As the REALTORS® Association of Jamaica celebrates 60 years, we are reminded of what has kept this Association strong: resilience, professionalism, unity and a commitment to leaving our industry better than we found it. This quarter has been one of meaningful progress, from strengthening our advocacy and industry partnerships to investing in new technology, member education and the systems that support our members every day. Our Diamond Jubilee is more than a celebration of our past. It is a reminder that the RAJ must continue to evolve, lead and advocate for the future of real estate in Jamaica. The MLS is more than a place to list properties. It is one of the most important tools we have for connecting buyers and sellers, sharing reliable market information and strengthening the value of working with a REALTOR®. As we continue to improve our MLS systems and develop the new Commercial MLS, here are a few simple ways to get more from the platform.

As we navigate the business of real estate, understanding the rules is just as important as understanding the numbers. Remember, a Listing Agent cannot demand a pre-approval letter as a condition for viewing a property. However, the Listing Agent may request confirmation from the cooperating agent and Broker that appropriate proof of funds or pre-qualification/pre-approval is in place. Before requesting a viewing: The cooperating agent should ensure the prospect is properly onboarded and vetted, with their ability to purchase within the property’s price point reasonably established. Proper due diligence before scheduling a viewing helps protect all parties and avoids unnecessary or unqualified showings.

comprehensive hurricane relief initiative, purchasing essential items, assembling care packages, donating water tanks, and traveling directly to the Giddy Hall Primary School in St Elizabeth and White House, Westmoreland, to visit families directly affected by Hurricane Melissa.

ACHIEVER’S CLUB REALTORS® CARE Achievers’ Club School Grant The REALTORS® CARE Achievers’ Club School Grant Initiative supports the academic journeys of children and wards of REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associates. The grant recognises the Top Boy and Top Girl in each of the Association’s three regions for both PEP and CSEC. Applications for the 2026 cohort closed on August 21, 2026. Submissions have since been reviewed against the programme’s eligibility and supportingdocument requirements, and seven individuals have been successfully awarded grants to aid in the next stage of their education journey.

ADVOCACY WINS
We met with the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, along with key national stakeholders, to champion policies that support our industry's growth and strengthen REALTOR® representation at the national level. Our advocacy is actively shaping the future of Jamaica's real estate ecosystem, driving reform and cutting through bureaucracy to help REALTORS® close deals faster and serve clients more effectively.
STRATEGIC ENGAGEMENTS
RAJ participated in an initial stakeholders meeting with NEPA regarding shortening development approval times and ensuring the sustainable development of Jamaica.
RAJ, in collaboration with the PSOJ, presented the Jamaica Bar Association with recommendations for shortening mortgage and conveyancing timelines and improving efficiency across the transaction process.
RAJ will meet with the Bankers Association regarding accelerating mortgage approvals and identifying solutions to reduce delays for buyers, sellers, and practitioners.
KEY WINS & PROGRESS
STRONGER AT THE TABLE Joint Action Task Force greenlit and will include REALTORS®. Upcoming discussions with Floyd Morris, Opposition Spokesperson on Housing, regarding affordable housing and sustainability.
