Program Spotlights

B-Star Cohort Fall 2018

B-Star Program The B-STAR Program was established by Rutgers Business School’s Office of Diversity Programs to provide students from underrepresented minority backgrounds with academic and social supports essential to excelling within the rigorous Rutgers Business School curriculum and higher education environment. The introductory stage of the B-STAR program includes a competitive and demanding six-week summer academic and residential bridge experience. It allows incoming first-year students to enhance their math and writing skills, develop/improve critical and analytical thinking skills, engage in professional development and career awareness activities, enroll in two courses for full academic credit, explore issues around diversity, equity, inclusion and access, network with RBS faculty, staff, students, and corporate partners, etc. Due to challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 RBS B-STAR program will be hosted using a virtual format rather than being held on campus. Despite this change in delivery, this program for highly motivated students will still emphasize academic preparedness, the development and enhancement of study and time management skills, and building meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, and fellow students. For more information about the Office of Diversity Programs, contact Charles Brown, Assistant Dean, or Yvette Del Valle, Program Coordinator.
