An endlessly rewarding LP, Beginningless is novel every listen.

Press

Nobody Loves You More is a singularly uplifting, lifeaffirming listen, where joy and despair, love and loss, are irrevocably entwined, and kept afloat by Deal’s unfailing lightness of touch. — Mojo ***** Kim Deal’s solo debut is sonically wide-reaching yet still intimate, exemplified by one of its best tracks, “Are You Mine”. Pensively dreamy, the tune pairs Lynchian doowop with an alt.country twang. .... The title track is a stunner too, all swelling strings and booming brass that brings to mind Scott Walker’s avant-pop. —Uncut 9/10 It’s a superb album, full of welcome surprises. — The Independent There’s something freer to the music on Nobody Loves You More, which suits Deal well and has made this record worth the wait. - Rolling Stone

LULLABY FOR THE WORKING CLASS • BLANKET WARM Blanket Warm is a genuine buried-treasure reissue: a record contemporary critics compared to the Rolling Stones, Guided by Voices, and Tindersticks, and one a new generation of listeners has rediscovered as a missing link to Neutral Milk Hotel and Sufjan Stevens’ chamber-folk. Lullaby for the Working Class formed in Lincoln, Nebraska in the winter of 1994, when multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis and singer-guitarist Ted Stevens began writing together. The two were soon joined by Mikeʼs brother, A.J. Mogis, on upright bass, and drummer/percussionist Shane Aspegren. Working from two home-recorded demos — and without having played a single live show — the band signed to New Jerseyʼs Bar/None Records in 1995. Blanket Warm was recorded and mixed by the Mogis brothers between December 1994 and April 1996 at their own Whoopass Recording Studio in Lincoln, the same room and crew that would go on to anchor Saddle Creek Records. Bar/None issued the album on CD in September 1996, while the vinyl LP went out through the Lincoln-based Lumberjack/Saddle Creek imprint in a pressing of just 1,000 copies — long out of print, and the edition this reissue restores to the format. The result splits the difference between rustic and ornate: acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, and upright bass sit alongside a chamber ensemble of violin, cello, clarinet, trumpet, and trombone. Critics at the time reached for an unusually wide range of comparisons — the Rolling Stones, Guided by Voices, Tindersticks, Van Morrison — united mainly by the sense that nothing else sounded quite like it. Ted Stevensʼ plainspoken, image-driven lyrics and unhurried delivery anchor songs that unfold with more patience and more instrumental color than the alt-country and lo-fi indie rock the band got lumped in with on release.

Yes, Virginia... Tailor’s Version Released 11/13/2026 The Dresden Dolls announce a global tour and the re-recorded release of Yes, Virginia… (Tailor’s Version), out on vinyl and CD November, 13 2026. Guest vocalists include Jinkx Monsoon and Veronica Swift. The pioneering punk cabaret duo of Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione enter a new chapter with a full re-recording of their 2006 album Yes, Virginia…, tracked in Boston. The new release arrives November 13, 2026, followed by a tour across the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Europe. The title nods to Taylor Swift’s reclamation of master recordings. After a 20-year contract with Roadrunner Records, the band regained the right to re-record their catalog. The announcement comes nearly 20 years after the original release. The track list remains unchanged (with a bonus track on vinyl and CD), while performances reflect two decades of artistic and personal evolution. Known for Viglione’s orchestral drumming and Palmer’s percussive piano and songwriting—exploring sexuality, identity, addiction, capitalism, and social isolation—this version brings new depth. Songs including “My Alcoholic Friends,” “Sex Changes,” and “Backstabber” return with renewed intensity. Recorded in late 2025 at Mad Oak Studios, the album was tracked mostly live with Benny Grotto and mixed by Paul Kolderie. It also features artwork by Niki McQueen. The release signals a resurgence: nearly 3 million Spotify followers, over 240 million streams for “My Alcoholic Friends,” and a recent platinum certification. Formed in Boston in 2000, The Dresden Dolls helped define “punk cabaret” and continue to reach new audiences.

