President’s Welcome to Sutton & Epsom

A big welcome to our guests on Saturday, Sutton and Epsom. We played them a few weeks ago and managed to finish the game in a win position. But this was not easy at all. Every time we scored they came back at us. A good job we got the early lead because for those of us sitting nervously in the hooded seating area, they were rarely more than a score away. We came out victors on the day but we know we have another big task on our hands today. They were big guys and fast.

Sutton & Epsom RFC is a rugby club based in London, founded in 1881, making it one of the oldest active rugby clubs in England. The club has a rich history, having played against notable teams like Saracens and Stade Francais in its early years. Currently, the club features both men’s and women’s teams. Women’s team recently won their league and achieved promotion. They have a thriving Minis and Juniors section and run 6 Senior Teams. They were one of the first clubs to put together a Ladies team.

We had a Walking Rugby Festival here at Horsham last week. Clubs from all over Sussex County came to us for a chance for competitive rugby and some socialising. It was a fun night and much amusement. The story of the lights going out at nine pm was top of the list!! If you’d like to join we’re on the AGP around 5.45 on a Monday night. This should be a great game today. Please enjoy.
