Cops carry ‘Flame of Hope’ for Special Olympics

While nearly 8 million students compete in high school athletics each year, only a small percentage of them continue their sports career in college.

North Haven police officers took part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on June 1. The local cops' leg of the trek that hot and sunny day was approximately five miles and took them from the North Haven/ Northford town line to Rt. 5.

Around Town New-look for The Lab

The Lab Legends Auto Boutique, 150 Universal Drive, celebrated its recent remodel with a ribbon-cutting event attended by Ray Andrewsen, executive director of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce; and First Selectman of North Haven Michael Freda.

On May 20, the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting at Giovanni Petruzziello’s newly-renovated The Lab Legends Auto Boutique, 150 Universal Drive. According to data in the latest NCAA Sports Sponsorship and Participation Rates Report, the number of athletes on college rosters is around 520,000. That means less than 7 percent of high school athletes make the leap to college competition.
