ASPHALT COWBOYS PANCAKE BREAKFAST Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center What happens when you get a bunch of wild, hardworking, and kind cowboys together, throw in some pancake mix and the early morning sun??? The Annual Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast is what you get! This event is such a blessing to our community and it brings thousands of people together to break bread. This is part of what makes our home so welcoming and inviting. We appreciate the time and effort the Asphalt Cowboys put in to making this magnificent event happen!
HEAD START STICK HORSE RODEO 2023 Redding Rancheria Head Start & Child Care
On Thursday May 18, 2023, the Redding Rancheria Head Start and Child Care held their annual Stick Horse Rodeo! The children and their parents worked together to make horses out of a sock, stick, and other fun craft supplies! They saddled up their steeds and rode off down Redding Rancheria Road in a parade of epic proportions. Our staff and parents cheered them from the sidewalk as they strutted down the street waving at their fans. We are proud to support the Head Start and Child Care students and cheer them on whenever we get a chance. Check out these cute photos of all the rodeo fun!

These three team members have been with Win-River Resort & Casino from the beginning and helped pave the way for all of its success! Through challenges, changes, and triumphs, they have shown up and put their hearts and souls into building a better future for our community, team members, and tribal members! Thank you for playing your part and helping create moments that will last many life times! Kevin began his career here at Win-River Resort & Casino in the spring of 1993 as a Bingo Floor Cashier. Over the last 30 years Kevin has not only touched the lives of many team members with his fun humor and whitty comebacks but also making a lasting impression on guests as well. Kevin now being a Slot Supervisor gets the opportunity to interact with guests, team members, and our tribal members all who enjoy seeing him anytime they are here. Kat started at Win-River Resort & Casino during May of 1993 as a Bingo Floor Clerk. Creating laughs and memories from the beginning. For the past 30 years, Kat grew into the incredible Slot Supervisor that we know today. Insightful, friendly, and eager to lend a helping hand anywhere she can. The relationships Kat has made with our team members and guest alike will continue to flourish, as does her career here. During April of 1993, Annette began her extensive rewarding career at Win-River Resort & Casino. Starting as a concessions cashier, she worked the last 30 years to build friendships and grow to where she is now. Annette is an amazing Count Team Member who works diligently to assist her team members in any and all tasks that come about. The dedication she has to the casino has shown through her time and effort over the last three decades and we could not be more thankful.

FIRST EVER NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE NIGHT AT THE REDDING RODEO REDDING RANCHERIA
On Wednesday, May 17th, Redding Rancheria sponsored the first night of the rodeo and proudly presented the first ever Native American Heritage Night at Redding Rodeo. Introductions began with an opening prayer by Radley Davis, member of the Pit River Tribe, in his native language. Dove Juede of the Mono Lake Paiute continued to sing “America the Beautiful” in her native language and was accompanied by Redding Rancheria’s Tribal Elder, Tribal Council Member, and Army Veteran, Leon Benner. During the break in bull riding, over 30 local dancers entered the arena and shared a demonstration of Pow Wow dancing styles with the audience. Tracy Edwards shared some history about the dance styles and the crowd cheered loudly for our talented and passionate dancers. Redding Rancheria was excited by this partnership with the Rodeo Association and appreciated the opportunity to share the culture with a wider audience. We invite everyone to see more dancers and dance styles at the Stillwater Pow Wow this year from October 6-8 at the Redding Rodeo Grounds!

MILDRED RHODES DIABETES PREVENTION WALK Win -River Resort & Casino
Diabetes prevention and care has been a priority for Redding Rancheria because Native Americans are twice as likely to experience diabetes. The Mildred Rhodes Diabetes Prevention Walk is an annual event that takes place at the Tribal Office where staff gives informative presentations about diabetes. A healthy lunch is provided and everyone takes a walk together, spreading pinwheel flowers along the trail and honoring the late Tribal Elder and Original Distributee, Mildred Rhodes, who experienced diabetes during her life. The Redding Rancheria strives to empower patients to better manage their diabetes, prevent the complications of diabetes, and achieve and maintain an optimum health status. We accomplish this by providing culturally sensitive, quality comprehensive diabetes self-management and preventative programs to meet the needs of our patients. Redding Rancheria is proud to offer this care and passionate about helping

May 5th is Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women’s Day. We honor the women, girls, and two spirit indigenous people that have not received justice. Indigenous women experience violence at alarming rates and their cases do not receive the proper attention. We call out to them and we stand for them. No more missing sisters. SHASTA MUD RUN 2023 REDDING RANCHERIA
Mud, Madness, & Mayhem??? Well, definitely MUD! The 2023 Youth Options Shasta Mud Run was an extremely fun time and we were proud to be there! Over 45 of our wildest employees joined the wet and wild fun. A 5k muddy course filled with over 20 obstacles including a huge water slide that flings you into a giant mud puddle. We are happy to support Youth Options Shasta and their cause to serve the children of the North State. Youth Options offers a variety of programs focused on providing positive options for youth. The Youth Peer Court uses restorative practices to provide youth with a learning environment that teaches responsibility. Their many and varied classes encourage youth to develop skills to manage the challenges in their lives. The opportunities they provide for youth to engage in community activities help develop leadership skills. The goal at Youth Options Shasta is to promote a safe and healthy community that encourages youth to learn the skills that will support them as they move into adulthood. Thank you to Youth Options for providing so many great services to the youth in our community! We are proud to be a part of this event and we cannot wait until next year’s Mud Run!

Win-River Resort & Casino held its annual All Staff Meeting... and what a show they put on! A huge thank you to Christopher Orozco, Director of Team Member Relations, and his team for putting on this event. We were honored to be in attendance to witness this monumental extravaganza! Our very own CEO, Tracy Edwards, provided updates on the tribe and plans for the future. She spoke of the plans for the Health Village and the building of the bridge that will connect the properties. The People’s Chairman, Jack Potter Jr, roused up the crowd with his warm and funny sense of humor. He brought up the 30 year career recognitions. Kevin Cawker, Kathleen Nunez, and Annette Rhoades have worked for the casino since day one! The Chairman thanked them and personally gave them each $100 cash straight from his wallet! The showcase of the “2022 year in review” reminded us of what an amazing year it was! The “Top 25 Guest Service Point Earners for 2022” were announced for providing the highest level of service to our guests. Don Hayward, General Manager, of Win-River Resort & Casino presented a reminder of the Culture and what it means to the team members. He also took questions from the audience on the spot! STATE CAPITAL DOME LIGHTING REDDING RANCHERIA
For the first time ever on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 the State Capitol Dome was lite red and candle light vigil was held to commemorate state’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. This monumental event was held by Assembly Member James Ramos in Sacramento on the steps of the State Capitol. We are proud that we are able to represent Redding Rancheria at this event and support Assembly Member Ramos’s event. Did you know that California has the largest population of Native Americans, more than any other state in the country? Cases of murdered and missing Indigenous women are 7 times less likely to be solved than any other demographic. In addition, Homicide is the third leading cause of death for Indigenous women between the ages of 15 and 24. Violence against American Indian and Alaska Native women face murder rates 10 times higher than the national average. These statistics are scary and we must do everything we can to raise awareness and fight this problem!
