REALITIES FOR CHILDREN

Realities For Children is an alliance of local businesses whose mission is to provide for the unmet needs of children who have been abused, neglected, or are at-risk by uniting local businesses, Partner Agencies, and the community in collaborative and mutually beneficial service.

The underwriting support of the Business Members allows Realities For Children Charities to operate without expenses. This ensures that 100% of every donation directly benefits programs and services for the children we serve.

Partnered in service with local Partner Agencies, Realities For Children has created a safety net of services for children in our community who have faced abuse, neglect, or are at-risk.

Realities For Children service model supports children from entry into the system and throughout their healing process. To do so we provide three essential legs of service.

The first leg of service requires we identify and meet the immediate, unmet and emergency needs provided within 60 minutes of a request so that no child in need is forgotten.

The second leg requires effective support services once emergency needs have been met so that the healing process along the path of recovery can begin.

The third leg focuses on provision of services that equip, support and provide resources so that as children emancipate from the system they are empowered to break the cycle of abuse.

Partner Agency & Youth Programs Manager

Each day at Realities For Children, I have the incredible honor of working with our 35 Partner Agencies and the youth they serve. In my role as a Partner Agency and Youth Program Manager, I witness firsthand the power of what we do together and I hear the stories that remind me, time and again, why our mission matters so deeply.

Realities For Children provides for the emergency and ongoing support needs of children in Northern Colorado who have been abused, neglected, or are at-risk. These aren’t just words, they are the driving force behind every service, every event, every donation, and every connection we make in this community.

Through our six core services, we work together with our Partner Agencies to deliver vital care to children in crisis. These services ease their burden, allowing them to stretch resources and serve children with greater impact. Behind each service is a story: a backpack that builds confidence, a bike that restores joy, emergency funds that bring safety tonight.

This impact is made possible by our local Business Members and Sponsors. They believe, as we do, that no child should ever be forgotten. They don’t just give. They get involved. Every time you support a Realities For Children Business Member, you help create a lifeline for a child who needs to know they are not alone.

Item collections are a vital way to get involved, and one of the most impactful ways is through monetary donations. These gifts allow us to respond immediately when a child is in crisis and thanks to our unique business model, 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to emergency services for children in need.

Our Premier Events, like our recent Golf Invitational and the upcoming Ride & Rally on August 30 don’t just raise funds, they raise awareness and bring people together in shared purpose.

We are more than an organization—we are a movement. Together, through collaboration, compassion, and unwavering dedication, we’re showing every child in need that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.

Thank you for being a part of this community of hope.

With gratitude,

HIGHLIGHT REALITIES FOR CHILDREN

YOUTH ACTIVITIES & SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Realities For Children is more than a nonprofit—it’s a lifeline for abused, neglected, and at-risk youth in Northern Colorado. Through its Youth Activities and Special Programs, the organization brings healing, connection, and hope to children facing trauma. These initiatives offer year-round opportunities many would otherwise miss, helping restore a sense of normalcy and belonging.

A key part of this support is the monthly Youth Activity events, where children and their caregivers enjoy safe, uplifting outings. From bowling and movie nights to roller-skating, each event fosters positive social interaction and emotional well-being. Volunteers are present to ensure a supportive and understanding environment.

Special Programs, including the Keeping Dreams Alive Awards and Triumph Awards, recognize youth who are overcoming adversity and breaking generational cycles. These celebrations highlight their strength and encourage continued growth.

All programs are free for youth of our Partner Agencies, removing financial barriers and making critical support accessible to those who need it most. Supported by a generous community of donors and partners, Realities For Children ensures that every child has the chance to simply be a child.

Together, these efforts build resilience, strengthen trust, and create pathways to brighter futures for vulnerable youth in our community.

AMBASSADORS

The Ambassador program is comprised of a select group of Business Members who volunteer their time and talents to network and participate in fundraising events as spokespeople for Realities For Children.

