Hi! I am a third year architect student at Wits University. I love to draw, create and bring my imaginations to life. I am always eager to learn, easy to talk and a good listener. To me, I’ve been drawn to the storytelling aspect of spacemaking and building and what makes spaces pleasant and comfortable. REALM BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY

FROM MY EXPERIENCE OF FREEDOM PARK, I WISH TO CREATE A MORE PUBLIC SPACE THAT IS FREELY ACCESSIBLE. I WISH TO CREATE SPACES OF REFLECTION, TRANQUILITY WHILST ALSO EXPERIENCING A JOURNEY. I WANT PEOPLE TO FEEL EXISTENTIAL AND TO FEEL AWARE OF THEIR SURROUNDINGS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO THE LAND AND SKY.

LANGUAGE EXTENDS AND RETURNS TO A POINT OF ORIGIN. WHERE DOES THE IDEA OF LANGAUGE COME FROM? HOW DID OUR ANCESTORS COMMUNICATE AND HOW DID LANGUAGE EVOLVE AND DIVERGE FROM ITS ORIGIN? LANGUAGE TRANSFORMS INTO MANY DIFFERENT FORMS OF COMMUNICATION HOWEVER THERE ARE CONSTANT THREADS THAT LINK IT AND MAKE IT UNIVERSAL.

MY IDEA IS DERIVED FROM THE DISCONNECTION FROM REALITY THAT COMES FROM THE CONSUMPTION OF DRUGS. ALTHOUGH SOME MAY BE SOBER, THERE'S ALWAYS A SENSE OF BEING IN ANOTHER STATE OF MIND, ALMOST BEING IN BETWEEN 2 WORLDS OR ON EITHER SIDE. THE CONNECTION WITH REALITY BECOMES FRACTURED. MY BUILDING AIMS TO MEDIATE BETWEEN THESE 2 WORLDS IN A CONTROLLED, SAFE AND COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR THOSE UNDER THE INFLUENCE. I WANT THE SPACES TO BE PEACEFUL AND CALMING FOR THE USERS AND TO ALLOW RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF DRUGS TO BE CARRIED EFFECTIVELY.

CREATING STIMULATION FOR BOTH THE ANIMAL AND THE VISITOR THROUGH PLAYFUL ENCLOSURE INTERVENTION BY PLAY WITH HEIGHT: VIEWING THE PANDAS AT DIFFERENT HEIGHTS, EXPLORING TIMBER STRUCTURES AND FORM AS THE MAIN DRIVER OF THE ENCLOSURE, OPEN VS CLOSED ENCLOSURE CREATING PRIVATE SPACES BY CONTROLLING VISITOR VIEWS AND USING NATURAL FEATURES CREATING A SENSE OF HARMONY.
