7th Annual Big Time Redding Rancheria’s 7th Annual Big Time brought our community together for a weekend filled with culture, connection, and celebration. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the event such a meaningful success. This year’s Big Time welcomed more than 1,800 people over the weekend, featured 18 dance groups, and included 18 Handgame teams competing throughout the celebration. We also served 1,200 meals, helping make the weekend a true gathering of community and hospitality. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dancers, vendors, Handgame teams, and every spectator who came out to support Big Time. This event would not be possible without the strong support of our community, and this year, you showed up in a big way. Big Time continues to be a special tradition that celebrates our people, our culture, and the spirit of togetherness. We are thankful for everyone who helped make this year’s gathering one to remember and look forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come.

Native American Chamber of Commerce Trade Mission North The Northern Tribal Trade Summit was held at Win-River Resort & Casino, where the Redding Rancheria was honored to host the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California. The event brought together leaders, business owners, and community members committed to strengthening and expanding Native owned businesses.

The summit provided an important opportunity to connect, share ideas, and support economic growth within Indian Country. By creating space for collaboration and conversation, the event highlighted the value of building strong partnerships that help Native entrepreneurs and organizations thrive. Native American Chamber of Commerce Mixer The Redding Rancheria hosted the mixer held at Win-River Resort & Casino the evening before the Northern Tribal Trade Summit. We were honored to welcome the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California and connect with partners dedicated to supporting Native owned businesses. The evening included a fun and engaging pitch session, giving attendees the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their work, and build new relationships. It was a great way to kick off the summit and celebrate the power of partnership within the Native business community.

Redding Rancheria Colt 45s Night Sunday night, June 7, was all about community and pride at the Colts 45s game. Redding Rancheria Night brought tribal members and staff together to fill the stands and show their support. A highlight of the evening was Kasey Martindale, who stepped up to throw the honorary first pitch and did an excellent job. It was a memorable moment and a great way to represent Redding Rancheria. The evening was a wonderful reminder of the power of coming together to celebrate community, connection, and pride.

FaithWorks Furnished Apartment At Redding Rancheria, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful partnerships that create lasting change. We are proud to sponsor this apartment for the third time in support of the lifechanging work of FaithWorks. For more than 25 years, FaithWorks has served individuals and families facing homelessness across Shasta County. Through a faith-informed, trauma-aware approach, they provide shelter, housing support, and programs that help people achieve long-term stability. Today, they operate five buildings housing up to 110 individuals and continue to expand their impact with new initiatives like Parkview Haven. Beyond housing, FaithWorks offers prevention and navigation programs that connect people to resources, stabilize their situations, and support lasting independence. FaithWorks recently shared their gratitude, recognizing Redding Rancheria for its generous contribution and noting that, as an apartment sponsor, this support helps make a difference across a lifetime. Redding Rancheria is honored to continue this partnership and support efforts that bring hope, dignity, and a path forward. Together, we celebrate the opportunity to walk alongside families as they overcome barriers to housing and build a stronger future.

Redding Rancheria Head Start & Child Care 2026 Graduation A Milestone Worth Celebrating! What a beautiful and memorable day our graduation ceremony turned out to be. Our hearts are overflowing with pride as we celebrate each and every one of our amazing graduates. What’s Next: TK and Kindergarten, Here They Come! Our graduates are heading off on their next great adventure. Some of our little scholars will be moving on to Transitional Kindergarten (TK) this fall, while others are ready to take the big leap into kindergarten. No matter which path they walk, they leave here with the confidence, curiosity, and kindness they have built right here in our classroom. We know they are going to shine brightly in every new classroom they enter. A Note of Gratitude! To our families: thank you for trusting us with your children and for being such wonderful partners throughout the year. Your involvement and support have made all the difference. Redding Rancheria Health Village Tour Redding Rancheria recently welcomed community partners, supporters, and friends for a special tour of the future Health & Wellness Campus, providing a firsthand look at the incredible progress being made on this landmark project. Under beautiful skies and with a shared vision for the future, guests had the opportunity to experience the transformation taking place and see the campus beginning to come to life. Spanning 185,000 square feet, the Health & Wellness Campus is rapidly becoming a reality. Tour participants witnessed the significant advancements made throughout the site and gained a deeper appreciation for the dedication, collaboration, and innovation driving the project forward. For many, the experience was a powerful reminder of how years of planning, partnership, and commitment are being transformed into a lasting resource that will serve generations to come. Designed to unite the wisdom of Indigenous healing traditions with modern science and technology, the Health & Wellness Campus will offer a comprehensive approach to care that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of those it serves. The campus reflects Redding Rancheria’s vision of whole-person wellness and its commitment to creating a healthier future for the community. More than a construction project, the Health & Wellness Campus represents an investment in the long-term health, resilience, and prosperity of future generations. The community tour provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate progress, strengthen partnerships, and share in the vision of a transformative space that will positively impact lives for years to come.

Redding Rancheria Pride Month Celebration We at the Redding Rancheria are proud to celebrate all LGBTQIA+ community members, employees, and tribal members. Pride Month, observed in June, honors the ongoing pursuit of equal justice for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and two spirit community. It is also a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals. As Native people, we also recognize and celebrate non binary identities. Many tribes have long honored Two Spirit people, who have traditionally held important and respected roles within their communities. In many Native cultures, Two Spirit people were seen as carrying special knowledge. and were valued for their guidance, leadership, and connection to the spiritual world.

Redding Rancheria Tribal Health System Kids Camp This summer, the Redding Rancheria Community Health Department once again partnered with the Shasta Family YMCA to host the 2026 Kids Camp, offering two weeks of fun, learning, and healthy living for our youth. Campers enjoyed a wide variety of activities, including swimming, sports, arts and crafts, cultural enrichment, A Little Competition nutrition education, and hands on wellness experiences designed to encourage healthy habits that last a lifetime. Throughout camp, children-built friendships, gained confidence, stayed active, and learned the importance of caring for their physical and mental wellbeing.

A special thank you goes out to our Community Health staff, YMCA partners, volunteers, and guest presenters whose enthusiasm and dedication made this year’s camp a memorable experience. Congratulations Virgil Baker on 25 years at Redding Rancheria The Redding Rancheria was proud to celebrate Virgil Baker as he surpassed 25 years of dedicated service on June 25, 2026. Virgil began his career as a Medical Receptionist in June 2001 and was promoted to his current role as Admissions Supervisor in May 2011. Virgil Baker is a devoted family man who is happiest when surrounded by the people he loves most. Whether he is spending quality time with his wife and sons, catching up with his sisters, or bringing smiles to the faces of all the little ones, family is always at the center of Virgil’s world. His deep devotion to his loved ones shines through in everything he does, creating a warm and supportive foundation that defines who he is both at home and in his community. When he is not with his family, Virgil can usually be found enjoying his favorite hobbies, with bowling and fishing at the top of the list. He is an avid bowler who loves the excitement of competing in tournaments, but his true passion lies out on the water. Fishing is his ultimate escape, and he has turned that love into a thriving business. As the owner of Bakers Bait, Virgil channels his expertise into handcrafting his own custom lures, successfully turning a beloved pastime into a creative entrepreneurial venture. At the clinic, Virgil is a treasured team member who is deeply loved by everyone around him. His vibrant personality and famously contagious laugh can often be heard lifting spirits all the way up on the third floor. Virgil treats every patient who walks through the door with the utmost care and respect, genuinely looking after them like family, which in his close knit community, many of them actually are. Congratulations, Virgil, on this remarkable achievement, and thank you for your lasting contributions to our organization.
