To acknowledge the phenomenon of fishes and how it works, firstly you have to know about the bony fishes. These types of fishes have different absorption of salt in their bodies to their environment.This means that they are more or less salty than the water in which they swim.
Freshwater fish and saltwater fish have different ways of taking water in. To survive in different conditions and weather, they need salt in their bodies. By reason, they naturally create a harmonious environment with the water through them through the process of osmosis.
Osmosis is the process based on the traveling of water across a membrane. To make sure for the survival of the cells and an optimal environment, osmosis is needed to be regulated.

With the help of the cells in their bodies saltwater fishes take in water. If fishes take in salt too much, then through their gills they remove the overabundance of salt. In a normal environment, the bodies of saltwater fishes are slightly less salty in comparison to the water around them.
In other words, it’s salt water in, saltwater out, all the time; saltwater fish constantly lose water out of their bloodstream through osmosis.
