CALIFORNIA INDIAN DAY CELEBRATION AT THE STATE CAPITAL Redding R ancheria
Friday, September 23rd, 2022 was California Indian Day and our very own Chairperson of the Redding Rancheria, Jack Potter was on hand to represent. He joined a vast number of other California Tribes and delegates in celebrating the day and attending a special dinner. Thank you Chairman Jack Potter for making the trek and representing the Redding Rancheria.
CNIGA & TASIN HOLD JOINT “ALL TRIBES MEETING” Redding Rancheria
Chairman Jack Potter, CEO Tracy Edwards, Councilwomen Patty Spaulding attended The California Nations Indian Gaming Association (CNIGA) and the Tribal Alliance of Sovereign Indian Nations (TASIN) jointly hosted “All Tribes Meeting,” in Sacramento on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022. It was open to all California-based federally recognized tribes. Among the items discussed by the dozens of tribal leaders in attendance were sports wagering and tribal/ state compacts. It was amazing to see so many Tribal leaders together!

RRHSCC Welcomes Director of the RRTHS Glen Hayward On Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, the Redding Rancheria Head Start & Child Care welcomed Glen Hayward, the Director of the Health Services for the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health System, to be a guest reader for all the children. Each child received a special preschool workbook as well. Thank you Glen!

We recognize love is love and we are honored to sponsor the NorCal OUTreach Project Redding PRIDE Festival that took place on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at the Sundial Bridge. LEADERSHIP REDDING HERITAGE DAY Redding Rancheria
The Redding Rancheria is thankful for Leadership Redding and the efforts they make to educate our community. On Thursday, September 22nd, 2022, The Redding Rancheria hosted the morning session of the Leadership Redding Heritage Day! Our very own Chief Executive Officer, Tracy Edwards spoke to the class about the history of the Redding Rancheria and shared “With the Strength of our Ancestors” documentary. The class was full of inquisitive minds and asked many questions. The Redding Rancheria Cultural Resource Coordinator, Louise Davis, gave a presentation on the Native American Basketry and Beadwork and even passed around some impressive pieces for the class to touch and feel. The morning was rounded out with a walk along the nature trail to see the Redding Rancheria Arbor. Thank you Leadership Redding for allowing us to be a part of the experience and welcoming us to share our knowledge and culture.

REDDING RANCHERIA HEAD START & CHILD CARE RRHSCC Hosts Parent Connect Meeting
On Tuesday, September 13th, 2022, Ms. Angie, the RRHSCC Family Intake Coordinator, hosted a “Parent Connection” meeting on school attendance. Parents had a chance to show off their creativity by decorating their own “keepsake box” to save their child’s art & schoolwork in. Thank you to all the parents who came to the meeting.

REDDING RANCHERIA’S EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH Carlos, Jerry, Tyler
September 2022 We would like to congratulate Carlos Wilson, Jerry Smith, Tyler Edwards, and Johnny Riggins from the public works department for being the September 2022 Employees of the Month! Carlos, Jerry, Tyler and Johnny received this award for the following reasons: On August 31st, late afternoon there was a fire at the end of Redding Rancheria Road. As soon as they got the call, they connected the Redding Rancheria water truck and immediately responded to the fire. Because of their training and maintenance, they were able to get the wagon to the end of the road and get water on the fire immediately. A shed was engulfed and the fire was spreading in vegetation.
Without regard for their own safety they were able to keep the fire from spreading down the canal to other homes. They were able to remove items from the shed to save the personal property. When the fire department responded and eventually extinguished the blaze they said that if it wasn’t for what they did the fire would have burned down the residence. Barbara Hayward, a resident at the end of the road called them, “her heroes”. These men absolutely deserve to be Employees of the Month.
