Washington D.C. Trip 2019 Redding Rancheria

On January 2, 2019, members of the Redding Rancheria Tribal Council and Executive Team had the honor and privilege of traveling to Washington D.C. to witness the historic event of Congresswoman Deb Haaland of New Mexico and Congresswoman Sharice Davids, from Kansas being sworn into Congress as the first Native American women to serve in that capacity. It is a historic event for Native American tribes in that we will have more direct representation in United States political process. Our tribe cannot be more proud and we honor them, their tribes and their families.

Pharmacy

Redding Rancheria In addition to excellent healthcare given by our knowledgeable Providers here at the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center, we are privileged to provide our patients with medications at a nominal cost. This is the result of a federal government program started in 1992 called the 340B Drug Pricing Program. The purpose of the 340B Drug Program is to enable qualified health centers to “stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services. As a 340B qualified health center since 1995, the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center has been able to accomplish two things: (1) purchase drugs at a significant discount and pass the savings on to our patients, and (2) use the savings to maintain, improve and implement new services for the betterment of our patients. The 340B Drug Program provides an important benefit that comes with significant responsibility and Federal regulation. As with any government program there are strict laws, rules and regulations that we must adhere to in order to provide drugs at discounted prices. As a result, RRTHC is subject to random audits and must maintain strict compliance with all requirements set forth by the Federal 340B Drug Pricing Program. In order to be eligible to receive prescriptions from our pharmacy, (1) RRTHC established patients must have their health records maintained at RRTHC, and (2) patients must receive healthcare services from a Provider who is either employed by RRTHC or provides care under a contract or a referral. Here at the Redding Rancheria Pharmacy we strive to be responsible stewards of the privilege we have been granted by complying with all requirements of the 340B Drug Pricing Program. In doing so, we are able to give all our patients access to affordable medications and new and improved services. We look forward to another year of service to all of you.

On behalf of RRTHC pharmacy staff, we would like to wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2019! 2

mackee Redding Rancheria

My name is Mackee Greer I am the daughter of Stacey Carman, the granddaughter of Mac Hayward, and the great granddaughter of Arthur Hayward. I am 27 years old, the mother of two beautiful babies, and I am of Wintu decent. I graduated from West Valley High School, attended the Academy of Arts in San Francisco, and have traveled to numerous countries around the world. I have had a passion for physical fitness and wellness for about 10 years now. I was told at 15 that I was borderline diabetic and 150 lbs. over the average weight for my age. I had been put in some embarrassing situations like not fitting on roller coasters, never wearing name brand clothes, and knocking over the school desk because my body didn’t fit in the available space. I soon realized that what I was doing, dieting, was only temporary and living healthy was where I wanted to be. My journey to wellness started small with physical fitness and fallowed with changing everything about the way I ate. After losing the first 25Ibs I was hooked and never turning back. I felt better, had more energy, and all around started living a better life. I am so excited to be here at the Redding Rancheria to start sharing my passion and love for living healthy with others as the Health and Wellness Coordinator.

Community health Center Redding Rancheria

Community Health has many events throughout the year that are geared towards a healthy, active lifestyle and blood sugar control. Our department is here to provide nutrition counseling and diabetic education for eligible patients of the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Center. Quarterly, we have family cooking classes, as well as a class with our Diabetic Educator called “Living with Diabetes.” We also offer a four week Health Promotion class that includes light exercise, a healthy dinner and health related education with one of our Dieticians. We are constantly striving to bring new events to the people we serve, so this year we have started new Community Walks – Get Outside and Move! These are held on the 1st Friday and 3rd Wednesday of every month and are in various places around town based on the weather. They are led by either our Community Health Nurse or one of our Dieticians. Our goals is to get people at different activity levels moving and making small steps towards wellness. All of our programs and classes are free of cost. We encourage you to try something new and give us a call to get the details on the location and time of the next walk. Remember, the journey of one thousand miles starts with a single step. For details on programs or to RSVP we offer please call Shayla at 530-226-1787. ~Shayla Reyes

Employee of the Month

Jannamarie Howard Community Services Coordinator

November 2018

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Jannamarie Howard. She is the Community Services Coordinator at the Redding Rancheria. She is a fantastic employee, very responsible, caring, and a huge asset to our Community Services Department. In such a short amount of time, she has shown an exceptional understanding of how the housing program works. She is one of the friendliest people I know and she always arrives to work with a smile on her face and a pleasant greeting for her co-workers. Janna is constantly going above and beyond in helping with other departments within Community Services. We appreciate you!

Congratulations Jannamarie Howard! 7