AN F-BOMB SATURATED HIP-HOP CALL & RESPONSE CLUB CUT...FROM SUN RA?! While the most renown track in this omniversal opus is the atomic expletive-filled repartee “Nuclear War,” there is so much more to this dark mysterious journey through the mind of Sun Ra. The sprawling, suite-like 20-minute title track sustains a lyrical edge in spite of an open framework and textures, which encourage sonorities to surface and emerge from the band as if there was no human intention behind them. In opposition to “Nuclear War,” Ra's organ playing here was built less on bombast and sonic terror than it is on whispers, stutters, shivers, and swells. Fireside Chat offers a wide stylistic array, as was the artistʼs intent, reflecting his eclectic, seemingly irreconcilable approach to compositional extremes. With Sun Ra you get everything... except predictability. Thomas Stanley, in his ambiguously titled 2014 book, The Execution of Sun Ra, observes, "Throughout his life [Sun Ra] was consistent in his opposition to war and his art reflected this, perhaps most sharply in the space chant 'Nuclear War.' 'It's a motherfucker, don't you know,' Sun Ra and trombonist Tyrone Hill [joined by June Tyson] sing over a deceptively sparkly chromatic piano line played at a steady walking rhythm. It is worth noting that this spicy chunk of language is the only use of profanity that this author is aware of in Sonny's vast recorded song repertory."

Myron & E – Broadway Stones Throw Records | STH2314-4 13 November 2026 | Soul | R&B

Myron Glasper and E (Eric “E da Boss” Cooke) are a vocal and songwriting duo who first worked together while on the road with the Bay Area’s Blackalicious. While touring in Finland behind his solo project, E found himself in an impromptu jam session with members of The Soul Investigators, whose work with singer Nicole Willis helped define them as one of Europe's foremost retro-soul bands. Investigators producer Didier Selin left E with several unfinished tracks. Back in the U.S., E recruited Myron as a singing and songwriting partner, and "Myron & E" was born.

VINYL It all began with Asleep at the Wheel. Willie Nelson may have done the original Austin City Limits pilot, but the Wheel was the first act to perform on the first episode of the very first season in 1976. Nearly two decades later, they returned to that same stage for a performance that would become one of the most celebrated in the series’ storied history.

Recorded on October 14, 1992, Live From Austin, TX captures Ray Benson and his band at the peak of their powers — a swinging, rollicking 14-song set that moves from Western Swing barnburners to jazz-inflected shuffles with the confidence of a band that has spent decades making this music its own. Highlights include “Miles and Miles of Texas,” “Hot Rod Lincoln,” “Boot Scoot Boogie,” and a scorching run through “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66.”

INDIE/WEBSTORE VINYL

But the performance reaches another level entirely in its second half. Several original members of Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys — pioneering electric guitarist Eldon Shamblin, singer Leon Rausch, pedal steel player Herb Remington, and virtuoso fiddler Johnny Gimble — join the Wheel onstage for a series of Wills classics that serve as both a living tribute and a direct passing of the torch. “Corine, Corina,” “Roly Poly,” “Blues for Dixie,” and “Sugar Moon” have rarely sounded more alive.

AllMusic called the performance “special,” noting that the band is “so relaxed, open, and in the groove” that it stands out even among their finest live recordings. Now on vinyl for the first time, this is Western Swing history you can hold in your hands.

Genres: Alternative, Americana, Indie Folk For Fans Of: Ken Pomeroy, boygenius,Sheryl Crow, Beth Orton, Waxahatchee About: After spending much of the last several years touring as a sidewoman with Jimbo Mathus and Shinyribs, Schaefer Llana is finally home. Metaphorically speaking, that is. “I eventually realized that home isn’t just a place,” she explains. “It’s anywhere you find it.” On her captivating solo debut, Full Circle, Llana finds home wherever she goes: in family, in friends, in nature, in music. Recorded in her native state of Mississippi with a crew of longtime collaborators, the collection is meditative and dreamy, radiating a languorous Southern heat as it drifts between past and present, connection and isolation, love and loss. Llana writes with profound vulnerability, punctuating the poetic grace of her lyrics with deeply personal revelations and unflinching self-reflection, and she delivers her songs with a tender, almost casual ease, one that belies the emotional turbulence behind much of the material. The result is a raw, cinematic slice of alt-Americana that calls to mind everything from Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch to Sharon Van Etten and Waxahatchee, a lush, literate exploration of the people and places we carry within, and all the forgiveness, hope, promise, and pain that tethers us together.

