Redding Rancheria The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected the American Indian/ Alaska Native populations across the country. AI/AN are 3.5 more likely to be infected with the virus than any other population. The CDC is working with Indian Health Services along with other federal members of Operation Warp Speed to plan and implement a Covid-19 vaccination program as soon as vaccines are available. Multiple vaccines are currently in various development stages, with two specific vaccines that are being evaluated by the FDA for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Pfizer has developed the first of the anticipated vaccines being reviewed for EUA by the FDA. The second vaccine expected to receive it’s EUA approximately a week later is the Moderna vaccine. Both of these vaccines need to be administered in 2 doses separated by 21-28 days and have been found to be more than 94% effective in preventing COVID-19 infections during Phase 3 trials. Once the vaccines are deemed safe and effective by the FDA, a EUA will be granted, and the IHS will then distribute the vaccine strategically throughout Indian Country. The first phase of vaccine distribution is anticipated to have limited quantities available, with more significant amounts being distributed later in 2021. Redding Rancheria Tribal Health is working hard to ensure that we are prepared once the vaccines become available. RRTHC has put together a COVID-19 Vaccine Taskforce consisting of members of various disciplines within our healthcare system to develop a plan to ensure that our facilities and providers are prepared to receive and administer the vaccines safely once they become available.
PRESS RELEASE Redding Rancheria donates $100,000 to 20 local organizations in Shasta County For Immediate Release December, 18, 2020 (Redding, California) —-The Redding Rancheria Tribal Government has approved to give 20 different local organizations $100,000 in the spirit of the season. Each of the local organizations will receive $5,000 on Friday, December 18, 2020. The Tribe is a part of this wonderful Community and we want to help support our local businesses that might be suffering during this unprecedented time. We hope these undesignated funds will help them with unforeseen expenses. We would like to thank all the local businesses that have helped support us through this. We are in this together. We have ordered coffee, smoothies, ginger shots, food, dessert, food trucks, office furniture, gift cards, merchandise and so much more from our local partners to ensure we help support them to stay open.

MERRY CHRISTMAS REDDING RANCHERIA COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS A Message from Chairman Jack Potter Jr.: This is Chairman Jack Potter sharing results from our incredible Redding Rancheria Community Christmas Giveaway. We started early in the morning and finished at 9:49 a.m. on Thursday, December 17th. There were cars in line since 4:00 a.m. With $20,000 we purchased the same amount of turkeys and bought gift cards this year to help make this event successful. We were able to see the real need this year and were ready with our large volunteer team that serviced those in need quickly. I apologize if you did not make it thru. We will evaluate for the event next year. Thank you to all who came through and volunteered. Happy Holidays.

MERRY CHRISTMAS REDDING RANCHERIA DRIVE THRU CHRISTMAS PARTY The Redding Rancheria held combined Christmas Parties for the Redding Rancheria Tribal Membership. The Tribal Youth and Adults enjoyed gifts, hot chocolate, meals and lots of welcomes from the Staff who held a drive thru event to celebrate with them. Caregive Ipad Redding Rancheria
In October, the Executive Team approved the purchase of iPads for use by the caregivers that care for Native American elders or grandchildren that are clients of the Redding Rancheria Native American Family Caregiver Program. Our program provides support groups and training that meet 2-3 times monthly. The Pandemic has increased the isolation of the family members due to meeting location closures, transportation problems or not having a respite worker/other family member to look after the loved one while they attend the meetings. The iPads will enable the caregivers (who are elders themselves) to connect to trainings, support groups and other resources from their homes while continuing to provide care to the most vulnerable and to offset the potential for isolation and depression in themselves.
