Welcome to a packed season of play, energy, and shared experiences. Our lineup from September through December 2026 is officially locked in, and the team has put together a roster of activities that are all about connecting with neighbors and making unforgettable memories. Here is a quick look at what we have coming up to keep everyone active, creative, and moving: Signature Events: Get ready for high-energy weekend community gatherings, including scenic outdoor autumn runs and exclusive late-night events designed specifically for students. Youth Sports & Development: Keep the kids active with structured sports leagues, development clinics, and foundational movement classes that build early motor skills, team camaraderie, and confidence. Adult Recreation: Round up your friends or meet new ones in our fast-paced adult sports leagues, or join introductory instructional series designed to help you master new skills on the court. Whether you are stepping onto the field, entering the esports arena, or throwing clay in the art studio, there is a brand-new adventure waiting for you this season. Let’s make it a fantastic fall!

Step into a more competitive basketball experience in our 6th–8th Grade Coed League, where players sharpen skills and compete at a higher level! The 8-week season includes 2 weeks of practices, followed by regular season games and a single-elimination playoff that brings intensity and excitement each week. Games are played with a 29.5” basketball on 10-foot rims and officiated using MHSAA rules for a more structured game experience. Teams are formed by school first, with friend requests accepted (but not guaranteed), and all players receive a full uniform (jersey top and bottoms included). Designed for intermediate, select, and travel players, this 6-session program focuses on developing technical skills, tactical awareness, speed of play, and overall confidence on the field. With a playing and coaching background that includes the Argentina Junior National Team, Borussia Dortmund, the Detroit Express, and the Chicago Sting, Pato brings decades of elite-level experience to every training session. Gather your friends and jump into the action with our Sunday Adult Indoor Coed Soccer League—fast-paced, competitive, and built for fun! Teams play 4v4 (3 field players plus a goalie) in a high-energy format that keeps the game moving and exciting every week. This coed league requires both male and female players on the field, and features a self-officiated, pickup-style format with rosters capped at 7 players. Games run every Sunday, making it the perfect way to stay active and enjoy friendly competition with your crew. Only team captains register, with a $100 deposit at sign-up and championship t-shirts awarded to the winners!

Get ready for the ultimate overnight gaming experience at our Esports Late Night Party! Designed for students in grades 6-8, this exclusive event features five hours of nonstop gaming, friendly competitions, tournaments, and multiplayer fun from midnight until 5:00 AM. Players will have the opportunity to compete in popular games like Fortnite, Minecraft, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and more while hanging out with friends in a fun and supervised environment. Whether you're looking to test your skills, make new friends, or simply enjoy an unforgettable night of gaming, this late-night party is the perfect way to level up your summer. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

The RARA Board is a policy making board comprised of 7 members, representing the governmental agencies that established our interlocal agreement, and individuals from each of the communities in which we serve.

The board meets on the third Tuesday of each month. 5:00pm at the RARA offices. 500 E Second St. Rochester, MI 48307.

To receive the resident rate you must reside within the cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester.

Residency is not connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. Non-Residents pay an additional 20% , capped at $20 per program in addition to the resident rate.

cancellation of activities

RARA activities at community schools are cancelled when school activities are cancelled. Activities at 500 E Second St. along with other offsite locations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise posted.

In addition, cancellation of programs will be determined by the recreation supervisor in charge of the program as seen fit. Cancellations will be posted at: rararecreation.org and for some programs, registered participants will be notified via email.

Participants must recognize that all activities of physical nature involve some risk, and by registerting for a class/activity of this nature, there is an assumption of risk by the participants. In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of RARA to:

This four-week series centers on foundational techniques designed to foster drawing skill development. Each session will focus on different concepts such as contour line drawing, shading, cartooning, and urban sketching. Every week students will receive a handout that covers techniques learned in class. A suggested homework assignment is given to help reinforce what was learned in class. Whether you’re editing your very first video, transitioning from another editing platform, or looking to sharpen your DaVinci Resolve skills, this handson workshop provides guided support for learning and creating in DaVinci Resolve. Participants can follow beginner-friendly activities designed to teach the fundamentals of editing, including importing footage, organizing media, building timelines, adding titles and graphics, working with sound, and basic color correction. More experienced participants looking to learn DaVinci Resolve are welcome to bring their own footage, audio, graphics, or ongoing projects and receive individualized guidance while they work. This flexible, neurodivergent-friendly workshop is designed to support a variety of learning styles and experience levels. Participants may work independently or ask questions throughout the session, creating a supportive environment for learning and creative exploration. No prior editing experience is required. RARA computers with DaVinci Resolve installed will be available for participants to use during the workshop. Participants who wish to work on their own projects are welcome to bring their own laptop with DaVinci Resolve installed or bring their media files on a thumb drive. Participants using RARA computers should also bring a thumb drive or plan to transfer completed work before leaving the session.

Looking forward to learn one of the world’s most widely spoken languages? In our Beginner Spanish Program you can learn and practice the fundamentals of this popular language. Led by a native Spanish instructor, the program covers essential grammar, basic conversation, and some cultural aspects. While learning a new language brings a lot of benefits like stimulating your brain, improving your creativity, and expanding your communications skills, you also can create new social connections. No previous experience is required, you only need to bring something to take notes and your willingness to learn!

Be prepared when seconds count! You might save a life, but only if you know how. Learn how to respond effectively to adult, child and infant cardiac and choking emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding and other life-threatening conditions from the American Red Cross programs that set the national standard. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and your vital role in the chain of survival. Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification card will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements (valid for two years).

If someone wants to hurt our children, they won’t choose a time or a place with witnesses. That means no parents, no teachers, no policemen, just our children and the predator. The safety of our children will depend on their ability to recognize a threat and respond effectively. A drop-off art camp where kids ages 4–9 create neon fan art, blacklight battle scenes, and glowing masterpieces — all made to the beat of their favorite K-Pop hits. This isn’t an art camp. It’s part art studio, part K-Pop concert — built for every kid who knows every word. Think clay K-Pop Derpies, soda slime in every neon color, and blacklight canvases that glow like a stage at full show. The best art happens when the music is on, and this room never turns it off. Drop them off buzzing. Pick up a young artist who can’t wait to turn the lights off and show you what they made. Lunch and Doodle Option: This option provides supervision and a few small crafts during lunch time, 12:00pm-1:00pm, each day of camp. You would still need to provide a lunch for your child. It’s almost turkey time! Kids will learn a skill called Bauernmalereia, a traditional form of folk art originating from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. First we’ll practice by painting a turkey, to show off fanciful feathers. Then we will work on an actual pumpkin, painting brick red, navy or black and then painting flowers, vines and leaves with a brush of loaded colors. It will be so beautiful you will want to keep it as a nice centerpiece for the Thanksgiving table! Small class size ensures individual attention and generates strong self confidence. monday 12/21 adorable arctic animal art mini camp 9am-12pm Ages: 6+

In this frosty-fun mini camp, your kids will be sculpting, painting, drawing, and constructing a menagerie of cute arctic foxes, narwhals, polar cubs, and penguins, antarctic I know, but still adorable. We’ll be using modeling clay, shimmering paint, with markers and colored pencils to create snow and ice effects, then add cool color accents and sparkling finishes to make each piece shine like fresh frost. Kids will learn about form, balance, and texture as they shape their chilly masterpieces. This is a busy mini camp featuring a new experience. Once complete, we’ll create a mini diorama, arranging sculptures among painted icebergs, frosted trees, and glimmering snowdrifts — perfect for a cozy winter showcase! At the end of camp, families are invited to a Frosty Gallery Show to admire these arctic art creations in all their shimmering glory.
