Southington PD receives high marks from public By Jesse Buchanan Record-Journal staff
Police presented results from a local survey that show residents are largely pleased with law enforcement but have concerns about auto crimes and personal safety.

Southington’s police department put out the survey in July and August, gathering more than 1,000 completed or nearly completed responses.
Strong finish to first weekend of Southington Apple Harvest Festival
Police Chief Jack Daly presented the findings to the Town Council on Sept. 25. Ninety-seven percent of those with a recent police interaction said they were treated with professionalism and respect. Ninetyone percent rated their interaction with police as good.

It was a strong finish to the first weekend of the Apple Harvest Festival, with sunny skies and warm temperatures drawing thousands downtown for the annual YMCA road race in the morning, followed by the festival parade in the afternoon, among other festivities and entertainment throughout the day.
The 54th annual Apple Harvest Festival was closed on Friday, Sept. 29, due to steady, soaking rain, but bounced back on Saturday, capped off by a fireworks show.