“I look for warmth and hopefulness in a world that is overwhelmingly dark and brutal. We get to map our meaning onto this life.” — JAMES FELICE

ABOUT THE ALBUM

On his sweeping sophomore solo effort, James Felice squares up against cosmic indifference with expansive orchestral production and a depth of writing that makes even visceral Biblical imagery feel effortless. Recorded in Omaha with Nathaniel Walcott (Bright Eyes) at the producer’s helm, Homeworld Blue pairs lush horns, intricate strings and pounding piano with Felice's authoritative, plainspoken voice — grand in scope, but never far from the small, everyday moments it's really about. Drawing on twenty years as keyboardist and accordionist of The Felice Brothers, and following his 2025 solo debut The Little Ones, Felice trades the intimacy of home recording for a maximalist, cinematic scope that sits comfortably alongside audacious songwriters like Joanna Newsom, Fiona Apple and Randy Newman — and closes, fittingly, back in the family kitchen. Peat’s artistry here, is to create a moment where one woman’s voice represents the voices of many through the ages, or as Peat describes it, ‘communicating hundreds of years of other people’s experiences, that have been absorbed into the songs from generations and generations before you – binds you with a worldliness beyond the sum of your own experience’. Los Bitchos - Los Bitchos & Friends Vol 1 Los Bitchos — a band already defined by the collision of cultures — are taking their cross-continental spirit even further with a new album that celebrates global unity through collaboration. Drawing from their own diverse roots — spanning Australia, Turkey, Sweden, and the UK — the band dives deeper into the idea that music is a universal language, one that thrives on exchange, curiosity, and connection. Inviting guest artists from different corners of the world, blending rhythms, textures, and traditions into a vibrant, borderless mix. The record becomes more than an album; it’s a celebration of shared humanity, showing that when cultures meet, they don’t clash — they dance.

Shaina Hayes

TAKE THE CASE OF A ROSE Shaina Hayes’ third full-length album, Take the Case of a Rose, is an exploration of resilience, legacy, and the quiet transformations that shape a life. Written during a period of deep personal transition, the record reflects a shift in perspective — a turning inward, a renewed attention to the subtle emotional and ecological rhythms that guide us. The album gathers themes that surfaced for Shaina during this time: the tension between holding on and letting go, the passage of seasons, and the unexpected beauty that emerges when life asks you to reimagine your path.

• 3 bonus tracks on physical product • Album features Brad Barr from The Barr Brothers, Arielle Soucy, and Cédric Dind-Lavoie • Produced by Shaina Hayes, Francis Ledoux and David Marchand (both from the band zouz) • Shaina shared the stage with acts such as The War on Drugs, The Barr Brothers, Matt Holubowski, Helena Deland • Past nominations at Canadian Folk Music Awards and Quebec’s ADISQ

OBITS Cake Shop LP January, 2008 - early days for the Obits. With the Hot Snakes on hiatus and Rick Froberg in NY, the Obits started jamming as early as 2006, but with the addition of Greg Simpson on bass in 2007, things realy began to gel. By the time they played their first show at NYC’s Cake Shop on January 12th, 2008, they were fully formed as a band. As luck would have it, this first show was recorded and holy shit, what a show! The tapes circulated through the underground circuit, landing on the desk of Sub Pop’s Chris Jascob’s – and he knew he had to sign the band the moment he heard them. Over the course of three albums and countless singles on Sub Pop, the Obits built a formidable catalog and a rabid fanbase. We’re incredibly excited to be able to release this limited edition live LP of their first show, so that you can hear how it all began. Eleven tracks, ranging from fan favorites like One Cross Apiece and Widow of My Dreams to unreleased tracks like You Took and Axe, Cake Shop is a must for any Obits fan.

ew figures bridge the worlds of gritty Americana roots and British psychedelic blues quite like Carla Olson and the late, legendary beat poet Pete Brown. On this collaborative album, For Pete’s Sake, the two join forces for an extraordinary collection of songs co-written by Olson and Brown, who penned iconic Cream classics like “Sunshine Of Your Love” and “White Room,” as well as tracks for Procol Harum and The Hollies. Hailed by The Guardian as “perhaps the closest British rock music had to Bob Dylan,” Brown found a kindred spirit in Olson after being introduced by Paul Jones of Manfred Mann. Before his passing, Brown praised Carla as a “very, very good American musician... producer, writer, guitarist, and singer,” kicking off a fertile creative partnership that culminates with this remarkable album.

Spacehorse

Track Listing:

No place was quite like San Diego in the 90s and early 00s. Legendary, and often short-lived, bands on now infamous DIY labels pushing the musical envelope and carving out a place for themselves during a period when hardcore and punk music was splintering into countless styles and sounds.