They help generate business leads and educate organizations on how they can become part of the solution to child abuse in our community.

Our Partner Agencies are an esteemed group of nonprofit organizations committed to collaboration, fiscal efficiency and providing the best possible continuum of service for the needs of Larimer County children.

Partner Agencies receive support for youth & families in emergency funding, youth activities, community awareness, event sponsorship, item distributions and facilities space.

SPOTLIGHT PARTNER AGENCY

A Friend for You is a nonprofit which supports clients during and after pregnancy through one-onone support, tangible services and connection to community resources. We believe no one should go through pregnancy alone. That’s why we connect each client with a caring, trained and background checked Volunteer Friend who offers one-onone encouragement, practical help, and a listening ear.

There are only two requirements to participate in our no-cost program: 1. Pregnancy at intake; and 2. willingness to regularly meet with their matched Volunteer Friend. 93% of our clients at intake acknowledge the reason why they joined was because they didn’t have enough of a friend/family support system. 39% of new pregnant clients already have children in their family when they contact us to join.

Once matched, Volunteer Friends meet their clients where it works best in the community—at a coffee shop, a park, a doctor’s appointment, or going to a community resource together. The relationship is flexible and led by the client. Many clients continue their friendship with their matched Volunteer Friend for years past pregnancy because that is what they desire.

Along the way, clients receive thoughtful, small gifts for encouragement and support. During pregnancy, each woman receives three gifts. Post pregnancy, she receives $100 in meals she chooses and a gift package that is focused on her. Clients also receive cards during four major holidays each year—just one more way to show they are remembered and cared for.

We additionally support our clients through a monthly newsletter filled

afriendforyou.org

with free and low-cost local events and services in our community. Clients can also join free cooking classes and attend fun monthly events through our partnership with Realities for Children, which include activities for moms and their kids.

Our goal is simple but meaningful: provide a steady and supportive person during a time that can feel uncertain or overwhelming. We want every client to know she’s not alone— and that someone truly cares for her and her growing family.

Whether it’s a first-time mom or someone already raising children, A Friend for You offers encouragement, connection, and hope through trusted relationships and small, meaningful acts of kindness.

At A Friend for You, we believe that genuine connection and practical support lead to healthier outcomes for moms and their families.

“Since A Friend for You doesn’t require a woman to be in her first pregnancy to receive support, many clients already have children. We’re grateful for our partnership with Realities for Children, which recognizes that our care extends not only to the mother, but also to her children. We’re especially thankful for our group events for the mothers and children which provide education, encouragement and peer support in a safe environment. Thank you Realities For Children for empowering nonprofits in our community!” — Lorraine Meyer, Executive DIrector, A Friend For You

SPOTLIGHT PARTNER AGENCY

Alternatives to Violence (ATV) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Located in Loveland, Alternatives to Violence provides free critical services that help individuals and families leave abusive situations and rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment. Every year, ATV helps hundreds of survivors access resources, and gain the confidence needed to rebuild their lives and regain their independence. Services include a 24/7 crisis line, emergency shelter, support groups, housing referrals, outreach programs and more.

Their advocates work hard to meet an individual’s needs—emotionally and physically—offering compassionate, confidential support tailored to each person’s unique journey.

In addition to direct services, ATV is committed to prevention through education. The organization conducts community presentations and school programs focused on healthy relationships, consent, and bystander intervention—laying the groundwork for a future free from violence.

The organization also works closely with first responders, healthcare

alternativestoviolence.org

providers and community partners to ensure survivors receive information, consistent care and protection.

Their signature events help to raise awareness and funds to keep services free to those in need. The Purple Ribbon Breakfast in April features survivors who share their personal and difficult journeys with attendees. Pastels on 5th in September has grown to be a local favorite and ATV’s largest fundraiser. The FORE Golf Tournament – also in September - brings together likeminded professionals to raise funds for ATV’s safehouse.

