Zafirah Astral brings a unique artistic depth to the Second Life fashion scene, shaped by a lifetime immersed in music, education, and creativity. Behind the avatar is an Italian elementary school teacher and trained clarinetist, whose connection to rhythm, discipline, and expression naturally extends into her virtual presence. For her, Second Life is not just a platform, but a stage where identity, emotion, and storytelling come together.
Her journey into fashion was anything but conventional. She first explored Second Life through dance, performing as a belly dancer long before discovering the structured world of runway modeling. What began as curiosity gradually evolved into a seriouspursuit, driven by a desire to understand and embody fashion as a form of expression. Through training, experience, and dedication, she transformed that initial spark into a refined and intentional modeling career.
What defines Zafirah’s approach is her focus on atmosphere and emotion rather than mere appearance. Each runway moment becomes a narrative, shaped by movement, presence, and subtle detail. With a strong foundation in professional training and a continuous drive to grow, she represents a vision of fashion that values artistry, discipline, and authenticity above all.
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to talk to us. Could you share a bit about the person behind the avatar?
I am Italian and, in real life, I teach at an elementary school. However, music has always been my true passion. I have been playing the clarinet for nearly forty years and graduated from the Conservatory.
Behind the avatar is someone who lives at the intersection of music, education, and creativity. Second Life serves as a stage where all of these elements can come together to form my identity..
What was your initial intention when you entered Second Life? How did you perceive the fashion industry?
At first, I didn’t think about fashion at all. My primary focus was on movement; I had a long history as a belly dancer in clubs that featured Middle Eastern music.
At that time, I was unaware of the world of virtual fashion shows and couldn’t imagine that a real fashion industry existed in Second Life. However, when I discovered it, it felt like opening a door to a new stage.
What are your hobbies and interests besides Second Life?
Outside of Second Life, music plays a central role in my life. I also enjoy crocheting, which allows me to create with care and patience. Additionally, I love reading, especially historical novels, as they let me travel through time.
Let’s dive into your favorites:
1. **Favorite Personal Style**:
I enjoy experimenting with fashion, but I’m particularly drawn to colorful, expressive aesthetics that are far from minimalism. I love outfits that tell a story and confidently stand out.
2. **Favorite Designers**:
My favorite designers include Mugler, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, and Karl Lagerfeld. I always keep an open mind for new inspirations as well.
3. **Favorite Places to Visit**:
I admire places that change with the seasons, as well as beautiful beaches, locations that inspire calmness and creativity.
4. **Favorite Movie**:
My favorite movie is *The Fabulous World of Amélie*. It’s a poetic and delicate story built on small details that linger with you, much like the emotions I aim to capture in my creative work.
All of these passions reflect my appreciation for detail, beauty, and storytelling.
Is there someone who helped you along the way? How did you decide to become a professional model?
No journey is undertaken alone, and I am grateful to two key individuals who influenced my path: Memole Giha, who taught me the essentials of runway awareness, and Naar Absinthe, who helped me refine my skills.
My modeling journey began almost by chance when I entered an amateur competition and discovered my passion for creating outfits and walking the runway. That curiosity sparked a commitment to study and growth in this field.
Are you currently in an agency? Which ones?
Yes. My first agency was Mahasiah Model Agency, which I joined after completing my first training.
Today, I am part of AIM Agency, Mahasiah Agency, Audace Fashion Models, Excelsior Model Agency, International Model Agency, Kaleido Models, Loft Models, Nova Eikon Model Agency, One on One Modeling Agency, Spectre Agency, Supreme Model Agency, and VM Productions.
Working with multiple agencies allows me to grow continuously and experience different visions of fashion.
Can you share a funny or interesting moment from your modeling career?
During a show, just before I was about to step onto the runway, part of my outfit didn’t load correctly. For a brief moment, I felt a wave of panic. However, I decided to walk out as if nothing had happened.
In the end, everything worked out, and the audience didn’t notice a thing. This experience taught me that true elegance means handling the unexpected with grace
What makes you stand out? Can you share a story? What makes me stand out is how I approach a scene. In one show with a strong theatrical theme, many models opted for bold outfits, while I focused on movement, rhythm, and expression.