Spacehorse was one of those bands. They had a serious pedigree featuring members of Heroin, End Of The Line, Clikatat Ikatowi, The Camera Obscura, and more. However, during their brief two-year existence from 2004–2006, they managed to craft a sound quite different from their previous bands. They delivered fast, aggressive, 80s DC/Midwest style punk-hardcore.

Skyscraper magazine once called them, "...old (ish) school hardcore, but souped-up and modernized; brutal but layered and dense."

In 2025 Solid Brass began working with the band to help memorialize their contribution to the San Diego punk music scene. This single LP, self-titled discography gathers Spacehorse's self-titled 12" (Gravity Records, 2004), the 'Ghosts of the Civil Living' album (Day After Records, 2006), and a previously unreleased song called "Dirty City". The material has been remixed and remastered from the original tapes.

The collection will be available digitally and on classic black vinyl on 11/13/26.

GENRE: Metal/Industrial FILE UNDER: “B” Body, The ; “C” Cel Genesis RELEASE DATE: 13-November-2026 NO EXPORT Tension, contradiction, curiosity, animosity and affection - these are all essential to the collaboration between The Body and Cel Genesis. Also essential are the sounds of trance music, the weight of distortion and the grinding of experimental electronica - all counterpointed against the viscerality of two live drummers. The idea to collaborate and make Whole Wide World was hatched on tour, with few parameters other than to use friendship, humility and each artist’s distinct processes to create music. Cel Genesis’ creative practice tends towards maximalist writing - coupled with aggressive editing. The Body’s process as exploratory shape shifters is foundationally improvisational, and inclined to push ideas to their outermost limits as they have with distortion, vocal techniques and in other collaborations’ samples and beats. Recorded at Machines with Magnets by Seth Manchester with additional recording in California by Andrew Oswald, Whole Wide World evolved over a period of two years, several recording sessions and meticulous editing. Some songs were built from beds of electronics generated by Cel Genesis, served to the group to be edited and arranged; others grew from beds of live drumming by Lee Buford (The Body) and Nick Cowman (Cel Genesis), that were similarly worked and re-imagined. This intensely collaborative approach was liberating and joyful - a giddiness born of boundless exploration yet shaped by an elemental tension as methods of creation were forcibly altered by compromise and revision. The inherent contradictions in process and emotion compliment the themes addressed on the album - a reckoning with the past, nostalgia and lost hope. Whole Wide World is a dense and heavy album, but one that nevertheless feels joyful and fresh - an uncategorisable ode to egoless invention. It’s a work born of artists with disparate approaches, who feel compelled and comfortable to surrender them, in service of the birth of new art. Whilst the album was made with joy, the themes of the album confront today’s harsher realities; we see this play out as through the eyes of an unrelenting optimist processing the death of possibility itself.

