Mission Statement Our Mission is to provide an extensive and varied recreational program, enhancing personal enrichment, and providing for the community’s leisure needs. The activities and services shall include, but not be limited to: recreational and enrichment activities for all ages, youth and adult sports programs (non competivitive and competitive), and activities for special populations. Resident/Non-Resident To receive the resident rate you must reside within the cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester. Residency is not connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. The current non-resident fee is $20 per program for children and $28 per program for adults. Non-Resident fees are not charged for Special Events and Team registrations.
Notice to Participants Participants must recognize that all classes/activities of a physical nature involve some risk, and by registering for a class/activity of this nature there is an assumption of risk Registration Periods by the participants. Refund amounts will be determined on an individual program basis and requestors will be notified if additional fees are assessed.

Cancellation of Activities RARA activities at community schools are cancelled when school activities are cancelled. Activities at 480E & 500E 2nd St along with other offsite locations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise posted. In addition, cancellation of programs will be determined by program supervisors as seen fit. Cancellations will be posted at: www.rararecreation.org,Facebook/Instagram/Twitter@ RARArecreation, and for some programs registered participants will be notified via email.

OAK in the Hills (Outdoor Adventure Kickoff) Presented by Moosejaw When: May 16th 11am-3pm Where: Spencer Park Get summer started off on the right foot by discovering, learning about and trying the many things you can do outdoors. Join Rochester Hills and Oakland County Parks to find your next hobby! Guests can try out rock climbing, zip lining, kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, archery, art and more, free of charge. Fun for all ages. Moosejaw will also give away a kayak to one lucky winner! S’mores and Stars When: May 20th 8:30 - 10:00pm Cost: $5/person Location: Bloomer Park Enjoy a campfire with our Naturalist and the Oakland Astronomy Club, as we look through telescopes and see the night sky from a different view.

Look for creatures in the river, woodlands and ponds while learning how we’re all connected to the natural world. We will be here to assist you both on and off the water but you should come to this program with a small amount of kayaking or canoeing experience as this is not an instructional course. Kayaking 101 When: July 25th 9-10:30am or 11:30-1pm Where: Spencer Park, meet at the dock north of the beach Skill Level/Age: Beginner/12+ (children under 14 must be accompanied by a paid adult) Cost: $20/person This beginner’s class is designed for someone wanting to try out kayaking for the first time. It will cover basic kayaking safety, etiquette, and boat and paddle basics. Boats and safety equipment provided. Please wear appropriate clothing for water activities and plan to leave your valuables in your vehicle. River Float When: July 26th, 1-4pm Skill Level/Age: Intermediate, 12 and up (Children 12 to 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult) Cost: $30/person View the Clinton River from a whole new perspective RAFT IT! With twists and turns, combined with swift current, this event is for those individuals who enjoy the splendor of nature coupled with a physical workout. Spanning the better part of an afternoon; this tour may last a full 3 hours. Come join us!
Teen River Float When: August 30th, 2-6pm Ages: Teens, ages 14-18 Cost: $25/person Float the Clinton River over three miles of winding bends and weeping willows while we look for turtles, snakes, deer and other wildlife. Once we arrive at Eagles Landing, we’ll end our day with a picnic lunch, s’mores over a crackling campfire and a swim in the river.

RARA SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS DANCING IN ROCHESTER SINCE 1948
Dance classes are taught at RARA 500 E 2nd St in downtown Rochester. The center features four dance studios each with a large screen monitor for viewing. Our program offers dance classes for all ages in many styles of dance. Classes are taught in terms. Our two semester RECITAL classes run September-June with an on-stage recital. Shorter sessions of nonrecital classes run in autumn, winter, spring and summer. Workshops clinics, intensives and special events run through the year.

Instructors Our dance teachers are trained, mature and sensitive to hte needs of both children and adults. The teaching develops proper technique and selfconfidence, enhancing body image, strength and agility through dance. Make-Up Policy There are no make-ups or refunds for students who miss class due to illness, travel, family situations, etc. Classes cancelled due to inclimate weather conditions or situations beyond our control like a mandatory closure or power outage cannot be made up or refunded. There will be make-ups scheduled if the class is cancelled when an instructor is unable to conduct class. Make-ups may not be the same day or time as originally scheduled. RARA Dance Team is composed of two groups: The Competition Team and The Performance Team. Dancers will build confidence and self-esteem while working in a team atmosphere. The RARA Competition Team is for dancers who want serious, dance training plus the challenge and excitement of dance competitions and performance throughout the year. There are 6 competition dance teams: acrobatics, ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, and tap. Dance students may audition to compete in one or multiple genres of dance. The RARA Performance Team is for dancers who want to share their love of dance with others in the community. These dancers enjoy the opportunity to learn many styles of dance which are showcased in multiple performances during the dance season. Auditions will be hosted by RARA Dance Team Directors and Teachers. Additional RARA Dance Team Information will posted on our website in the month of April 2020. Egyptian Dig: Buried Treasure Discovery Workshop Children discover the amazing science of Archaeology as they uncover ancient artifacts. In doing this, we will learn about Egyptian life. We will excavate with tools like real archaeologists use. We will find the following artifacts as we excavate a scarab, hieroglyphic tablet, ankh symbol, and a jackal. You will learn about this and even take home a booklet. The artifacts are yours to keep. We will wet the sand that we dig into and create one of two sand sculptures for display.