After the show, someone told me, “We don’t just remember what you wore, but how you made us feel.” That statement confirmed my belief that my strength lies in transforming each runway moment into a story.
Please tell us about your education. Have you taken any modeling courses? Yes, I have trained at Nova Eikon with Memole Giha and at Innova Models with Naar Absinthe. Additionally, I took a posing course with Hanne Strawberry Kenin from Pink Moon Poses.
While courses can be expensive, they are a reflection of the quality of training. Although it’s possible to learn independently, structured education provides discipline, awareness, and professionalism.
What advice would you give someone starting out?
Take the time to learn. Fashion in Second Life requires observation, discipline, and curiosity. Invest in training, listen to experienced individuals, and enjoy the process, your passion will shine through.
What do you prefer: modeling, blogging, photography, or competitions?
I prefer runway modeling. It combines movement, music, and emotion, and it’s where I can express myself most fully. I’m also interested in blogging and plan to dedicate more time to it. Competitions are valuable as opportunities for growth and experimentation
What magazine would you like to be on the cover of?
Appearing in Models Magazine was already one of my wishes, as it represents an important platform in Second Life fashion.
I would also like to be featured in other magazines, bringing my identity and style into different contexts.
Where do you see yourself in a year? Any goals or dreams?
I see myself continuing to grow with more awareness and confidence. I want to participate in meaningful projects and strengthen collaborations with agencies that share my vision of fashion as artistic expression.
If you could change something in the SL fashion world, what would it be?
I would emphasize the importance of training and respecting everyone’s contributions. Fashion is not just about visibility; it’s also about study, commitment, and growth.
Creating a more conscious and collaborative environment would allow everyone to express themselves more fully.
Is there anything you would like to share with readers or future models?
Don’t be afraid to start from wherever you are. Every experience can develop into something bigger when approached with passion and respect.

What can you tell our readers about yourself and your blog?
I started blogging just a few months ago, but fashion has always played a significant role in my life. My blog reflects who I am, spontaneous, emotional, and constantly evolving. I don’t follow trends blindly; instead, I dress based on how I feel. Some days, I opt for oversized and cozy outfits, while on other days, I prefer sleek and bold styles. For me, fashion is about feeling good in my own skin. If an outfit doesn’t resonate with me in that moment, it simply doesn’t work. My goal is to remain authentic and remind people that fashion isn’t a rulebook, it’s a mood.
Describe how you first got into blogging.
A few months ago, I started blogging, inspired by my partner, Matrix Spirt, who has been a blogger for years. Watching his passion motivated me to give it a try. Blogging feels like the perfect combination of fashion and photography, two things I’ve always loved. Although I’m still new to it, it already feels like home.
Can you tell me some of your strengths that really helped you in blogging?
I believe that effective blogging begins with high-quality photography. It’s not merely about showcasing a product; it’s about telling a story and evoking emotions. Photography is my greatest strength. It’s a passion I’ve carried with me throughout my life, and it allows me to create content that feels personal and expressive.
What was your greatest failure and what did you learn?
I’m still at the beginning, so I wouldn’t call anything a real failure yet. But I know challenges will come, and I welcome them. I see mistakes as essential to growth; each experience offers valuable lessons, especially creatively.
Second Life is a big place. Do you have any other interests besides blogging?
Absolutely! I love photography, exploring new places in Second Life, and music. I also enjoy DJing in my free time. Music, like photography, connects people beyond words, and that’s something I’m always drawn to.
Why did you start blogging? Describe your writing and creative process, from concept to publishing. How do you stay motivated? I began my journey out of curiosity, inspired by my partner. After taking my first photo, I was immediately hooked.
Ideas come to me naturally; sometimes, it starts with a dress or a specific color, and I build a scene around that. I find the right location, adjust the lighting, play some music, and allow the moment to guide me. That’s how a post comes to life.
How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?
Blogging feels like a creative ritual, rather than a chore. Even on slower days, once I start developing a concept, everything flows seamlessly. My sponsors also inspire me, as their designs often ignite new ideas. Seeing the final result keeps me motivated.
How do you choose designers to blog for?
