Redding Rancheria Tribe is moving forward with proposed Casino Project • Tribe intends to build Project in Phases •
Phases will account for 2,120 construction jobs resulting in $99.1 million in new construction-related wages.

Phases will account for an additional 550 direct job opportunities resulting in $12.2 million in new wages.

These new wages will be spent and taxed in the local community.

Shasta County charges a 7.25% sales tax, consisting of a 6% State tax, 1% special tax, and .25% County tax. The 6% State tax will apply to on-reservation retail sales in the form of a use tax. The Tribe will charge an additional 1.25% sales tax for on-reservation retail sales to ensure on-reservation businesses and offreservations businesses pay the same net tax rate of 7.25%.

State taxes gaming revenues – (1) Special Distribution Fund provides funding to local government agencies impacted by tribal gaming; (2) Revenue Sharing Fund provides funding to non-gaming tribes.

Employee Appreciation Redding Rancheria
We appreciate all the employees of the Redding Rancheria. It was the 2019 Employee Appreciation Day this week and everyone had a fantastic time at Waterworks Park. The employees and their families were invited for a night of fun with food, water rides and lots of splashing.

With the start of summer in the Redding area, we can expect more fun days in the sun! However, along with summer comes hotter and sunnier days, which is why July is designated as UV Safety Awareness Month. While we love to soak up the summer rays, it is important to understand and protect ourselves from the damaging effects of the sun. How does the sun play a role? The sun emits radiation that can be harmful to both your eyes and skin, specifically:
o Cause vision problems and damage to your eyes
o Suppression of the immune system
o Premature aging of the skin
o Skin cancer
How can you protect yourself and your family? ✓✓Cover up! Wearing a hat or other shade protective clothing can shield your skin from UV ray exposure. In addition, sunglasses protect your eyes from UV rays and reduces the risk of cataracts, which is a clouding of the lens in the eye that causes vision problems. ✓✓Stay in the shade. Between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. the sun’s glare is the most intense. ✓✓Choose the right sunscreen. The FDA recommends that your sunscreen have a SPF of at least 15 and should protect against both UV-A and UV-B rays. ✓✓Use the right amount of sunscreen. Most people only apply 25-50% of the recommended amount of sunscreen. Also, sunscreen should be applied more often if you are sweating or swimming— even if the sunscreen is waterproof. Redding Rancheria The 1st Annual Redding Rancheria’s Big Time was held in honor of our Original Distributees and In Memory of Barbara Murphy. Thank you to all the dancers, vendors, and those who came to the event. Congratulations to those who won the Hand Game Tournament.

Payton Edwards Redding Rancheria
Tribal member Payton Edwards signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Cal State University, Monterey Bay on July 19, 2019. Friends, family, and coaches were on hand at Shasta College to support him. Payton has played baseball the last 2 years for the Shasta College Knights. He will be starting school there in the fall to pursue his BA in Business. Payton is the grandson of Tribal Elder and Council member Patty Spaulding.
Tribal Nations PR Conference Redding Rancheria
I wanted to thank the Redding Rancheria for the opportunity to be a part of the 1st Annual Tribal Nations PR Conference that was held in Madison, Wisconsin. It was a great way for all Public Relations Professionals in Indian Country to get together to learn, network and be better equipped for communication challenges within Indian Country. I was able to speak on two panels addressing Bootstrapping in public relations and social media in Indian Country.

The following are the reasons Paul received this award: He has really stepped up in covering the housing while we didn’t have a staff person hired. He has been great at getting requests done in a timely manner and he communicates well with the people.
