RARA BOARD MEMBERS TBD, Rochester Hills Matthew McDaniel, Rochester Schools Mark Albrecht, City of Rochester Jill Sorensen, City of Rochester Peggy McConnell, Avondale Schools John Muenk, Rochester Hills Theresa Mungioli, Rochester Hills The RARA Board is a policy making board comprised of 7 members, representing the governmental agencies that established our interlocal agreement, and individuals from each of the communities in which we serve. The board meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 5:00PM at the RARA offices, 500 E Second St. Rochester, MI 48307. Meeting/ agenda minutes are available on our website at www.rararecreation.org and updated monthly. Mission Statement Our Mission is to provide an extensive and varied recreational program, enhancing personal enrichment, and providing for the community’s leisure needs. The activities and services shall include, but not be limited to: recreational and enrichment activities for all ages, youth and adult sports programs (non competivitive and competitive), and activities for special populations. Resident/Non-Resident To receive the resident rate you must reside within the cities of Rochester or Rochester Hills. RARA is funded through a millage collected in the city of Rochester Hills and a comparable fee in the city of Rochester. Residency is not

connected with the Rochester School District. Residency is determined by where you pay your city taxes. The current non-resident fee is $20 per program for children and $28 per program for adults. NonResident fees are not charged for Special Events and Team registrations. Notice to Participants Participants must recognize that all classes/ activities of a physical nature involve some risk, and by registering for a class/activity of this nature there is an assumption of risk by the participants. RARA is dedicated to providing safe equipment as well as qualified staff for all participants. In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of RARA to: 1. Contact emergency medical services to perform first aid, and when necessary, recommend transport of the victim to the hospital. 2. Reach the parent/guardian/emergency contact as soon as the situation allows. Cancellation of Activities RARA activities at community schools are cancelled when school activities are cancelled. Activities at 480E & 500E 2nd St along with other offsite locations will continue as scheduled unless otherwise posted. In addition, cancellation of programs will be determined by program supervisors as seen fit. Cancellations will be posted at: www.rararecreation. org, Facebook/Instagram/Twitter @RARArecreation, and for some programs, registered participants will be notified via email.

SELF DEFENSE FOR CHILDREN The safety of our children will depend on their ability to recognize a threat and respond effectively. This fun, interactive and age appropriate workshop teaches essential, lifesaving information about the threats facing our children, strategies for prevention and real-world techniques designed to reduce their risk of abductions, assaults and other forms of violence. Most of all, this program teaches students that they have the right to be safe. This class is taught by Live Safe Academy.

SLIME CLASS

Don’t have your child sit home bored! Sign them up to take a class all about making slime! They have the opportunity to make a variety of different slimes such as scented slime, fluffy colored slime, or themed slime! Magic is Fun Workshop Want to learn some magic? In this workshop, young “Magicians” will learn tricks that are easy to do, yet good enough to fool mom and dad. Best of all, they will be having fun while building their presentation skills and self-esteem. Magic Soccer Academy For Ages 3 - 6 Years Old:

This class will teach the basics of soccer through fun and entertaining instruction. Players will learn the rules and basic techniques of soccer and use their skills in small sided games. Bring shin guards, tennis or soccer shoes and a water bottle. This program is 6 sessions long. Parents are required to stay on site if your child is under 5 years old.

For Ages 7-12 Years Old:

Join RARA and Pato today and watch as your child learns the proper techniques of dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, and game tactics in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Players will train then use their skills in small sided games. Please bring shin guards, water bottle & soccer ball. This program is 6 sessions long.

ADULT AND PEDIATRIC FIRST AID/CPR/AED CERTIFICATION CLASS

Monday, Nov. 8, 2021 6:00pm - 9:30pm Ages 9+ $90

Be prepared when seconds count! You might save a life, but only if you know how. Learn how to respond effectively to adult, child and infant cardiac and choking emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding and other life-threatening conditions from the American Red Cross programs that set the national standard. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and your vital role in the chain of survival. Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification card will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements (valid for two years). Please note that you must arrive on time to be certified, so please arrive early. This program is taught by Live Safe Academy.