I choose designers who match my style and inspire me. I don’t blog just for the sake of it, I need to feel a connection. Sometimes I apply to blogger calls, sometimes designers reach out. What matters most is creativity, quality, and mutual respect.
How do you organize your posts?
Blogging takes time, but passion makes it easier. I usually post at least once a day, sometimes more if
I feel inspired. I don’t follow a strict schedule. I keep notes with ideas, locations, and looks, and work based on what excites me most at the moment.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style changes with my mood. Some days bold and edgy, other days soft and romantic. I don’t follow rules. I wear what feels right. Style, for me, is about self-expression and confidence, not approval.
How do you attract new readers?
I use platforms like Flickr, Instagram, Facebook, and Primfeed. I post consistently and use relevant hashtags. Timing and engagement matter, but the most important thing is connection. When you stay authentic and interact with your audience, they come back.
Where do you get products for review?
Most items come from my sponsors, designers like Gabriel, Meva, Lyrium, Mekaci, Seniha, Antaya, Bondi, and Boutique 187. Sometimes I also buy items myself if they inspire me. I only blog what I truly like.
How active are you weekly?
I’m very active, usually posting daily. I also interact regularly with followers by replying to comments and messages. Building a real connection with the community is important to me.
What are your future goals?
I want to grow my blog into a recognized platform in Second Life, combining fashion and photography to inspire others. I hope to collaborate with more designers, improve my skills, and maybe organize virtual fashion events in the future.

In a world where virtual photography continues to evolve, some creators stand out not through complexity, but through clarity of vision. Leyo is one of those artists. With a strong focus on black and white imagery, emotion, and realism, Leyo transforms Second Life into a deeply personal storytelling space.
Self-taught and driven by passion, Leyo approaches photography as a form of expression rather than technique. Each image is carefully constructed to evoke feeling, using light, shadow, and composition to speak where words are no longer needed. In this interview, Leyo shares the journey behind the lens, the creative process, and the philosophy that defines their work
Could you share some details about yourself, including your interests beyond photography? Additionally, could you let us know your background and the specific areas of photography that you concentrate on?
In reality, I have no knowledge in the field of photography. I love art in all its forms, whether it is music, which I practice, painting, or architecture, which I am also passionate about.
I discovered Second Life about three years ago, after having already spent several years on another virtual world platform. I was already practicing photography there, but I felt limited by the lack of realism.
So I learned Second Life on my own, as well as editing software like Photoshop and GIMP. Over time, I developed a real love for black and white photography, always seeking more realism in my images.
Today, my work focuses on emotion, details, and the interplay between shadows and light
. Have you undergone any formal training in graphic design, or do you have a background in it? Additionally, what sparked your initial interest in delving into photography within Second Life, and which aspects of virtual photography do you discover to be the most captivating or challenging?
The only training I received came from observing the work of different photographers. They helped me find my own path. I continue to learn more and more because I love it. Photography in Second Life is a powerful way to express emotions. It allows me to tell stories through my avatar, almost like a storyteller bringing scenes to life.
What three words describe your personal photography style? Art, realism, emotion
Many of our readers are curious about your technical process. Could you tell us more about your use of windlight, image size, and angles? Do you have a favorite setup you return to?
I use Black Dragon to take my photos, and I mostly work in black and white. I use a single windlight that I created myself, which allows me to play with shadows. I also create my own poses. My photos are taken in 6000x6000 format to ensure high image quality, and then I crop them during editing.For me, there is no ideal angle. I choose the angle that best reflects the idea or emotion I want to convey.
Is there a specific photograph you’ve taken that holds a special place in your heart? If so, could you share the link and explain why it stands out to you?
If I had to choose one, it would be the picture on the right.

What projects are currently occupying your creative focus? Are there areas you’d like to explore further, or goals you hope to achieve in the future?
I participated in my first exhibition a few days ago. In the near future, another exhibition will take place in a different gallery, and I am really looking forward to it.
I am a hard worker, so I simply hope to continue learning and to maintain the passion that drives me in Second Life.
Is there anything else you would like to say to our readers? The important thing is to remain humble, kind, and authentic. For me, the point of taking pictures is that you should not need words to explain them.
