This zine is about the current stand that kiaʻi (protectors) are taking at Mauna Kea to defend their sacred land from the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT). This zine specifically looks at how the people who have risen up at Mauna Kea are an example of Indigenous nationhood, sovereignty, and decolonial possibility--returning to Kanaka Maoli ways of being, knowing, and governing as a way of ensuring and paving the way for Indigenous futurity. This protection work is genealogical!
This zine was also created as a final project for my Decolonization class! So excuse any of the fussy academic jargon :p Any lack of creative license I was able to take with the content, I hopefully made up for in graphic design :) Thanks for reading!
