THINK PINK 2021 REDDING RANCHERIA
We celebrated Think Pink Day on October 21st. We celebrate this day to help create awareness for breast cancer awareness. We work with the Nor-Cal Think pink to help paint the town pink and passed out calendars to all of our employees. Please remember to get checked! We care and honor those who fought and are fighting the battle with breast cancer!
REDDING RANCHERIA HEAD START LITTLE BIG TIME POW WOW REDDING RANCHERIA
The Redding Rancheria Head Start & Child Care celebrated the annual Little Big Time Pow Wow in October. Jack Potter Jr. opened our ceremony with a blessing. Art Garcia shared a traditional song which was passed onto him from the late James Hayward Sr. There was music and drummers in the arbor and the children were able to try drumming. Dove Jeude brought a team of dancers in beautiful traditional outfits. Art Garcia and John Tau smoked salmon for everyone. The children and families were able to participate in a number of activities including, Beading, Acorn Gathering and Grinding, Picture Writing, Face Painting, making Dream Catchers, and storytelling with Miss Verenda in the bark house. Louise Davis brought a number of baskets and native artifacts which were on display. A Pow Wow is a sacred social gathering held by many North American indigenous communities. A modern pow wow is an event for Tribal American people to meet and dance, sing, socialize, and honor their cultures. Thank you to all who participated and helped to make this year’s Pow Wow a great success and join us in celebrating Native traditions with our children Redding Rancheria Head Start and Child Care program. STILLWATER POW WOW 2021 REDDING RANCHERIA
Thank you to all who came to the Redding Rancheria’s Stillwater Pow Wow. It was a huge success and we loved seeing every one of you. There was dancing, vendors, drumming and pageantry. We hope to see you next year!

WIN-FIT COMPETITION REDDING RANCHERIA
We held the Win-Fit Competition for all entities of the Tribe. This is a friendly competition for our team members to show their skills. If they choose not to compete and walk the interpretive trail they still get prize money. We are grateful for our Wellness Program and congratulate all of those who participated.

WELLNESS CONFERENCE REDDING RANCHERIA
The 2021 Wellness Conference for the Redding Rancheria was held on October 20 and 21. Wellness is a huge part of our culture! There were cultural activities, haircuts, manicures, pedicures, massages, workouts, and much more. We started it all off with Morris Morrison, a motivational speaker, who helped start the day with inspiration and lots of laughter. It was another chance for our team to do all of the activities that were offered. We appreciate you!

HEAD START PUMPKIN PATCH FALL FUN REDDING RANCHERIA
The pumpkin patch is always one of our favorite fall activities here at the Redding Rancheria Head Start & Child Care. The children ran through the hay bale maze, met all the animals in the petting zoo, played on the playground and took a ride around the farm on the train. Nash Pumpkin Ranch is a great place for families to enjoy the fall weather and the beautiful countryside. We saw pumpkins in every shape, size and color. All of the children loved hunting for the perfect pumpkin to take home. Happy fall ya’ll!

NATIONAL CONGRESS OF AMERICAN INDIANS REDDING RANCHERIA
On October 14th at 9:30 a.m., Jack Potter Jr. was sworn in as the Pacific Regional Vice-President for the National Congress of American Indians. “It is an honor as the Redding Rancheria Chairman, to serve in such a prestigious national seat. It is an honor for me to hold this seat with other Tribal Nations from across Indian Country. I will represent my tribe, the Redding Rancheria, and all of the other tribes in California. Thank you.”

10/27/21 NEWS RELEASE: North State Nonprofits Gifted $122,207 in Redding Rancheria Community Fund Grants Shared from Community Foundation of the North State The Redding Rancheria Community Fund of the Community Foundation of the North State, is pleased to announce fall grant awards totaling 122,207 to organizations in Shasta and Trinity counties. The Community Foundation received over 68 applications for the fund, which has a special focus on serving indigenous, youth and/or rural populations The Rancheria Community Fund historically has also supported a diverse array of causes including fire protection and public safety, outdoor recreation and education, arts programming, and care of elders. Tracy Edwards, Chief Executive Officer at the Redding Rancheria says, “We are proud to play our part in the community. Knowing how much need exists in our region, decision making continues to be difficult. We are dedicated to supporting worthy causes and know there will be additional opportunities in the future, starting with our next grant cycle in the Spring.“ The Redding Rancheria continues to be a generous supporter of nonprofits vital to the wellbeing of our community and we are grateful for their commitment to our region,” says Kerry Caranci, Chief Executive Officer at Community Foundation of the North State. The Redding Rancheria Community Fund - established in 2001 to support worthy causes in Shasta and Trinity counties is one of the longest standing funds at the Community Foundation. Since the fund’s inception, over $3.7 million in grants have been awarded.
