Mission Statement Our Mission is to provide an extensive and varied recreational program, enhancing personal enrichment, and providing for the community’s leisure needs. The activities and services shall include, but not be limited to: recreational and enrichment activities for all ages, youth and adult sports programs (non competivitive and competitive), and activities for special populations. Resident/Non-Resident To receive the resident rate you must reside within the cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester. Residency is not connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. The current non-resident fee is $20 per program for children and $28 per program for adults. NonResident fees are not charged for Special Events and Team registrations.

Night Hike and Campfire
Beginner, all ages Friday May 4, 2018 8-9:30pm Enjoy a guided night hike, owl calling and the sounds of spring followed by marshmallows roasting over a crackling campfire.
Fly Fishing 101
Beginner, 12+ Monday June 11, 2018, 2018 6:30-8:30pm Learn fly fishing safety, different types of flies, fish and rivers as well as casting basics. A great refresher for someone looking to start fly fishing again or for someone new to the sport.

Beginner, 6+ with adult Wednesdays July 11 – Aug 1, 8-10am Join Lance and Lauren at Spencer park every Wednesday morning June 11 though August 1 while we learn some fishing basics, common types of fish, local fishing regulations, fishing safety and hopefully catch some fish along the way! All materials provided but feel free to bring your own.
Kayaking 101
Beginner, 12+ with adult Saturday July 14, 2018, 9-11am This beginner’s class is designed for someone wanting to try out kayaking for the first time. It will cover basic kayaking safety, etiquette, and boat and paddle basics. Kayaks will be provided, prepare to get wet.
River Float

RARA Earth Day 5K Fun Run
Join us to celebrate Earth Day at the 13th Annual MI Earth Dayfest April 20- 22, 2018. The 5K is a scenic loop route through municipal park and the neighboring subdivision. All ages are welcome and the route is friendly for pets and strollers. The race will be chip timed and have awards for each age division along with raffle give-a-ways from our sponsors. Participation awards include, race tech shirts, medallions, a seedling tree for you to plant, and a goodie bag from our sponsors. Not your typical Road Rally! Get your team members together. Sign up your 3-4 person teams. We will kick off this Rally at the RARA building lobby where you will get your rules and clues. Join us to celebrate Earth Day at the 13th Annual MI Earth Dayfest April 20- 22, 2018. The 5K is a scenic loop route through municipal park and the neighboring subdivision. SCHOOL FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS RARA School for the Performing Arts program offers a wide variety of dance classes (preschool, tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet, hip hop, acro, and contemporary) for children and adults beginning at 2 ½ years of age. We teach these classes in terms. Our RECITAL TERM begins each September when we enroll students for the two semester program, ending with the “grand finale” – our recitals in June presented at a local high school. Some dancers enjoy non-recital classes taught in 8-16 week terms throughout the year, FALL, WINTER/SPRING AND SUMMER. The SUMMER TERM, provides students the opportunity to strengthen skills or sample new classes in a short 8 and 5 week session and begins each June. LOCATION: Dance classes are taught at our center located at 500 East Second Street, downtown Rochester. The center features four classrooms, parent waiting area, canteen, and ample parking. Each studio classroom has an observation monitor. INSTRUCTORS: Our dance teachers are trained, mature, and sensitive to the needs of both children and adults. They teach to develop technique and self-confidence, not stress, enhancing body image, strength, and agility through dance. Above all, the enjoyment of the performing arts is foremost. ATTENDANCE POLICY: Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class. Please make every effort to have students at each class. Use of amenities is based on availability; fieldhouse, group x, party room, gymnasiums, and inline rink are regularly scheduled and may not be available during all hours. A family membership includes free child watch for members participating in on site activities for up to 2 hours.
General RARA Camp Information
All camps have latchkey except where noted. Latchkey takes place at the location listed in the description. Children picked up late from latchkey will be charged a $1 per minute late fee. This fee is paid directly to staff on the day of pick up. We have a Medical Form on our website that you need to download, (rararecreation.org) fill out and turned in BEFORE YOUR CHILD CAN COME TO CAMP. If you are registering at the RARA office, please bring your Medical Information, Insurance Information, Emergency Contact Information, Date of last Tetanus Shot, Child’s Doctor Name, address, and phone number. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt the morning of their field trip. A weekly detailed schedule will be given to parents on Monday mornings. Campers need to bring a non-perishable lunch. lunch needs to have your campers name on it.

Latchkey LATCHKEY MUST BE PAID AT THE RARA OFFICE. Counselors do not have the ability to take your payment nor are they allowed to take payment at the latchkey drop off and pick up locations. Before and after care is available for Camp Moose Tracks, Camp Caribou, Teen Camp, Travel Camps, Specialty Camps, & Sport Camp. Before and after care is available from 7am until camp starts and after camp ends until 6pm. Latchkey is counselor supervised. This is held in a non structured atmosphere. Payment system: The cost is $4.00 per hour which is charged in 15 minute increments. Your child’s latchkey totals will be tallied by camp staff then billed to you at the end of each week. Your bill can then be paid with Visa, MC, Discover or American Express. You can also pay at the RARA office in with the same methods, with cash or check. If the bill is not paid by the due date then you will be charged a late fee and your account will be frozen until the bill is paid.
Please keep your Latch key account current in order for your child to attend camps.
You are required to sign your child in and out each day. Teen Campers who are riding or walking must have on file a permission form from RARA, signed by the parent.
Camp Refund Policy All Camps cancelled by RARA are refunded in full.

When a credit card is used for transactions, refunds will be credited back to that credit card.
When RARA is notified at least two weeks before the start of camp, if paid by check or cash, a full refund, less a $5 processing fee will be issued.

When given less than two weeks notice, but before the first day of camp, there will be a 75% refund issued.

When notified after camp begins, but before the second day, there will be a 50% refund issued.
•
There are no refunds issued the second day of camp.

Specialty Camps All of the specialty camps have latchkey available for $4.00 per hour. Latch key is from 7:00 am-10:00 am and then from 4:00pm—6:00 pm. Camp Moose Tracks is an action-packed camp for your children to enjoy. Activities will include games, nature projects, swimming, crafts, special events, and much more. Lights, Rings, Pings and Dings—Arcade Building
Partner up with a friend or two and try to be the winning team. The week will be composed of different games, obstacles, and challenges. By the end of the week everyone is a winner! Be ready to run, think, and get dirty! This camp is based loosely on the CBS show the amazing race, but all of our events take place in Bloomer Park more or less. Come join us for the Team Challenge! As part of our STEM series we will be breaking down and doing hands on work in building from scratch an Arcade Game. Maybe it won’t (or maybe it will!) have all of the bells and whistles of an actual modern day game but campers will have to plan, build and test their arcade game. Campers will visit Arcades and get inside looks at how the machines operate and have fun playing some of the machines during different trips. At the end of the week campers can showcase their Arcade game to the rest of the camp. This football camp introduces campers to the fundamentals, skills, drills, and terminology that will be used at the middle school and high school level.
