LENTEN JAZZ VESPERS | March 3, 2021 The Order of Worship at 7:15 pm To mitigate spread of COVID-19 in our community, on-site activities— including worship services—have been cancelled. Many activities continue, but in different formats: ZOOM for interactive small groups and classes, to-go meals for the Food Ministry, and streaming worship services and music from the archives. Please use the links available on the viewing page to let us know that you are worshiping from home, to offer any prayer requests, to let us know if you need help or are available to help a neighbor, and to continue to give to support the ministries that continue, socially distant for the common good. As always, we pray that worship at Redeemer is a blessing for you, even as your participation blesses us, even though we are not together in person. As you are comfortable, we encourage you to sing the hymns and to sing or speak the congregational portions of the liturgy in bold type.

A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name. We meet you O God, in your son, Jesus Christ, who knows our weakness and bears the wounds of the world. Hear our prayers as we cry out to you. Come quickly to help us, O God; save those who call upon your name. For your church throughout the world when our brokenness hinders your mission (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For your creation yearning for healing and renewal (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For every nation torn by war, strife, violence, and hatred (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For the grief, suffering, and burden caused by the pandemic (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For disabled people who are harmed, neglected or killed by their caregivers (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For the patterns of privilege and systems of discrimination (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For those who are dying, sick, recovering, and for all who care for them. For [names of submitted prayer requests] (PAUSE) and your children cry, How Long O Lord? For the lasting grief of our loved ones who have died. God of all compassion, hear our cries we pour out to you. In your mercy, grant to us what you know we need, that we may walk in the newness of life and peace of your Spirit, through Jesus Christ, our hope and our salvation. Amen. 6

LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