Oakland-based Cel Genesis (made up of producer and vocalist Christopher Danko, drummer Nick Cowman, and vocalist Pauline Poderoso) create visceral, blistering Industrial Hardcore for the new millenium. GENRE: Electronic/New Music FILE UNDER: “J” Jan St. Werner RELEASE DATE: 13-November-2026 NO EXPORT Best known as one half of the innovative German electronic duo Mouse on Mars, Jan St. Werner also pursued a solo career as Lithops and under his own name. He began releasing music as Lithops in the mid-’90s (around the time of his collaboration with Markus Popp as Microstoria), and through a series of 7 records he has innovated and explored the boundaries of electronic music. Werner’s latest album, Squares Will Fall, began in 2012 as an electronic composition lasting exactly thirty minutes, created to mark the thirtieth birthday of a friend. Over time, the piece continued to evolve, eventually forming the foundation for an improvisation by Justin Vernon and Jan St. Werner during Mouse on Mars’s Dimensional People sessions at Vernon’s studio in Wisconsin. In 2021, “Squares Will Fall” assumed a new form as a multidirectional loudspeaker choreography created for the Ural Industrial Biennial. Three independent layers of the composition were transmitted through loudspeakers suspended via long ropes from the circus ceiling and were continuously repositioned by the performers. By moving the speakers through space, the acrobats became active participants in the mixing process, shaping an ever-changing choreography inside the circus arena. The audience was free to wander through the venue, experiencing shifting perspectives of the work and creating their own recordings as personal documents of a composition that existed differently for every listener. In 2026, Werner completed “Squares Will Fall” and created the first stereo mix at Mouse on Mars’s Paraverse Studios. Andi Toma (Mouse on Mars) joined the final mixing sessions, contributing bass elements that subtly expanded the work’s sonic depth. The resulting stereo version brings together more than a decade of transformations, preserving the piece’s open, cut up character while translating its spatial and performative origins into a form suitable for focused listening. “Swamp Brains” is a purely generative composition, built primarily through granular synthesis and unfolding as an uncategorizable sonic organism. Constantly shifting and resisting stable form, the work inhabits a space between speculative sound design and abstract narrative. Its increasingly strange trajectory is guided by the voice of actor Roseanne Rubio, who narrates a fictional neuroscientific experiment. The text follows a metaphorical account of alien life forms that identify themselves as brains, beings capable of reproducing physical sensation and emotional intensity through electronic neural eruptions. The result is a work that moves between science fiction, cognitive speculation, and computer-generated sound. “Flötotto” is derived from a live session led by Jan St. Werner at National Sawdust in New York. The original performance brought together Ben Lanz of The National and Beirut, drummer John Colpitts aka Kid Millions, clarinet virtuosos Christa Van Alstine and Rane Moore, as well as Sufjan Stevens performing on drum machine. Through an extensive editing process and computer-based sound transformation, Werner reshaped the material into a work that moves freely between improvisation and composition, acoustic performance and electronic hyperspace. “Flötotto” is an exuberant collage in which live interaction, post-production, and digital processing become inseparable parts of one single musical language. Taken together as an album, the songs are a joyous musical adventure. Understanding the complexity of the songs origins is not required; as with all that he does, Werner’s love of music and collaboration shines through in this inventive boundless listen.

TRACK LISTING: 1. Squares Will Fall 2. Swamp Brains 3. Flötotto SALES POINTS “Mutant, microtonal feedback reveries” - Uncut “As with other installments in his Fiepblatter Catalogue, the arcane framing produces an album of rich, encompassing textures. It occupies a sweet spot between the electroacoustic music of black-hoody-dominated basement shows and the kind that inhabits Radiophonic Workshops.” - Dusted Jan St. Werner, a well-respected artist and musician known for his solo compositions, his work with Mouse On Mars, and his collaboration with Markus Popp as Microstoria, returns with Squares Will Fall, the eighth installment in his Fiepblatter Catalogue series Werner has also collaborated with The National, Mark E. Smith (The Fall), Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), David Grubbs, Stereolab and Lee Scratch Perry. Werner was artistic director of STEIM, the Dutch studio for electro-instrumental music. Werner has presented works at Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Ural Industrial Biennale, documenta, Lenbachhaus Munich, and ICA London, and taught at MIT and AdBK Nuremberg. Squares Will Fall was mastered by Andi Toma (Mouse on Mars) and Rashad Becker, with art direction by Rupert Smythe (Dazed & Confused Magazine, Nike, Sony). Squares Will Fall will be available on LP, Clear Blue Colored LP, and CD. All formats come with a download coupon.

PRODUCED BY GRAMMY ® WINNER WILL YIP (TURNSTILE, TITLE FIGHT) In the religious world, Rita is the patron saint of desperate and impossible causes. Pærish singer/guitarist Mathias Court grew up being able to see a church named after her from his childhood home, and still can whenever he returns there. Though he’s not religious, his mother is, and she raised him “with the feeling of being protected by this church.” As such, the name of this fourth Pærish full-length is steeped in personal meaning for him. Court says that writing this record rekindled a specific feeling he’d had when he was younger. For him, the process felt a lot more impulsive than it had been for 2023’s You’re In Both Dreams (And You’re Scared), and brought him back, in more ways than one, to that childhood home, and that view of the church—and everything that came with it. “When I was writing these songs,” he says, “it was such a different feeling from the previous album. That one was more sad and intellectual, because it was written during COVID when we were staying at home. This new one was more free, and many of the songs reminded me of that feeling I had when I was teenager and my biggest dream was to become a songwriter. So it’s also a tribute to the person that I was back then who really wanted to write songs.” The result is 11 songs that do indeed hit harder—literally and metaphorically—than anything Pærish have made before. It’s louder, brasher, more direct. The shoegazey elements which have been such a defining sound of Pærish’s music are still there, but this is, as Court puts it, “more brutal and raw.” That’s clear from the moment the squalling feedback and crashing drums of opener “Prince Of Darkness”—more a reference to John Carpenter than Ozzy Osbourne—kick things off. It’s still dreamy and beautiful in a typically Pærish way, but it feels intentionally more immediate and visceral. It’s not a one-off. The gloomy, glowering “Heal” and “Vapour Clouds” are both surging, scrappy explosions of bombastic feeling, while “Wait For Dark” builds to a deafening crescendo before “Crashing In Circles” swoops in to both temper and elevate the album’s bristling atmosphere. But there are moments of quiet reflection too, contemplative journeys back to Court’s teenage years that bask in the glow of past dreams with the full knowledge that they’ll be realized in the future. This is particularly true of “Always Assuming”—despite the crunching riffs that punctuate its shoegazing aesthetic, the gorgeous “Soothe”, which does just that, and “Hurry Slowly”, a vulnerable, open-hearted lament that feels perfectly formed for this day and age. Rita, true to the inspiration of its title, is a magnitudinal force that combines both sides of their identity—the French nationality and the American influences—into a devastating, heart-crushing, transcendental whole that incorporates the band’s past self with who they are today.

