Fair kicks off Sept. 8 with 80th birthday celebration

The North Haven Fair returns for its 80th year next month, and a birthday celebration will be part of the fun.

Each year, one fife and drum corps is selected to host a National Muster, where corps from various states, even other countries, come together to play. This year, Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps of Branford played host to the muster, which ran from Aug. 19 to 21. Lancraft Fife & Drum Corps from North Haven was among the participants at the gathering. “Over 30 fife and drum corps from all over performed in this historic event,” Kenny Avery, vice president of the Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps, said. “One of the featured bands this year was the St. Mary’s Prize Band of Limerick, Ireland.” See Muster, A3
