Mission Statement Our Mission is to provide an extensive and varied recreational program, enhancing personal enrichment, and providing for the community’s leisure needs. The activities and services shall include, but not be limited to: recreational and enrichment activities for all ages, youth and adult sports programs (non competivitive and competitive), and activities for special populations. Resident/Non-Resident To receive the resident rate you must reside within the cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester. Residency is not connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. The current non-resident fee is $20 per program for children and $28 per program for adults. NonResident fees are not charged for Special Events and Team registrations. Notice to Participants Participants must recognize that all classes/ activities of a physical nature involve some risk, and by registering for a class/activity of this nature there is an assumption of risk by the participants. RARA is dedicated to providing safe equipment as well as qualified staff for all participants. In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of RARA to: 1. Contact emergency medical services to perform first aid, and when necessary, recommend transport of the victim to the hospital. 2. Reach the parent/guardian/emergency contact as soon as the situation allows. Cancellation of Activities RARA activities at community schools are cancelled when school activities are cancelled. Activities at 480E & 500E 2nd St along with other offsite locations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise posted. In addition, cancellation of programs will be determined by program supervisors as seen fit. Cancellations will be posted at: www.rararecreation.org, Facebook/Instagram/Twitter:@RARArecreation, and for some programs registered participants will be notified via email.

Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Class Be prepared when seconds count! You might save a life, but only if you know how. Learn how to respond effectively to adult, child and infant cardiac and choking emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding and other life-threatening conditions from the American Red Cross programs that set the national standard. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and your vital role in the chain of survival. Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification card will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements (valid for two years). Set sail for imagination and adventure with this World Class camp! You and your first mates will design a cruise ship and embark on a voyage around the globe. Magic is Fun Workshop Want to learn some magic? In this workshop, young “Magicians” will learn tricks that are easy to do, yet good enough to fool mom and dad. ROCHESTER AREA YOUTH CYCLING CLUB Cycling is a sport where participants progress at their own pace and riders of all abilities are invited to participate! This program teaches off-road riding skills, safety, and etiquette through group rides, drills, games, and fun activities led by certified cycling coaches. In addition to fun, social group rides and instruction, interested participants will also have the option to participate in the MISCA 6 youth-only mountain bike race series (optional races on Sundays 8/29/2021 – 10/17/2021). Requirements: Participants must provide trail-worthy bike and helmet and should have basic bicycle riding skills. Assistant coaches needed/parent participation encouraged, but not required.

Self Defense for Children The safety of our children will depend on their ability to recognize a threat and respond effectively. This fun, interactive and age appropriate workshop teaches essential, lifesaving information about the threats facing our children, strategies for prevention and real-world techniques designed to reduce their risk of abductions, assaults and other forms of violence. Most of all, this program teaches students that they have the right to be safe. This class is taught by Live Safe Academy.

SLIME CLASS

Don’t have your child sit home bored! Sign them up to take a class all about making slime! They have the opportunity to make a variety of different slimes such as scented slime, fluffy colored slime, or themed slime! VIRTUAL SELF DEFENSE FOR CHILDREN

If someone wants to hurt our children, they won’t choose a time or a place with witnesses. That means no parents, no teachers, no policemen, just our children and the predator. The safety of our children will depend on their ability to recognize a threat and respond effectively. This fun, interactive and age appropriate live virtual class teaches essential, lifesaving information about the threats facing our children, strategies for prevention and real-world self-defense techniques that can be learned from home. But most of all, these programs teach students that they have the right to be safe, that no one has the right to hurt them and that their life is worth protecting. And we have added a new kid friendly section on COVID19 and other communicable illnesses.

Use of amenities is based on availability; fieldhouse, group x, party room, gymnasiums, and inline rink are regularly scheduled and may not be available during most hours hours. **At this time all of our staff, members, and program participants are required to wear a face covering and submit a temperature check upon entry to Four80 Fitness or the RARA Administration Building.