Lasts BIO Over the 20 year history of Land of Talk, Lizzie Powell has drifted to and from music, always interrogating their role as an artist. Yet the music didn’t stop: they heard songs in traffic and in birds chirping, in their downstairs neighbor’s daily prayers and in the babble of children on the street, until reemerging with LASTS, an album that picks up where Land of Talk left off, wielding honesty, empathy, and righteous anger alike. LASTS is full of double meanings—both resilience and finality, acting as a noun and a verb.

The overwhelming magnitude of global turmoil led Powell towards smaller, humane depictions of suffering and grief. As their parents became ill, they reflected on the last time a person might walk, might talk to a loved one. Yet watching their parents near the other side of life’s arc also made them consider all they had survived across their own decades on this earth, their new songs channeling both gratitude and rage. “I think of this record as a love letter to life,” they say. LASTS songs travel through everything that has been on Powell's mind in these years: the sharp polarity of the

When Japanese artist Masayoshi Fujita was invited to create the soundtrack for Expo 2025’s vast living nature installation, Forest of Tranquility, he immediately envisioned a relaxing public space in which visitors could tune out the noise and restore their energies. Inside this green open-air sanctuary – visited by millions of people during the landmark Osaka event, which ran for six months – stood a central pond and 1,500 real trees, all rescued and repurposed from Expo’s former ‘70 site and other parks in Osaka. Fujita set about deepening the listener's connection to the complementary ebbs and flows of the natural world using dynamic shifts and gentle arcs to shift the mood. The result was a living tapestry that mirrored the surrounding forest, with nonlinear patterns and textural twists and turns — creating a portal into the unexpected. It’s from this honourable commission that Fujita’s new album for Erased Tapes, Forest of Tranquility, grew. Like the Japanese kankyō ongaku (environmental music) pioneers Hiroshi Yoshimura, Midori Takada and Haruomi Hosono before him, Fujita makes gentle, mind-massaging music intended to blend harmoniously with its environment. For Expo ‘25 visitors, this synchronicity – the forest setting intertwined with its associated sounds – would have bettered their experience of being outdoors; for at-home listeners, this synergy now takes the form of a serene transportive pod, capable of taking you anywhere you wish. On the follow-up to 2024’s Migratory LP, the organic resonance of Fujita’s acoustic instruments – marimba, vibraphone, and percussion, with Armenian duduk from Hayk Karoyi and Japanese shō from Mattias Hållsten – acts as a showcase of nature’s design. Field recordings of birds and frogs make a hidden home among its branches and broad leaves, and bring the album’s biomimicry and ecological quality into even sharper focus. As do the atmospheric drones and burrs of white noise that evoke the wind whipping through the mountains. But, mainly, the objective was to carve out a roomy sound world for reflective thought. “I wanted to have a lot of space in between the sounds,” says Fujita. Having lived in Berlin for 13 years, Fujita moved to rural Japan in 2020, aiming to make music in nature. Now he is as close as one can be, living with his family high up in a mountain village along the coast of Kami-cho, Hyōgo, three hours west of Kyoto – surrounded by water and the occasional bear – and working out of a former kindergarten. For that reason, coursing through the leafy veins of Forest of Tranquility is the distinct feeling that you, too, might wander off into the wilderness someday and never return to the city. Forest of Tranquility blooms across seven long-form trails; each shifting subtly in tone according to the time of day. “They had a biorhythm – in the morning you start a little bit slowly and with a little bit more space, and then around noon you get a little bit more active. Then in the afternoon you get more settled and calm, and around 6 o'clock you are more active, before revisiting calm,” explains Fujita of the concept behind the original commission. Cont…