ATV values partnering with local organizations to raise awareness of our mission. If you are interested in partnering with Alternatives to Violence, please give us a call at 970-669-5150 or email development@ alternativestoviolence.org. Your involvement helps ATV continue its mission of hope and healing to survivors in our area.

“At

Alternatives to Violence, we are deeply grateful for our ongoing partnership with Realities For Children. The children we serve—many of whom are emerging from abusive or traumatic situations—face significant challenges. The support provided by Realities For Children has been critical in maintaining safe environments and meeting the urgent needs of these young survivors to give them a sense of normalcy as they heal.” – Rose Marie Massaro, Communication & Development Manager, Alternatives to Violence

Creating a Culture of Wellness: IOME’s Mission to Prevent Burnout Before It Starts

In today’s fast-paced, high-demand work environments, burnout has become more than a buzzword—it’s a real and rising threat to employee well-being and business sustainability. That’s where IOME comes in.

Founded by Licensed Professional Counselor Becky Lauridsen, IOME (pronounced “I owe me”) is a Northern Colorado-based mental wellness company on a mission to create guiltfree self-care and accessible mental health support for individuals and organizations alike.

At the heart of IOME’s mission is its Mental Health in the Workplace

program—a comprehensive, preventative wellness benefit offered directly through local employers. This program includes access to counseling, LENS neurofeedback, infrared sauna therapy, and on-demand support sessions, all designed to reduce burnout, boost resilience, and normalize self-care. Unlike traditional EAPs, IOME’s approach is proactive, personal, and built to foster long-term well-being for employees in both nonprofit and for-profit settings.

“Our goal is to make mental wellness simple and accessible to everyday employees—especially in industries where burnout is common,” says Lauridsen. “Whether it’s high quality therapy sessions available within a week,

970-200-8793

iowemenow.com

personalized neurofeedback, or group trainings focused on stress, burnout, and resilience, we meet people where they are and help them keep going strong.”

With office locations in Windsor and Fort Collins, IOME already supports organizations such as the City of Greeley, Weld County, and Housing Catalyst. The benefits are clear: employees feel valued, turnover drops, and companies create cultures where wellness is prioritized, not pushed aside.

If you’re a business owner or nonprofit leader looking for meaningful ways to support your team’s mental health, consider what IOME can offer. It’s more than a benefit—it’s an investment in your people.

To learn more about IOME’s Mental Health in the Workplace programs, visit www.iowemenow.com or email info@iowemenow.com.

“Partnering with Realities For Children allows us to align with a mission that deeply resonates—supporting our most vulnerable community members. Together, we’re creating a network of hope, healing, and resilience. It’s an honor to stand alongside other local organizations committed to making Northern Colorado a stronger, more compassionate place to live and work.”

—Becky Lauridsen, Founder of IOME

22nd Annual

REALITIES CUP INVITATIONAL

On July 14, the 2025 Realities Cup Invitational, presented by Blue Federal Credit Union, brought together players, sponsors, and community champions for an unforgettable day of golf at the stunning Fort Collins Country Club— all in support of children in Northern Colorado who have experienced abuse, neglect, or are at risk.

Set against a backdrop of tree-lined fairways and sweeping views of Long Pond, 34 teams teed off on the meticulously maintained 18-hole parkstyle course. The day was filled with

spirited competition and fun on-course challenges, including fan favorites like the Marshmallow Drive and the Longest Drive contests.

After the tournament, guests gathered for a luxury buffet dinner and charity reception, where energy and generosity filled the room. Award winners were celebrated during the evening program, with special recognition given to contest champions and standout teams who embraced the spirit of the day both on and off the course.

Thanks to the incredible support of our volunteers, sponsors, players, and donors, this year’s Realities Cup raised over $65,000—funds that will go directly toward emergency services for at-risk children in Larimer County.

More than just a golf tournament, the day was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together for a cause. With momentum already building for 2026, the Realities Cup continues to be a driving force for meaningful change in our region.
