Ali began playing volleyball at camps when she was in third grade and was on her first team by the fifth grade. Through her determination and lots of hard work, Ali is now on the Varsity Volleyball Team at Rocklin High School. She plays Defensive Specialist and has truly found her passion with volleyball. In fact, her team won First in League as a Division 1 Team and made it all the way to State. One of the many benefits of playing her favorite sport has been the opportunity to meet so many new people, many of whom have become her best friends. Playing for her high school team has taught Ali about the importance of making lasting relationships and the ease with which that can be done through sports. Playing on various teams with many different players has helped Ali develop the ability to work well everyone. Volleyball has also given Ali confidence, through a combination of perseverance and a positive mindset, she has flourished as a varsity athlete. On advice to students aspiring to be athletes in high school, Ali stressed the importance of learning to balance school work and sports. Playing on such a competitive team demands a large commitment of both time and effort. Ali and her team start training in June, play games for Rocklin High School from August through November, and then begin Club Volleyball at Rocklin Volleyball Club that runs through May. Despite her busy schedule, Ali has successfully navigated these two important aspects of her life and is not only a varsity athlete but an exceptional student. “Thank you for allowing me to interview you, Ali.