rummer Jeremy Cunningham and saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi have been nearinseparable collaborators for years, working in countless groups together across Chicago’s vibrant jazz community. Their new album A Better Ghost finds them in collaboration with Los Angeles-based bassist/producer Paul Bryan, and is the product of phone-recorded improvisations and experiments dating back to 2017. With Laurenzi creating sequences and samples on the OP-1 synthesizer while on the road with Bon Iver, and Cunningham developing drum parts and melodic fragments, the two began finding a distinct direction to take the work, sharpening and editing these snippets into cohesive compositions. While Cunningham and Laurenzi have collaborated this way for years, they decided to add Los Angeles based musician Paul Bryan, the Grammy-winning producer, engineer, and bassist (Jeff Parker, Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams) who co-produced Cunningham’s Northern Spy debut 2019 LP The Weather Up There to finish these pieces. Adding bass parts and a producer’s ear to these songs, Bryan’s vital contributions were the missing link. “Paul really understood the vision of our music and added so much to what we’d already recorded. At a certain point it was a no-brainer to expand the duo to a trio” says Laurenzi. On A Better Ghost, there’s a euphoric melding of Chicago and LA’s jazz worlds present with features from prolific saxophonist Josh Johnson, legendary drummer Jay Bellerose, and Cunningham’s Resavoir bandmate and leader, trumpeter Will Miller. The resulting tracks are the product of years-long collaborators expanding their deep chemistry. On “New Dust,” Laurenzi provides a smooth, natural improvisation, dynamically ebbing over a deep dub groove kept steady with distinct rhythmic assurance from Cunningham, Bellerose, and Bryan. “With What We Have” wakes slowly, focusing on gradual layering of horns that culminates in near-chaos. . The title track highlights the trio’s seamless blending of acoustic and synthesized palettes, featuring a woozy clarinet sample and propellant percussion alongside sci-fi synths and a Pharoah Sanders-inspired saxophone solo. Singer Katie Ernst guests on “The Way We Remember,” crafting a melody from a poem Cunningham wrote about the passing of his father in 2020. The synths ebb and flow along with Cunningham’s painterly approach at the drums, spreading colors and lines across a languid backdrop of saxophone chords and synth bass. A Better Ghost is a reflection of how Cunningham, Laurenzi, and Bryan have found a natural musical connection that is unbound by genre and deeply personal. “Playing with Dustin and Paul has strengthened my musical instincts and allowed me to become more patient developing a sound and playing a song. Sometimes you have to just let the thing happen. Try not to get in the way too much, and let the music breathe.”- Jeremy Cunningham

Object Hours SOLVED BY WALKING LP-TLR-164C Street Date: November 13, 2026 Format: limited edition 140g orange vinyl LP UPC: 634457164741

Leather-jacket krautrock? Indeed. Welcome to the world of Carrboro NC's Object Hours. These generous saviors come in the form of three Triangle scene lifers (Harrison Haynes of Hellbender / Les Savy Fav, Nora Rogers of Solar Halos and Jenny Waters of Work Clothes) who all worship the riff *but* imagine what happens if the riff fell into the middle of your favorite CAN LP. Yes, these are strong words but they live up to the hype. Solved By Walking is the band’s second album and first to see wide distribution. While it was recorded in the winter of 2025 at Betty's in the Chapel Hill woods, these are mighty rock slabs that are equipped and ready for all seasons. Rock believers have felt the ripples floating around in the aether and have known that this day was coming. Three Lobed Recordings is overjoyed to be able to provide this public service. These are songs that groove, peel paint, sandblast, inspire unconscious movement, make your head bob - frequently all at the same time. These are the jams made for remembering that time that you heard Fun House coming out of that dude's car with the windows down in the middle of the summer, for thinking about the kids who own 3 copies of Daydream Nation, a beacon to everyone who listens to the last 1:30 of Wire's "Too Late" over and over. This is the band that has a timer on stage so they don't keep each song playing for days on end, the band whose Bandcamp bio succinctly summarizes their approach thusly: "We try to keep songs under 25 minutes for your sake." They know they are tapping into the beyond and they want to make sure everyone who hears what they are channeling is ready. Not only should every word here be inspiration for you to *want* and *need* to hear this record, but you should understand that every word here is true. Object Hours shows are transporting and mesmerizing. They are a band that has fit right in on stage alongside acts as varied as Kim Gordon and Tropical Fuck Storm, bringing the house down in these and all similar moments. Real heads know and the rest of the heads are getting ready to find out. Get ready for Object Hours' Solved By Walking. We suggest going ahead and buying two copies because you are going to wear your first one out.

