His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Meets with RCSI Officials

On 3rd October, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met with Professor Cathal Kelly, the Vice Chancellor and CEO/Registrar of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in Dublin, accompanied by Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, Professor Michael Kerin, Vice President of RCSI in Dublin at Gudaibiya Palace. His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of investing in Bahraini citizens’ education and the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing its medical sector. He acknowledged the role of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain in advancing higher medical education and training medical professionals, noting that the

institution has helped groom and train medical professionals to meet the needs of the health sector. Professor Kelly and the RCSI officials expressed their gratitude for His Royal Highness’s support of the Kingdom’s medical sector. Professor Cathal updated His Royal Highness on the development of the University, its economic impact, and the campus extension, which will add 8,000 square metres to the existing facilities. Professor Cathal emphasised that none of this would have been possible without the continued support of the Government.

Celebrating 20 Years of Advancing Healthcare Education

RCSI Medical University of Bahrain celebrated its 20th anniversary under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The ceremony, attended by His Excellency Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, Her Excellency Dr Jaleela bint AlSayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council, Her Excellency Dr Diana Abdulkarim Al Jahrami, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council Deputy Chairperson of the Higher Education Council Board of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Newsletter, Winter 2024

Trustees, His Excellency Mr Rami Al Adwan, Jordanian Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Professor Cathal Kelly, Vice Chancellor and CEO / Registrar of RCSI and other distinguished guests was held at the Gulf Convention Centre. His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, delivered the keynote speech, commending RCSI Medical University of Bahrain’s contributions to the higher education sector. Professor Deborah McNamara, President of RCSI in Dublin, expressed gratitude for the continued support in advancing Bahrain’s education and healthcare sectors.