µ-ZIQ [REMASTERED] TANGO N’VECTIF: SESSIONS LABEL:

PLANET MU RECORDS STREET DATE:

13th NOVEMBER 2026

BLACK VINYL GATEFOLD 2xLP: CAT013X UPC: 5056321683168

µ-Ziq’s Tango N'Vectif was released in 1993, a classic year for auteurist electronic music that didn't always fit on the dancefloor. Written by Mike Paradinas in his late teens with some help from Frank Naughton, it still stands up really well today and its influence on electronic music in the decades since is obvious. Across an expanse of ideas, taking influences from early Aphex, Detroit Techno and UK Hardcore, Mike created this spirited, funky, jerry-rigged, lo-fi version of rave; with crunchy drums and a knack for melody that fell somewhere between John Barry and classic TV themes.

2LP A: Whale Soup Xenith Filigree Anus (Edit) µ-Ziq Theme (Original) Driving Is Easy

Without owning a computer, Mike had been writing techno, house and industrial tracks on and off since 1990, playing live keys alongside drum machine rhythms on his 4-track recorder. µ-Ziq started when Mike linked up with Frank who was also writing dance-influenced music, and importantly owned an Atari 1040ST computer with Cubeat software. They pooled their equipment and Mike would travel up to Frank's house a couple of miles away in Wimbledon to record together.

C: Phi*1700 [u/v] (Extended) Paco Crosstown Traffic

By 1992, and after a false start when a proposed EP for Mark Pritchard and Tom Middleton's Evolution label got shelved, Mike had started at Kingston University where he deejayed and met like-minded people including a couple of guys who knew Aphex Twin who was also a student at Kingston too, and they passed Aphex a demo of Mike's material. A few days later Mike got a message from his mum to ‘call Aphex Twin’ and he gave Mike some advice, and seemed interested in releasing something. So when Frank and his family went on holiday that summer Mike borrowed his Atari and synths and wrote the majority of the Tango N’Vectif album during that 2 weeks. By the end of 1992 a release with Aphex Twin and Grant Wilson Claridge’s Rephlex label had been agreed - Aphex had moved to the house in Clissold Crescent where he recorded a lot of his early classic albums and Mike went over to collect his advance, in the form of his very own Atari computer

D: Xolbe 2 Rainforest Glink

The Tango N’Vectif: Sessions 2LP contains tracks from the original 1993 CD version, the 2001 2xCD reissue, remixes and alternate versions of album tracks, music from the Phi*1700 [u/v] EP on R&S Records and other exclusives, selected by Mike, all completely remastered from DATs by Beau Thomas,.

LP 1 1. Needles in Strawberries 2. Petrichor 3. Pirouette 4. Carousel 5. Dream Sequence 6. Ebbs & Flows

BLURB

Adelaide, Australian psychedelic rock project, Druid Fluids return with their highly anticipated second studio album Pareidolia. Across ten expansive tracks, the record explores the strange & deceptive nature of bias, perception, superstition, and ultimately the human instinct to find meaning in patterns—real or imagined. Written & recorded at frontman Jamie Andrew’s home studio, the album features a melange of influences such as krautrock and prog-rock, taking shape through psychedelic textures, melodic pop sensibilities, cinematic dreamscapes and experimental production. Pareidolia is hypnotic, intimate, and surreal. Its world of recurring symbols, labyrinthine passages and dream-logic imagery invites listeners into an immersive space where the line between clarity and confusion is blurred. Melodies twist and reform, rhythms circle back on themselves, and subtle motifs echo the album’s central question: what do we truly see, and what do we think we see? “The record revolves around the concept of the human yearning for understanding, and our tendency to project our own meaning onto things in an attempt to make sense of the world around us.” — Jamie Andrew (Druid Fluids)
